Chapter 459 Jealous of Him Having a Wife
Facing Matthew's eye roll, Benjamin remained completely unfazed.
More precisely, he had long gotten used to it.
Matthew was just jealous that he had a wife!
So he wasn't worried at all. His deep eyes stared straight at him, waiting for his response.
In less than half a minute, Matthew finally gave in: "Fine, forget the cost price. 20% off, how about that?"
Benjamin: "0.1% off."
Matthew: "...15% off?"
"0.5% off!"
"10% off, that's my final offer!"
Benjamin's lips curved slightly: "Deal."
Matthew rubbed his forehead helplessly, feeling like he'd been tricked but unable to find any flaws in the logic.
So cunning!
In the end, Benjamin successfully obtained that order information.
He leaned back in his chair, eyes lowered, his fingertips gently opening the folder.
These files involved the Lumina Group's order information, which was private content, so it wasn't convenient to send it to him.
That's why Matthew had called him to come over in person.
Actually, he hadn't held much hope initially, but unexpectedly Matthew had really found some clues.
He quickly scanned through the order information, his slender fingers lightly brushing across the papers, his expression unreadable.
Seeing the change in his expression, Matthew asked in a low voice: "These orders are all the bulk purchases the Lumina Group has made since its establishment. Notice anything?"
Benjamin didn't answer his question, but said meaningfully: "Do you remember what I told you before, that all the equipment at GeneCipher Society gets updated once a year?"
Matthew nodded: "I remember, but I can't find similar order information here."
He had checked all the orders. Although a few companies had made repeat purchases, they were all several years apart.
According to Benjamin, GeneCipher Society had a huge demand for equipment, so they couldn't possibly wait several years between updates.
So he hadn't been able to spot any problems.
"Just check it out." Benjamin's lips curved as he took out his phone and called Sophia.
The phone rang twice before someone picked up.
Sophia's sweet, soft voice came through: "Honey, why are you calling me?"
Benjamin's expression instantly softened, completely different from how he'd looked when facing Matthew.
"I need your help with something. Sophia, help me look up a few companies, and if possible, find their registration and filing information."
"Hold on a second."
The sound of Sophia's footsteps came through. Benjamin's voice was low and gentle: "No rush."
Matthew silently observed Benjamin's expression, his feelings quite complicated.
Actually, at first he didn't like Benjamin at all, and didn't want Sophia to be with him.
Before Sophia met Benjamin, he had already heard of Benjamin.
But the rumors back then weren't very pleasant, saying Benjamin was physically weak, had a gloomy personality, and acted with ruthless efficiency...
In his eyes, Sophia was a girl who needed to be cherished and protected for a lifetime.
How could such a sweet and gentle girl like Sophia choose a man like that?
Moreover, Sophia had even given up the antidote that could save her life for Benjamin's sake.
But after Matthew spent more time with him, he gradually let go of his prejudices.
He admired Benjamin, but also resented him. During those two years when he "died," Sophia suffered every day.
Every time he saw Sophia in such pain, he would curse Benjamin hundreds of times.
At Maple Grove Villas, Sophia ran upstairs, opened her computer, and said to the person on the phone: "I'm ready, go ahead."
Benjamin immediately listed the names of several companies.
Sophia put her phone on speaker and placed it on the desk beside her. Her fair, delicate fingers flew rapidly across the keyboard.
A few minutes later, Sophia sent the information she'd found to Benjamin's phone.
After receiving the message, Benjamin showed a knowing expression.
Matthew asked curiously: "What is it? What did you find?"
Benjamin handed over his phone: "See for yourself."
Matthew was initially indifferent, but when he clearly saw the name on it, he couldn't help but freeze.
"Elijah? All these companies are actually his?"
They had investigated Elijah's background before, but that information had been deliberately erased.
They thought the trail had gone cold, but now things had taken an unexpected turn, and they finally saw a glimmer of hope.
However, it was no wonder they hadn't noticed before. Although Elijah was the legal representative of these companies, he wasn't actually the one in charge.
The person in charge of these companies changed every year, so no one would think in that direction.
If Benjamin hadn't given them the hint, they might never have known that they'd had connections with the Lumina Group all along.
"According to past patterns, GeneCipher Society buys large batches of equipment around November every year. This year should be no exception."
It was already mid-November, so they should make a move soon.
Matthew couldn't help but worry: "GeneCipher Society has moved most of their people and equipment abroad. Even if they do come to buy, we won't be able to determine the exact location."
The equipment transported abroad in the previous two years had all been placed in a warehouse in the suburbs.
Benjamin had heard his subordinates mention this before. He hadn't thought much of it at the time, but thinking about it now, they probably did it to avoid being discovered.
Given their cautious nature, they probably wouldn't let them find out the location of their real base.
"If we can't do it openly, we'll do it secretly." Benjamin's eyes narrowed, a cold gleam flashing in them.
After a pause, he pointed to several other companies on the order list: "These are all in Novaria. I'll send people to scope them out in the next few days."
Large equipment wasn't convenient to transport. Even if they had set up warehouses, they wouldn't be too far from their base.
Either way, this was a major breakthrough for them.
After leaving the Lumina Group, he sent the delivery addresses from the orders to Chase, asking him to send people to investigate.
On his way home, he passed by a dessert shop and bought Sophia's favorite little cakes, and also went to the supermarket to buy lots of snacks.
When he got home, he found no one downstairs, so he put everything on the coffee table and went upstairs.
In the bedroom, Sophia was lying in bed, her small body curled up, the bedding forming a little mound.
Benjamin frowned and walked worriedly to the bedside: "Sophia?"
Sophia slowly opened her eyes, meeting Benjamin's deep, dark gaze.
"Are you not feeling well? Why are you sleeping at this hour?"
Benjamin used the back of his hand to check the temperature of her forehead. Finding everything normal, he breathed a sigh of relief.
"I'm fine, probably didn't sleep well last night. I'm a bit tired."
"Good that you're okay. Sleep then. I won't bother you tonight." Benjamin lovingly touched her fair, tender cheek and leaned down to kiss her.
"Okay."
Sophia smiled and soon fell asleep again.
She'd probably been too tired lately. Not only did she have to help M formulate a new burn scar removal medicine, but she also had to study psychological hypnosis courses.
Plus with Lachlan's situation, her nerves had been constantly on edge.
When nerves are stretched tight for too long, exhaustion is inevitable.
