Chapter 56 Sophia's Resilience
To make room for her, Isabella even had to give up her walk-in closet.
The Brown family had always treated Sophia so well.
Why would Sophia betray them?
Sophia listened to Flynn's words and couldn't help but laugh out loud. Her voice was sweet and clear, tinged with a hint of undisguised sarcasm.
"Flynn, are you seriously buying your own lies?" She stepped forward, stopping just half a step away from Flynn, looking up at him. "Eloping, being kept… You really have the nerve to say that. Why hasn't the Brown family gone bankrupt yet? Because Hayden had the guts to sell his daughter!"
She snatched the documents back from Flynn's hand and sneered, "But cutting ties with the Brown family for a marriage contract? Totally worth it. Don't worry, you won't have to worry about me stealing Isabella's affection anymore."
With that, Sophia took out three hundred dollars from her wallet and handed it to the waiter, who was hesitating whether to intervene. "Consider this cup on me. Keep the change."
She shoved the money into the waiter's hand and left without looking back. Her departure was graceful, without the slightest hesitation.
Flynn stood there, stunned, unable to recover for a long time.
Even after seeing those documents, Flynn still couldn't believe it.
How could Hayden and Olivia possibly do such a thing?
It was absolutely impossible!
Sophia had clearly eloped and was being kept by someone, Olivia had said it herself.
How could she possibly marry into the White family?
This couldn't be true!
Flynn looked up and saw that a crowd had already gathered around them. They stared at him with eyes full of ridicule and anger.
For a moment, Flynn suddenly felt the urge to flee.
But before he could leave, his phone rang in his pocket.
It was Isabella calling.
Flynn sniffled and quickly answered the call.
"Flynn, what are you doing? Why did it take you so long to answer?"
A sweet, charming voice came through the phone, sounding slightly petulant.
Flynn swallowed and hurriedly left the café. He found a secluded corner and said into the phone, "Nothing, I was in class just now and didn't hear it."
Isabella responded, not paying much attention, and didn't notice the tension in Flynn's voice.
She said excitedly, "Flynn, I saw a dress I really like. It's so beautiful, I feel like it was made just for me… Flynn, are you listening?"
Isabella pouted in displeasure.
Flynn snapped back to reality and instinctively said, "If you like it, buy it. Don't worry about the cost…"
Before he could finish, the image of those documents flashed through his mind, and it felt like something was stuck in his throat, preventing him from speaking.
Isabella, however, was very happy and said cheerfully, "You're the best! But, but I won't buy it. That dress is too expensive, it costs two hundred thousand dollars!"
The Brown family might be considered wealthy, but they were at the bottom of the hierarchy.
Isabella was doted on in the Brown family, but she only had a monthly allowance of thirty thousand dollars.
In the past, if Isabella said something like this, Flynn would have immediately let her use his card.
Isabella was his most cherished sister, and he would never allow her to suffer any hardship.
But now, just thinking about that financing agreement, Flynn couldn't bring himself to say anything.
Flynn lowered his gaze and tentatively asked, "Isabella, did Dad send Sophia to the White family?"
"How did you know…" Isabella realized she had slipped up and quickly covered her mouth, hastily explaining, "Listen to me! Our family is facing bankruptcy, and Sophia, as part of the family, should contribute! Do you really want Mom, Dad, and me to end up begging on the streets?"
Flynn frowned, sensing something was off, but before he could think it through, he heard Isabella's sobbing.
Isabella's tearful voice reached Flynn's ears, "It's all my fault, I'm the one to blame. Flynn, I'm the most useless one in the family. It should be me going to the White family. How about I talk to Mom and Dad and let me go to the White family and bring Sophia back?"
"No!" Flynn quickly stopped her. He rubbed his temples, feeling a sense of helplessness rising from his heart, "Isabella, you're not in good health. You can't go to the White family. You're different from Sophia; she's strong."
Flynn silently comforted himself, thinking that since Sophia had survived all these years, she must be strong.
However, Isabellahad been pampered since childhood, had a weak body, and suffered from congenital heart disease.
If she were sent to the White family, she would surely face a lot of hardship.
Flynn's mind felt like it was being torn apart by two conflicting thoughts.
One voice said, "Sophia is your biological sister; she's already suffered so much. Are you really going to let her continue suffering?"
The other voice said, "Isabella is not in good health, Sophia is strong. If you have to choose one, it has to be Sophia."
In the end, the second voice won.
Flynn silently comforted himself, telling himself that it was okay. The White family was a top-tier family that the Brown family couldn't even dream of associating with.
Even if Benjamin was sickly, the White family would never mistreat her.
Soon, Flynn pushed away the last bit of guilt in his heart.
Compared to Sophia, Isabella was the one he had watched grow up.
The thought of Isabella suffering caused Flynn's heart to ache uncontrollably.
Sophia left the café and opened her game account, immediately blocking Flynn.
After doing this, Sophia's face lit up with a radiant smile.
She hoped that the Browns would never appear before her again to disgust her.
Otherwise, she couldn't guarantee she wouldn't act impulsively and do something crazy.
She turned off her phone and looked up, seeing a familiar car parked by the roadside.
Benjamin, tall and imposing, was leaning against the car door, his fingers lightly tapping on the car as his deep eyes stared straight at her.
Sophia felt warmth in her heart.
The Browns always thought bringing her back was a huge favor.
But to Sophia, it meant nothing.
It didn't matter; she had severed ties with the Brown family.
Now, she had someone who genuinely cared about her.
Sophia quickened her pace and ran towards Benjamin.
As she got closer, Benjamin slowly opened his arms, and Sophia threw herself into his embrace.
Benjamin had just straightened up when Sophia collided with him, hugging him tightly.
He lifted his hand, his warm palm gently rubbing Sophia's fluffy head, "What happened? Did someone bully you? I'll go teach them a lesson."
Benjamin knew Sophia was meeting Flynn today.
While Sophia was in the café, Benjamin had people investigate what had happened to Sophia since she returned to the Brown family.
Only then did he realize how much his Sophia had suffered before meeting him.
