Chapter 72 Ungrateful
Isabella was momentarily stunned but quickly regained her composure. "It's nothing, I'm fine... You must have misheard! This has nothing to do with Sophia! It's all my fault..."
Her voice cracked, her eyes red, but she stubbornly held back her tears.
Flynn saw this and felt a sharp pang in his heart.
He furrowed his brow and asked urgently, "What happened? Don't start crying. If it's really Sophia's fault, I'll stand up for you."
Isabella sniffled and exaggerated the story about her fans seeking revenge on her behalf.
"It's all my fault for not managing my fans better. They got way too extreme! But she didn't mean it; she was just feeling sorry for me."
"The White Family already called the cops. It's blown up online, and now a bunch of fans are threatening to unfollow me!"
The more Isabella spoke, the more upset she got.
She had worked so hard in the entertainment industry for years, finally amassing millions of fans.
Now, because of this incident, many of her fans had unfollowed her, even turning into haters.
The internet was now filled with insults, and her trending topics were all negative.
If this continued, her public image would be completely ruined!
It was all Sophia's fault!
If it weren't for her, Isabella would still be a shining star with hardly any scandals!
Olivia chimed in, "Ever since Sophia came back, this house has never been peaceful! Before she showed up, our family was fine. Just look at us now..."
Mentioning Sophia, Olivia immediately became furious.
She felt nothing but resentment for her biological daughter.
Seeing Isabella cry so pitifully, Olivia was both heartbroken and angry. "Of course, she wasn't raised by us. Sophia shows no consideration and even let the White Family call the cops, tarnishing Isabella's reputation!"
Isabella's sobs and Olivia's complaints filled the room, making Flynn suddenly feel irritated.
In the past, he would have stood by them.
But somehow, now he just felt annoyed.
"If you and Dad hadn't treated Sophia so harshly, would any of this have happened?" Flynn retorted coldly.
He sat on the couch, his brow tightly furrowed.
"Flynn, what's wrong with you today? Why are you defending that wretch?" Olivia noticed Flynn's unusual behavior and asked coldly.
"Nothing." Flynn took a deep breath, hiding his irritation.
"I just think Sophia didn't do anything wrong. This whole thing was caused by Isabella. If that hot water had really splashed on Sophia, she could have been disfigured! I would have called the cops too!" Flynn was just stating the facts; he wasn't feeling sorry for Sophia.
Isabella had always emphasized to him how important a girl's face was.
Isabella indeed valued her face highly, spending countless amounts on it every year.
If Sophia had been disfigured, her life would have been ruined.
"How can you not stand up for Isabella? And besides, Sophia is fine, isn't she? We brought her back, fed her, and took care of her. Who knew she wouldn't be grateful!" Olivia gritted her teeth, her eyes full of resentment.
Flynn had always thought of Olivia as graceful and gentle, never expecting her to show such a vicious expression.
He was stunned for a long time, thinking he must have seen wrong.
He rubbed his eyes and looked at Olivia again, who had already returned to her usual gentle demeanor.
Flynn slowly let out a sigh of relief.
He thought, how could Olivia show such an expression?
He must have been seeing things!
"Flynn, you don't care about me at all! I'm feeling so awful, and you're still defending someone else!" Isabella's displeasure was evident as she heard Flynn mention Sophia repeatedly.
She lowered her head and sobbed in grievance.
Listening to Isabella's soft cries, Flynn's heart softened.
After all, she was his little sister, whom he had doted on since childhood. Seeing Isabella so upset, Flynn felt bad too.
"Alright, alright, stop crying. It's all my fault..." Flynn quickly sat next to Isabella, gently stroking her hair, his voice becoming increasingly gentle.
"I believe my fan was just impulsive. She didn't mean it! If she's detained, she'll have a record, and her life will be ruined! Can you help me?"
Flynn silently sighed, thinking how pure and kind his Isabella was.
But this matter involved the White Family, and Flynn couldn't think of a good solution right away.
As he frowned in thought, Isabella continued, "In a few days, I'm getting engaged to Zander. If this blows up, I don't know what Zander's mother will think of me."
Flynn gently stroked Isabella's hair, comforting her in a low voice, "Zander's mother likes you so much, she won't let this small thing affect her opinion of you. The priority is to minimize the negative impact on your reputation."
Isabella wiped away her tears, her eyes red as she looked at Flynn. "Flynn, what should I do?"
Flynn pursed his lips in silence for a long time before slowly asking, "Do you have Sophia's contact information? I'll talk to her."
Isabella and Olivia both fell silent.
How could they have Sophia's contact information?
To them, Sophia was just an insignificant, invisible person.
Isabella frowned and said, "Sophia's phone broke the second day after she came back to the Brown Family. She probably doesn't have a phone now."
Saying this, Isabella suddenly felt a bit guilty.
Sophia's phone was broken by her.
But she didn't do it on purpose.
When Sophia first came to the Brown Family, Isabella wanted to find her but couldn't find her in her room.
The phone left on the table kept ringing, so she reached out to answer it.
But before she could pick it up, a cold voice startled her.
The phone fell to the ground.
An old model, it couldn't withstand the fall.
It broke into pieces.
Even the battery fell out.
The screen shattered like a spider web.
She was startled, and her eyes reddened.
Flynn happened to pass by and, seeing her red eyes, thought Sophia had bullied her.
So he scolded Sophia harshly.
Flynn obviously remembered this incident too, his face looking a bit grim.
A trace of anger flashed in his eyes. "Didn't I tell you to take her to buy a new phone? You didn't get her one?"
Flynn remembered instructing Isabella to take Sophia to pick out a new phone.
Although he didn't want to admit he had wrongly scolded Sophia, he didn't want to be petty over such a small matter.
Isabella, feeling guilty, lowered her head and nervously defended herself. "I-I was going to take her, but then..."
But then, she had completely forgotten about it.
