Chapter 436 Scar Removal Ointment
Just then, the door was suddenly knocked.
A subordinate walked in and said to him, "Sir, Robert is here."
"Please, show him in."
M quickly composed himself and looked toward the doorway.
"Magnus, long time no see." Robert walked in from outside, looking at Magnus with a smile in his eyes.
Magnus's face beneath the mask softened a bit as he walked toward him.
"Long time no see, Robert. What brings you here?"
Robert sighed helplessly and waved his hand. "What else? I was worried about you. I've been calling you these past few days and you never picked up."
Magnus paused, opened his phone, and found there were indeed several missed calls.
Before receiving Benjamin's call, he had been secretly following Elijah's people.
To avoid being detected while tailing them, he had put his phone on silent.
When he got back to his room and took out his phone, just as he was about to take a shower, he received Benjamin's call.
That call lasted over an hour, and he simply didn't have time to check other missed calls.
He explained helplessly, "Sorry, I didn't hear it."
Robert bluntly called him out. "Come on, I just heard you on the phone earlier."
Magnus just smiled without further explanation.
He asked, "By the way, why did you suddenly come here? Not staying back home with your apprentice?"
Robert waved his hand. "Don't even mention it. I can't keep her around anymore."
Magnus asked curiously, "What happened?"
"It's your son. He somehow got beaten up and hospitalized with a broken bone. Sophia stays by his bedside every day and has no time to visit me anymore."
As Robert spoke, he glared at him with a resentful look.
Magnus frowned with concern. "What did you say? Benjamin is injured?"
Robert: "..."
Was that really his point?
The point was that Benjamin had taken Sophia away, and Sophia couldn't even spare time for him anymore.
Magnus's heart jumped, and he continued asking, "Robert, tell me quickly, what exactly happened?"
Robert looked up at him, then waved him over. "Sit down, let's talk slowly."
Magnus was just like before—impatient, unable to stay calm.
He hadn't changed at all.
But thinking about it, Robert realized that if he had really changed, he wouldn't be Magnus anymore.
Once Magnus sat down, he stopped being mysterious and told him about Valentin appearing in Silverlight City.
"Your son is pretty badly hurt, but with Sophia there, what are you worried about?"
Robert had great confidence in Sophia's medical skills.
Back then, Dane had praised him as a once-in-a-century medical genius.
But in his view, Sophia was even better.
If she had been born a few decades earlier, he probably wouldn't have had his moment.
Hearing that Valentin had gone to Silverlight City, Magnus's expression immediately became serious.
He pressed his lips together and asked coldly, "Are you sure the information is accurate? I haven't heard anything in Celestria."
"This Mr. Bryant... comes and goes like a ghost. It's normal that you couldn't find out."
Knowing he had always wanted to investigate GeneCipher Society, Robert could only console him quietly.
Actually, he was also curious why Valentin was so capable, going to Silverlight City without anyone knowing.
Even Magnus and Benjamin hadn't received any advance notice.
Magnus shook his head, pulling himself out of his complicated emotions.
He looked at Robert. "You made this special trip just to tell me this?"
Robert: "Of course not. Do you think I'm that bored?"
He took out a medicine bottle from his bag and handed it to Magnus.
Magnus's gaze fell on the bottle, his eyes confused. "What's this?"
"Burn ointment. Benjamin will find out your identity sooner or later. Do you really want to meet him wearing that mask?"
Robert and Magnus had met at GeneCipher Society.
Back then, to cure the poison in Sophia's body, he had traveled to many places and studied many formulas.
But ultimately, nothing worked.
He had no choice, and by chance, he found a lead to GeneCipher Society.
Following this lead, he went straight to GeneCipher Society's new base in the country.
To continue researching an antidote, he had to lie to his apprentice, saying he was visiting an old friend.
In reality, he went to GeneCipher Society under a false identity.
He didn't know until he got there just how terrifying those people were.
Not only were they inhumane, but they also experimented on living people.
Magnus was one of their test subjects.
At that time, Magnus had been injected with a drug and was dying. He saved his life.
Later, he would often secretly bring medicine to Magnus.
Over the years, he had saved many people in GeneCipher Society but still couldn't find an antidote.
Later on, he met Benjamin and after investigating, discovered that Benjamin had actually married Sophia.
The Sophia he had raised for so many years had been so easily married off to Benjamin!
And without him knowing!
It made him so angry!
But seeing that Benjamin was on the verge of death, he had to save him.
Magnus reached out and took the ointment.
The bottle felt cool in his palm, and for a moment, he couldn't describe what he was feeling.
"I... don't know how to face him. Robert, I'm not a good father."
Robert's heart tightened, and he patted his shoulder.
"Don't think like that. You've always been fulfilling a father's responsibility. Benjamin will understand."
"Really?" Magnus's eyes reddened, full of hope.
Robert opened his mouth but in the end said nothing.
Actually, he wasn't sure either.
After all, everything had started because of Magnus. He had no right to comment on his family matters.
Magnus, getting no answer, smiled bitterly. "Actually, I know in my heart that I owe the children a lot, and I owe Amelia a lot too."
Robert didn't know how to comfort him for a moment and could only say, "You should still use this medicine. What if you actually meet them and scare the children?"
He wasn't exaggerating. With Magnus's current appearance, he'd probably make small children cry.
Magnus stared at the ointment without speaking.
Actually, Robert had specially made scar-removal ointment for him before, but he hadn't used it.
He had to constantly remind himself of all the suffering he'd endured over the years because of GeneCipher Society.
Remind himself not to forget his hatred, to find out who was behind GeneCipher Society and avenge his family!
He gripped the bottle tightly and said to Robert, "I'll keep the medicine. I'll use it when I want to."
"That's right! This medicine is a special formula that Sophia made herself." Robert smiled with relief.
Magnus showed a hint of surprise. "Sophia made this? Then it should work well."
"Not just well—it's definitely amazing at removing scars, even better than what I gave you before."
Mentioning Sophia, Robert proudly lifted his chin.
Sophia was worthy of being the apprentice he personally trained—truly amazing!
