Chapter 55 055

Chapter 55 055
Sherry was already drunk at dinner , even before the dishes were fully presented. She said, "Chan, when will your school open?"
  "Next week."
"Ah..." Sherry gave a burp. "I had no idea you were heading to high school already. I vividly recall how short you were when we first met—you weren't even shoulder-length apart. You've grown to the age where you could become a father in the blink of an eye."
For an instant, Channing was unable to locate his tongue. Stella rubbed her scalp. Sherry was far too inebriated. Sometimes, all by herself, she would sing and dance.
Without thinking, Channing questioned, "Are you sure she's OK?"
"At least she should find a way to vent it."
Sherry had never been one to take things too seriously and was always full of optimism. She might go for a drink on the second day if she was feeling down. Stella could tell that this time she was in significant pain when she saw her like this. At last, Sherry fell onto the desk, unconscious, and Stella picked her up before hurrying, "Sherry, let's go home."
Sherry gave her a teary-eyed look. "Hey, look... Right now, I'm homeless. I was cheated on by that scumbag. Stella, I'm homeless right now."
Stella soothed her and gave her a hug. Stella and Channing sent Sherry home when she broke down in tears and went completely dark.
"Are you girls always like this after experiencing the disappointment in love?" Channing questioned as he laid Sherry down on her bed.
Stella replied, "Well, sort of. We must express our feelings."
"Why didn't you shed tears then?"
  Stella was shocked. "What?"
Channing gave her a look. "You shouldn't suppress your feelings in this way all the time. It is detrimental to your child."
   "Chan, I'm fine..."
“You seem to be bothered by something, I can tell. Has Clarence Conrad caused you any problems lately?"
Stella gave a small shake of her head. "What kind of trouble could he make for me?" she inquired, grinning. She was just irritated.
Liam's words replayed themselves in her head. He was right, she had to concede; living as a mistress and getting married in secret was the same thing. It was dark for both of them. A mistress, on the other hand, would get money, but all she had was a bully.
Stella was a little irritated since being pregnant had made her so irritable. "Chan, it's getting late," she remarked. “Would you please head home now? I'll remain here to look after her."
Channing appeared to be trying to say something more, but Sherry jumped off the bed, dashed to the bathroom, and threw up.
With a sigh, he remarked, "All right, I'm heading out now. Give me a call if you need anything.”
Stella spent the entire evening with Sherry. When Liam returned at midnight, Sherry had changed the lock's password, so he was unable to unlock the door. All he could do was tap on the door from outside. Sherry wanted to run out and grab a kitchen knife right away.
Stella made every effort to halt her. Sherry retired for the second half of the night. Stella's reaction to being pregnant came on abruptly. She felt so bad that she puked repeatedly in a row. She was daydreaming while seated on the couch. She eventually thought of the ringleader who had caused her so much suffering. All of a sudden, she started to become brave.
She pulled out Sherry's landline and punched in a number. A few beeps indicated that the call had connected. Stella said, "Mr. Conrad, are you still awake?" right away. She heard the man's deep, rough voice on the phone. "Ehn?"
"Let me tell you a joke. There once was a toothpick that was out on the street. He strolled endlessly. He then noticed a hedgehog. He."
The man interjected in a raspy voice , "Stella, Can't you fall asleep?"
"Mr. Conrad, thank you very much. You've shown the real nature of this scoundrel. After becoming wasted, my friend spent the entire night throwing up. I must tend to her needs."
  Clarence felt constricted.
Stella heard him ask in a flat tone just as she assumed he was going to hang up, "Aren't you going to continue with your joke?"
Stella was interrupted and lost track of what she had been telling him. She inquired, "Mr. Conrad, would you like to share any joke with me?"
   "I don't have any."
"A bedtime story?" She desired for the miserable man to soothe his restless infant inside her womb.
He responded once more. "I don't have any."
Stella could tell by the sound of his voice that he had nearly grown up. That signified she had succeeded in her objectives. She gave a yawn. "Ignore it. I'm tired. Until next time, Mr. Conrad. “
Without waiting for Clarence to answer, she abruptly hung up the phone after completing her statement. Stella purposely set the phone aside rather than putting it back in order to prevent the miserable man from calling her back to exact retribution. After that, she curled up on the couch and drifted off to sleep.
When Stella woke up the next day, Sherry was still
asleep. After preparing the hangover soup, Stella placed it in the vacuum cup. After making breakfast, she sent Sherry a message and headed to work at SG Jewelry Magazine. Shortly after Stella requested a leave of absence for Sherry, she overheard her coworkers talking about the arrival of Mr. Conrad from Conrad Group.
Stella pondered whether the miserable man had grown more prickly. She had just woken him up at midnight by calling him. How could he come over to accuse her so early in the morning, leaving all his business behind?
The assistant to Stanford approached her just as she was ready to slip away. “I apologize, Miss Sharon. You are to report to the meeting room, per Mr. Leif."
Stella squeezed her temples, knowing that her stubbornness would cost her dearly.
  …….
  Within the conference space
There was Clarence seated in the chair. He had a detached, composed expression on his face. Stanford, who was seated next to him, thought he was currently in a difficult situation. If he was unaware of Stella's relationship with Mr. Conrad, that would be OK, but Stanford was aware of it. The couple was clearly fighting, and Mr. Conrad took it outside of the bounds of business.
But Stella was not going to make any concessions. They were still engaged in combat now. Stanford suspected that this conference room would eventually turn into a smoke-filled battleground.
Before long, someone knocked on the meeting room door. With deliberate disregard for the other man in the room, Stella pushed open the door. “I apologize, Mr. Leif. Did you wish to meet with me?”
With a cough, Stanford said, "Sharon, this is Mr. Conrad from Conrad Group."
Stella turned to face the man. "Good morning, Mr. Conrad."
Clarence glanced at her, but said nothing. Stella was aware that the miserable man was acting.
"Here's the truth, Sharon: Conrad Group had given SG a quota to support prior to that show. Mr. Conrad arrived here in relation to this."
Stella spoke after a short while, "Mr. Conrad, I appreciate your generosity. I didn't think my performance in the show was all that great. Kindly provide this chance to a different applicant who is more qualified and has greater promise."
"You know you are incapable," declared Clarence sternly. “Why do you not wish to improve your skills?"
Stella couldn't say anything. She didn't want to imply that she was utterly useless.
"Apart from Winnie Truman, no one else in that show is eligible to receive this quota based on their performance, including you," Clarence continued. “I didn't want to select someone who was merely marginally superior than others. However, I haven't fulfilled my pledge. Recognize?"
