Chapter 65 Take Back His Words

Chapter 66 What Is So Good About That Jinx

On the way there, he lost track of how many times he wanted to floor it and blow through a red light.

He even wished he could just sprout wings and fly straight to Sophia.

Only now did he realize just how much she meant to him.

If anything happened to Sophia, Benjamin had no idea how he'd handle it.

"Why'd you take back your words?" Sophia asked, looking at Benjamin with confusion, not quite grasping what he was getting at.

Benjamin turned to face her, a small smile playing on his lips, eyes brimming with possessive desire.

"Because... I've fallen for you, Sophia. Please, don't ever leave me, okay?"

Sophia blushed, her cheeks turning a delicate shade of pink.

Her big, clear eyes sparkled like they could peer into the deepest parts of a person's soul.

"Honey, I love you too!" Sophia replied without a moment's hesitation.

Looking into Benjamin's deep eyes, she felt a rush of joy, her heart pounding uncontrollably.

But those eyes held only delight, not the love Benjamin desperately sought.

Benjamin smiled, his grip on Sophia's hand tightening, his lips curling into a knowing smile.

No matter. He had all the time in the world to show Sophia what love truly was.

At the White Manor, Preston paced back and forth in the living room, glancing anxiously at the door every few seconds.

"Why aren't they back yet? Sophia couldn't be seriously hurt, could she?" Preston had just heard about the accident at Sophia's school and was beside himself with worry.

Even though he hadn't known Sophia for long, he knew she had a heart of gold.

After spending time together and seeing her dedication to helping Benjamin recover, Preston had come to think of her as family.

As soon as he heard about Sophia's injury, he dropped everything and waited anxiously for their return.

Finn was also worried but tried to calm him down. "Mr. Preston White, don't worry. With Mr. Benjamin White there, nothing too bad should happen. They should be back soon."

Just as he finished speaking, they heard the sound of a car pulling into the driveway.

Preston quickly walked outside.

Amelia, who had come downstairs to get a drink of water, felt a pang of jealousy seeing how concerned Preston was for Sophia.

She had been married into the White Family for nearly thirty years and had never seen Preston look so worried about anyone—except for Benjamin.

And now Sophia too.

Watching Preston's back, Amelia felt a surge of discontent.

Preston was so biased.

She had given birth to three sons. Alaric was a respected medical professor, Cillian was a top star in the entertainment industry with countless fans. So why did Preston favor Benjamin, the one who seemed to bring bad luck?

What was so special about Benjamin?

Why did Preston value him so much, even entrusting him with the White Group?

Clearly, Alaric, as the eldest son, should have been the one to inherit the company!

In the driveway, as soon as Preston stepped out of the house, he saw Benjamin carrying Sophia out of the car.

His heart sank, and he quickly approached.

"What's going on? Is Sophia out cold? Is she hurt bad? Do we need to call a doctor?"

Seeing Preston so worried, Benjamin paused slightly.

He looked at the unconscious Sophia in his arms, his lips twitching slightly. "Don't worry, Grandpa. She's just sleeping. It's nothing serious."

He had already checked her over before they arrived. Aside from a burn on her arm, Sophia had no other injuries.

And from the video Chase had sent, it was clear that Sophia had been holding her own.

Preston sighed in relief. "Good, good! As long as she's okay."

He stepped aside to let Benjamin carry her inside.

"What about the person who hurt Sophia?"

Benjamin paused for a moment before responding quietly, "Alaric is handling it. We initially wanted the school to deal with it, but now... I've instructed Chase to call the cops."

"Why?" Preston asked, puzzled.

"Under pressure from Chase and Alaric, the person confessed they were acting on someone's orders. We haven't found out who yet."

Preston was furious. "Find out! We must find out! How dare they mess with the Whites! They must have a death wish!"

"Grandpa, keep your voice down. Sophia is still sleeping," Benjamin said softly, his eyes filled with helplessness.

Preston froze, then quickly covered his mouth.

He waved Benjamin on, lowering his voice. "Hurry upstairs and rest. That burn on Sophia's arm looks terrible. Have you applied any medicine?"

"Yes, Grandpa. It's been taken care of."

Preston sighed in relief.

Benjamin carried Sophia to the bedroom and gently laid her on the large, soft bed.

Watching her sleep, he sighed softly before leaving the room.

As he stepped out, he saw Finn waiting outside, looking worried.

"Mr. Benjamin White, Mr. Preston White wants to see you in the study," Finn said as soon as he saw him.

Benjamin nodded and headed toward the study.

In the study, Preston was sitting on the couch, looking somber.

When Benjamin entered, Preston waved him over. "Benjamin, come sit."

"Grandpa, is there something you need?" Benjamin asked as he sat down, puzzled.

Preston sighed deeply, pointing to the tablet in front of him. "This has caused quite a stir. It's already trending on social media."

"Grandpa, I won't let this go. If Sophia hadn't dodged in time, her injuries would have been much worse." Benjamin's deep eyes flashed with anger.

Preston wasn't surprised by Benjamin's determination.

Having raised Benjamin himself, he knew his temperament well.

Benjamin had finally found someone he wanted to protect. There was no way he would let the culprit off easily.

After a moment's thought, Preston asked, "I heard the culprit is a fan of some celebrity? What's the story?"

Preston hadn't had anyone investigate Isabella, so he was unaware she was a popular figure in the entertainment industry.

Benjamin's eyes narrowed, his voice icy. "The Brown Family... they can't be allowed to continue."

Preston was shocked by Benjamin's words.
