Chapter 457 His True Luck
Her lips happened to meet his, foreheads touching, eyes meeting, everything understood without words.
Benjamin rolled over, pressing Sophia beneath him and deepening the kiss.
Caught off guard and completely unprepared, Sophia instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck in response.
They didn't say a word, yet it seemed like they'd said everything.
After being together for so long, a single look or gesture was enough for them to know what the other wanted to say.
Just like now, Benjamin seemed to treat this kiss as a celebration of his recovered memory, more like a gift to Sophia.
She could feel how gentle he was at this moment, how emotional he felt.
Downstairs, Matthew and Alaric were anxiously waiting.
As time passed bit by bit, they started losing focus on their work.
Every now and then, they'd look up toward the stairs.
They had no idea that Benjamin and Sophia upstairs had already finished the treatment.
Alaric raised his hand to check the time, his brow furrowed. "It's been so long, why aren't they done yet?"
He'd been there when Clifton treated Benjamin.
Except for the first time which took nearly five hours, the sessions after that were all around two hours.
And this was Sophia's first time treating Benjamin - what if something went wrong?
Matthew was clearly more optimistic, reassuring him: "I trust Sophia, let's wait a bit longer."
Alaric's expression was serious: "It's not that I don't trust Sophia, I'm just worried."
Matthew: "That's because you don't know Sophia well enough. If she wasn't confident enough, she'd never mess around with Benjamin's health."
Alaric let out a heavy sigh and compromised: "Fine, let's wait a bit longer."
After a pause, he added: "Another half hour. If they're still not out, we're going in to check."
He couldn't care about anything else right now - until he saw Benjamin come out, his heart would stay in his throat.
Matthew shook his head helplessly and said nothing more.
Fortunately, before the half hour was up, the upstairs door opened.
Benjamin and Sophia came down hand in hand. Benjamin looked to be in good spirits.
Only Sophia seemed to have a flush on her cheeks, her lips unnaturally rosy.
Seeing this, what didn't they understand?
Matthew and Alaric exchanged glances, cleared their throats and asked: "Sophia, how did the treatment go?"
Sophia turned to look at Benjamin, her eyes full of smiles.
Benjamin nodded to the two of them. "My memory has fully recovered."
Actually, he hadn't wanted to tell Sophia directly - he'd wanted to surprise her.
But when he opened his eyes just now, he was met with a pair of eyes full of expectation.
He couldn't bear to keep her worried.
Hearing this, Alaric let out a huge sigh of relief and reached out to hug Benjamin tightly.
He'd always been able to control his emotions, but right now he couldn't hold it together anymore.
He'd invested too much emotion in Benjamin.
Even before Benjamin was born, he'd looked forward to his arrival.
Later he got his wish for a little brother, but Benjamin suffered so much.
From the moment he was born, Benjamin was rejected by his parents, abused by his mother, poisoned, and later kidnapped by the GeneCipher Society.
He'd watched helplessly as Benjamin went from an innocent, naive child to becoming increasingly cold and gloomy.
To say it didn't break his heart would be a lie.
But thankfully, since Sophia appeared, everything had slowly gotten better.
Benjamin had finally found happiness.
Benjamin sensed his emotional fluctuation and patted his back.
"I'm okay now, Alaric."
"You need to be okay from now on too."
"I will be, and so will you."
"Okay."
Watching this scene, Sophia and Matthew couldn't help but smile with relief and satisfaction.
"Sophia, congratulations on gaining another new skill."
Matthew raised his hand and ruffled Sophia's hair, his gaze gentle.
Sophia squinted contentedly, her clear eyes sparkling with brilliant light.
"Matthew, aren't I amazing?"
Matthew chuckled softly: "More than amazing? Our Sophia is the best."
Things that some people couldn't achieve in their entire lives, she'd done effortlessly.
Sophia's abilities were even stronger than he'd imagined.
Sophia proudly puffed out her chest: "Of course! Don't you know whose junior I am!"
"Such a sweet talker."
Meeting her sparkling eyes, Matthew felt his heart soften.
"I want to tell Grandpa this news, he'll be so happy."
Alaric took out his phone, preparing to call Preston.
Benjamin stopped him: "No need for that hassle. We haven't been to the White Manor in a while, let's surprise him in person."
"Okay, let's go then. I'm starving."
Alaric clutched his stomach and hurried outside.
Benjamin and Sophia exchanged glances, and he took her hand as they followed.
To surprise Preston, they didn't call ahead.
When Preston heard they'd come to the White Manor, he almost thought he'd heard wrong.
Leaning on his cane, supported by Finn, he walked outside.
"Why did they suddenly come today? Nothing's wrong, is there?"
Finn reassured him: "Mr. White, don't worry. They're all adults now, what could be wrong?"
Preston snorted: "You never know. Haven't they caused enough trouble?"
Finn was both helpless and amused, thinking to himself: people get crankier as they age, and that's exactly Preston.
Downstairs, Preston saw the two brothers arrive with Sophia, and the smile in his eyes was about to overflow.
"Grandpa!"
Preston responded happily: "Why didn't you tell me you were coming?"
Sophia smiled and took his arm, saying: "Of course we wanted to surprise you! Are you happy?"
"Happy! So happy! Sophia's getting sweeter and sweeter!"
Alaric smiled and told him about Benjamin's memory recovery.
Preston's eyes filled with disbelief, and he gripped his cane excitedly, his eyes instantly reddening.
"Good! It's good that you've recovered!"
Benjamin was moved and stepped forward to hug him: "I'm sorry, Grandpa, for making you worry before."
"As long as you're all okay, I'm satisfied!"
Old people just love harmonious atmospheres, hoping their children and grandchildren are all healthy and safe.
Now his wish had finally come true.
Although his two sons weren't very promising, Benjamin and Sophia gave him a sense of fulfillment.
Benjamin put his arm around Sophia's shoulder and smiled: "It's all thanks to Sophia. With her treating me, I recovered so quickly."
Sophia felt a bit embarrassed by his words. "Not really? I only did the last treatment, everything else was Clifton's work."
Preston waved his hand. "Whoever it was, Sophia helped tremendously."
Clifton was also someone Sophia had found through her connections, so Benjamin wasn't wrong at all.
"Sophia, Benjamin is so lucky to have married you."
Sophia's lips curved slightly as she squeezed Benjamin's hand: "I'm lucky to have met him too."
