Chapter 332 Don't Come Over
This scene left everyone in the room completely stunned, their eyes widening in disbelief.
"What's going on? What did you do to him?"
Sophia blinked innocently and shrugged, "Nothing much, just one needle. He couldn't handle it himself - how is that my fault?"
Knox, curled up on the floor, heard this and the veins on his temple throbbed.
Just one needle... that's all?
One more needle and he'd probably be dead.
It hurt so much. Even though Knox had been through pain tolerance training, he was still powerless against it.
His face turned pale, cold sweat gradually forming on his forehead. In his daze, a thought suddenly popped into his head: maybe it would be better to just die.
It really hurt too much. Why should he keep living? Why should he endure all this?
Sophia crouched down, looking at Knox who was rolling on the floor in pain.
"Still won't talk? You only get one chance. If you won't talk, I've got a dozen more needles here. I guarantee you'll enjoy a full-body spa treatment."
Knox's eyelid twitched hard as he silently recited the organization's code in his mind, putting on a defiant attitude.
Sophia sighed with some regret and pulled out another silver needle from her bag, "Looks like you can handle quite a bit of pain."
Hearing Sophia's words, Knox instinctively opened his eyes, then his pupils shrank sharply.
He saw Sophia crouching down, the needle in her hand getting closer and closer.
That needle was as thin as a hair, yet it filled him with fear.
Knox immediately panicked, scrambling up from the floor and backing away, his eyes full of terror.
"Don't come closer, stay back!"
"What are you afraid of? I'm pretty skilled at this, I won't mess up. It'll just hurt for a moment."
The curve of Sophia's lips deepened, scaring Knox into a shudder. He closed his eyes in humiliation, "I'll talk! I'll tell you everything!"
If this pain continued, he'd probably die.
Before today, he'd always thought that after all these years of living on the edge, he wasn't afraid of death anymore.
But when that heart-wrenching pain hit, even death seemed like a luxury.
In that instant, an infinite desire to survive burst forth within him.
Sophia smiled with satisfaction and sat back down in her chair, "Wouldn't it have been better to do this earlier?"
Sidney walked over, pushed the man back in front of Sophia, and barked, "Talk!"
The other men were shocked. Everything had changed too suddenly - no one had time to react.
By the time they collected their thoughts, they found their brother had betrayed them.
"We... we were sent by Elijah. He told us to watch you, to watch the White family..."
Knox's face was deathly pale, his words broken and halting as he endured the pain.
Sophia looked at him with an indifferent expression, not feeling the slightest bit of sympathy.
She wasn't some saint who would feel sorry for someone who wanted to hurt her and her family.
When Elijah sent them to spy on her, he should have expected this day would come.
The restrained Knox was on the verge of tears as he struggled to explain everything.
Outside the door, Thaddeus had heard most of what happened, then walked in and asked, "Besides spying on Sophia, were you also planning to assassinate Celestria's CEO?"
Knox's breathing stopped, his eyes widening in shock.
How did he know?
Thaddeus had dealt with these types of people for so long that he could guess their intentions from just one look.
So he quickly got his answer from Knox's eyes.
Just as he suspected, this group wasn't just here to spy on Sophia - their bigger target was Celestria's CEO, Wilford.
After coming out of the interrogation room, Thaddeus's attitude toward Sophia became even warmer, "Ms. Brown, I have some things I'd like to ask you about. Do you have time?"
Sophia glanced at Finnley and pointed at herself in surprise, "Just me?"
Thaddeus also glanced briefly at Finnley and said, "Yes, right now I only trust Ms. Brown."
Finnley wasn't surprised. He reached out and ruffled Sophia's hair, saying, "Go ahead, I'll wait for you outside."
"Okay, I'll be out soon." Feeling the warmth from his palm, Sophia nuzzled affectionately, then left with Thaddeus.
Finnley's eyes followed her small figure, his gaze deep and unreadable.
Sidney stood beside him and said, "Ms. Brown is smarter than I imagined."
Finnley withdrew his gaze, his eyes suddenly turning cold, though the corners of his lips curved up, "Yes, she's very smart."
Though Sophia seemed so small, she always gave people unexpected surprises.
Sophia seemed to have endless energy bursting out, making people want to get close to her, and even more, want to possess her.
He didn't remember what kind of feelings he had for Sophia before, but every time he faced her, he could deeply feel his heart beating.
It was a feeling he'd never experienced before.
In the past, he'd always felt he was someone rejected by this world.
He had no parents, no family - only the organization would take him in.
He trained frantically in GeneCipher Society, attempting all kinds of impossible missions, willingly serving as those people's walking blood bank.
His entire world was dark, as if he could see the end at a glance.
And that end was an abyss.
Until... she appeared.
She was like a beam of light in the darkness, bright and brilliant, illuminating his heart and dispelling the gloom in his world.
The moment she approached him, Finnley felt that nothing else seemed to matter anymore.
Sidney noticed the change in Finnley's emotions and became more curious about them.
Speaking of which, he had some connection with the White family.
Actually, he was Zander's cousin.
Years ago, when Mason arranged the engagement with the Brown family, they initially wanted Sidney to marry Sophia.
But in the end, Zander's mother used some tricks to frame his mother.
His mother came from a poor background and was already looked down upon by everyone in the Stewart family.
After that incident, Mason grew even more disgusted with his mother, and his attitude toward him became much colder too.
In the end, the engagement went to Zander.
Who would have thought that through a series of mishaps, Sophia got lost, and Zander ended up engaged to the Brown family's adopted daughter, Isabella.
Later, when Sophia returned, she was inexplicably married off to Benjamin by the Brown family.
So life is really unpredictable.
Today was Sidney's first time meeting Sophia, and from the first glance, he really liked her.
She had an indescribable charm that made it impossible to look away.
Of course, his fondness for Sophia was more about admiration, a kindred spirit feeling, mixed with a bit of regret.
But that was all it was.
Finnley naturally didn't know that his wife had almost caught someone's attention.
After Sidney left, Finnley took out his phone from his pocket.
In just an hour or two, he had dozens of unread messages on his phone.
All from Elijah.
"Finnley, are you trying to rebel? I sent you to spy on Sophia, not to have a romance with her!"
"Have you lost your mind? You actually let Sophia capture our people!"
"Do you want to betray GeneCipher Society? Aren't you worried about Mr. Bryant's revenge?"
Finnley's gaze paused for a moment on "Mr. Bryant," then he slowly pulled a cold smile.
He lowered his eyes, scrolling up through the messages one by one - all angry questions from Elijah.
His pale, slender fingers pressed on the screen, clearing all the messages, blocking the account, then turning off his phone and putting it back in his pocket.
This was the first time in his memory that he'd done something against GeneCipher Society's orders, but he didn't regret it.
