Chapter 62 Alexander's pov
Chapter 62 Alexander's pov
I sat in the car, watching the video I’d recorded of my Father's brother. I refused to let him get to me, and I didn’t give two fucks what Ethan and his guys did to him. Whatever it was, he had it coming.
After I had watched the video, I put on some music to keep myself occupied while I waited for Ethan. Almost an hour later, I saw him step out of the cabin, looking like a complete sex god—sleeves rolled up, showing off his veiny hands, his hair sleek like he’d just finished styling it.
“I am so fucking lucky to have him,” I muttered to myself.
I knew I wouldn’t be telling him that anytime soon. He got into the car through the driver’s side, and I welcomed him with a warm smile.
“Hey, you.”
“Hey,” he smiled back. “You good?”
“Yeah, I am,” I answered.
He leaned over and placed a gentle kiss on my lips.
“Forward the video to me,” he said. “I’ll send it to my team so they can post it anonymously. We don’t want the police interrupting our vacation.”
“Oh? Are we on vacation now?”
“Of course we are. Once that video airs, I’m sure anyone who wants to harm you will rethink their plans.”
I couldn’t help the laugh that escaped me.
“Aiden is going to crucify me for leaving all the work to him and the secretary.”
I hadn’t done any serious work in a while—all because I’d been focused on staying alive.
“He has Noah. He’ll be fine,” Ethan said.
I took his hand, brought it to my lips, and kissed it softly.
“You’re so lucky to have me,” I whispered.
He didn’t argue. He just replied with a simple smile.
The police found a burned corpse in Joe’s house one week after the video was released. DNA tests confirmed it was him. I didn’t want to know how he got there, but it served him right. They concluded it was the same person who killed Ben Caver.
Three weeks after the video went viral, everything had gone back to normal. And in those three weeks, I’d had the best sex of my life. We’d been together on every surface in the cabin that could hold our weight, until we finally decided to return to the penthouse. I didn’t mind any of it. I’d come so close to death that I’d decided to live my life the way it pleased me—no matter what anyone else thought.
“You don’t want to piss your father off. We’re running late,” Ethan said.
“I’m coming. I’m right behind you,” I replied.
My father had invited us to dinner. I could tell Ethan was a little nervous, though he didn’t let it show.
“You know, I can tell you’re not behind me,” he said.
I rushed out of the bedroom after making sure everything was perfect—hair and outfit on point.
“Let’s go. My father won’t mind us being a little late. Besides, he already thinks we act like horny teenagers,” I said, leaning in to give him a quick peck on the cheek.
Cass was our chauffeur for the night. When we arrived at the restaurant, it was empty—except for my father.
“Hi, Dad.”
“Hi, son,” he replied, his tone edged with sarcasm.
Ethan stretched out his hand to my father, who stared at it for a moment like he might refuse—but then smiled and shook it.
“Mr. Blackwood,” Ethan said.
“Pierce,” my father corrected.
He pulled Ethan in and whispered something to him. Ethan nodded in response.
“Are you two plotting against me or something?” I asked, curious.
Ethan just smiled. “Or something.”
“That’s not fair,” I whined. “I haven’t even officially introduced you to each other as my boyfriend and my father.”
“Well, you just did,” my father muttered.
I was so close to losing my mind.
Our food was served, and about five minutes into dinner, Aiden walked into the restaurant with Noah—both of them dressed up.
What the hell was going on?
Dad had nvited the most important people in my life to dinner. At this rate, he’d be inviting them over for Thanksgiving and Christmas next.
“Oh my gosh,” I teased Aiden. “Are you here uninvited?”
“You know I don’t need an invite to show up in cool places,” he winked.
That bastard. He always knew how to twist words around.
Aiden and Noah exchanged pleasantries with my father before joining us. We talked about everything—work, life, the future—with my father directing most of his questions at Ethan.
Ethan, however, was acting a little off. Suspicious, even.
About an hour later, a waitress approached our table carrying a bouquet of roses. While I was trying to figure out who they were for, I turned around—
And found Ethan on one knee, holding a small box.
“Oh my fucking—oh fuck…”
I was completely speechless.
“Alexander Blackwood,” Ethan began, “will you be my husband and make me the happiest man on earth?”
Holy shit.
Tears gathered in my eyes as my brain struggled to catch up with what was happening.
“Yes, silly,” I finally managed. “Of course I’ll marry you.”
Everyone clapped as Ethan slipped the ring onto my finger. He stood up, pulled me into his arms, and kissed me.
It all clicked in. Aiden and Noah where invited because Ethan planned to propose, which was why he was a bit nervous.
Happy didn’t even begin to cover it. I was overwhelmed—in the best way possible.
My father, Noah, and Aiden congratulated us. My father couldn’t stop smiling. He was clearly happy too.
“Thank you,” I said, smiling through my tears.
Ethan wiped the tears that were now falling on their own.
"Was this why you were whispering with my father earlier?" I asked Ethan.
"Yes."
“I love you,” I said, my voice breaking.
“I love you too, pretty boy.”
We both laughed.
My life was finally falling into place.
The universe must have decided to smile on me.
