Chapter 175 I Didn't Come Specifically to Save You
Sawyer was somewhat surprised. He had never seen medicine work this well before.
Although he was still conscious, his temperature was actually quite high too. He was relying purely on willpower to hold on until now.
Otherwise, he would definitely have passed out like Cillian.
But now, in just ten minutes or so, his body was rapidly improving. All thanks to that tiny fever-reducing pill.
It was simply incredible!
He had had fevers before, and they usually required injections or several days of continuous medication to fully recover.
For a moment, Sawyer looked at Sophia with some confusion and puzzlement.
How did Sophia have such powerful medicine?
Also, he hadn't asked earlier - how did Sophia know he was filming here? Even Olivia, Hayden, and Isabella didn't know the exact location of his shoot.
How did Sophia know?
"Sophia, you..."
Sophia slowly raised her eyes. The cave wasn't large, so by the flashlight's beam, she could clearly see the expression in Sawyer's eyes.
She chuckled softly, the corners of her mouth curving into a meaningful smile. "Don't worry, I didn't come here specifically to save you."
Sawyer narrowed his eyes, stunned for a moment.
Sophia wasn't here to save him?
How was that possible?
Sophia had only recently been brought back home and shouldn't know many people.
If she wasn't here looking for him, how could she coincidentally appear here?
Sawyer looked at Sophia, thinking she must be too embarrassed to admit she came looking for him.
While feeling helpless, Sawyer suddenly felt a touch of gratitude.
He cleared his throat, glanced at Sophia, and couldn't help saying, "Sophia, if you promise not to bully Isabella anymore and stop going against her, I can treat you better from now on."
Sophia slowly raised her eyes, a hint of mockery flashing in her bright almond-shaped eyes.
Before she could speak, she heard Sawyer continue, "Although you're my biological sister, Isabella is someone I watched grow up. I absolutely won't take back my kindness to her just because you've come home. But considering you came to save me, I'll treat you better from now on."
As he spoke, Sawyer noticed the expressions of the people beside Sophia all becoming very complicated.
He didn't understand what that meant.
Sophia laughed coldly, slowly shaking her head, looking at him with a complexity that was hard to read.
"Mr. Brown, you probably don't know yet, but our Miss has already cut ties with the Brown family. Even with the so-called blood relationship, Miss is no longer your sister!"
Sawyer froze on the spot, disbelief flickering in his eyes. His mouth hung open, unable to react for a long time.
These words were like a thunderbolt striking Sawyer's head. After a long silence, he finally found his voice again.
"You... what are you saying? Why don't I understand?"
Was something wrong with his ears?
Sawyer never imagined that in just two months away from home, such a huge thing had happened.
Sophia... how could she have cut ties with the family?
Could it be that she did something to anger Olivia and Hayden?
Sophia chuckled lightly and shifted her position, her expression extremely indifferent, as if she hadn't taken this matter to heart at all.
There wasn't a trace of sadness or grief between her brows.
Sawyer forced himself to sit up from the ground, taking difficult steps toward Sophia.
He had accidentally injured himself in the rain, so he limped as he walked.
His clothes were covered in mud stains. With the continuous rain these past few days, the cave was very damp, and the mud on his clothes hadn't dried at all.
Sawyer, usually stunningly handsome, now had none of his former glory, only endless dishevelment.
He limped to Sophia, and finally, his strength gave out and he fell to the ground, but still stubbornly raised his head. "Sophia, is what he said true? Did you really... cut ties with the Brown family? Why?"
"If you did something wrong, as long as you sincerely apologize, Mom and Dad will definitely forgive you. What... what happened during this time?"
Sawyer's feelings toward Sophia weren't exactly fond, but he didn't dislike her either.
He had only briefly met Sophia once before immediately joining the film crew.
Before entering the mountains, he received a message from Isabella saying Sophia was secretly bullying her.
Isabella was someone he watched grow up, so he never doubted the truth of her words.
Therefore, his impression of Sophia worsened somewhat.
But this didn't mean he could just watch his biological sister be left out in the cold.
Sophia's gaze lingered on his injured leg for a moment, then she looked away indifferently. "There's nothing to be curious about. Actually, you never really looked forward to me coming back, did you?"
Faced with Sophia's question, Sawyer was instantly speechless, not knowing how to respond.
When he learned his biological sister wasn't dead, Sawyer had been happy too.
But after the happiness, he noticed Isabella's dejected expression.
If Sophia came back, what would happen to Isabella? Isabella's position in the family would become increasingly awkward.
So he had indeed hesitated, even felt resistant to bringing Sophia home.
Thinking about this, Sawyer guiltily lowered his lashes. "I'm sorry, Sophia. It's not that I didn't welcome you back. I just didn't know what changes your return would bring to the family."
Sophia chuckled softly without speaking.
Afraid of bringing changes to the family?
More like afraid of bringing changes to Isabella's life, right?
Everyone in the Brown family doted on Isabella.
So they were afraid that after she returned to Brown Villa, she would take away everything that belonged to Isabella.
Even though those things should have belonged to Sophia in the first place.
How ridiculous.
Sophia laughed coldly. While casually opening her backpack, she murmured to Sawyer, "Perhaps there's no family bond between us. But none of that matters anymore. I have my own family now. I came here not for you, not for the Brown family, but for my family."
As she spoke, Sophia's gaze fell on the sleeping Cillian, her clear eyes shining with warmth.
Although Sophia had only met Cillian once, she really liked this Cillian who was willing to share snacks with her.
Noticing Sophia's change in expression, Sawyer followed her gaze to Cillian, frowning in confusion. "Sophia, don't be ridiculous! Cillian is from the White family - way out of our league."
The subordinate closest to Sophia laughed coldly, not hiding the mockery and disgust in his tone. "Sawyer, do all you Brown family people like being two-faced like this? Don't tell me you knew nothing about the Brown family using Miss as a bargaining chip to send to the White family!"
