Chapter 41 041
Chapter 41 041
Clarence, with his long legs, immediately departed after he had finished speaking. It took Phoebe a considerable amount of time to regain consciousness when she was shocked. Was he trying to make her sound like Annie?
Phoebe's face was pale as she bit her lower lip hard. He hesitated to wed Stella three years ago. What separated Annie, who used intermarriage to persuade Horace to marry her, from Stella, who brought their child to get Clarence to marry her? What made him think she was like them?
….
Stella had at last located a decent one-bedroom apartment, but the owner had informed her that she would have to wait until tomorrow to sign the lease, forcing her to spend an additional night in the hotel. However, she needed to return to Sherry's place to retrieve her things, so she simply packed her bags at the same time.
Reluctantly, Sherry pulled her luggage and said, "Stella, why don't you remain here longer? Anyhow, there's an additional room. Liam is fine with you remaining here after I told him."
"What are you thinking?" Stella asked with a smile. “I don't want to be the middle man in your loving relationship, you two."
"But you are alone, and even pregnant now..."
"Never fear. Chan is still with me. Everything will work out.”
"Then, I will send you to the hotel," Sherry moaned, realizing that she had made up her decision. “You are unable to carry all of your bags by yourself.
"Okay," Stella nodded. "It's so comfortable here, I'll just stay here with you for one night," Sherry remarked, clinging to the blanket as she rolled around on the large bed when they arrived at the hotel.
Stella, who was collecting her belongings, said, "If you want to stay here overnight, I guess Liam will come to pick you up very soon."
Sherry blushed slightly and smiled at her comments, "This time, after returning from overseas, he changed completely. Like the sticky candy, he was clinging."
"You two haven't seen each other for almost a year. You all should go and register for marriage after his coming back this time, right?" Stella inquired, momentarily taken aback.
"I'm already looking at the wedding dresses and wedding venues today," Sherry said with a bashful nod. “All I'm waiting on is for him to ask me to marry him." Sherry abruptly realized that she appeared to have stated something incorrectly after she had done speaking.
Stella and the wretch man just registered as married when they were married. He did not plan a ceremony on her behalf. He didn't even give her a wedding band. Nevertheless, Stella remained silent.
She was merely grinning, "By the time you get married, I will help you to design all the jewellery."
“ Stella, you are my baby-“ said Sherry as she leaped on her and gave her a hug. “I adore you a lot."
"All right, all right. Return as soon as possible; if not, Liam will be concerned if he returns home and cannot locate you."
"After that, you look after yourself. When you go to bed at night, don't forget to lock the door."
"I am aware. Go home securely."
After leaving the hotel and getting into the car, Liam texted Sherry, saying, "Baby, I am sorry." I had to head back late to join you because I have a business dinner tonight. Get into bed early.”
"Okay, don't drink too much."
Liam had recently returned from a foreign trip. Sherry didn't give it much thought because he had to learn how to work hard at the company and interact with his coworkers. She threw her phone down and got in her car. She knew that he couldn't control how much wine he needed to drink during the dinner, despite her requests that he refrain from overindulging. If she didn't go back and make hangover soup for him, she could have stayed at Stella's house instead.
Stella went to the drugstore to get folic acid after Sherry departed. She also made a snack purchase at the grocery store. She saw someone selling snacks beside the street and stopped to buy some on her way back to the hotel. She noticed a black Rolls Royce parked at the hotel's entryway as she made her way back there. It's the automobile of that miserable man.
Stella's sweat hairs rose up from her rage. What brought him here? Was he going to beg her to give his money back? She promised to repay him in installments, didn't she?
With a fierce demeanor, she lunged towards the rear of the automobile, gave it a hard kick, and sprinted into the hotel. Clarence was stunned as he extended his hand to unlock his automobile door.
With great haste, Stella returned to her room and gently secured the door. She waited five minutes before removing the snacks to make sure Clarence didn't follow her.
She didn't realize it, though, since as soon as the doorbell rang, a woman's voice stated, "Ms. Radomil, a man said he found your things so I came to confirm with you."
She could see a hotel employee standing at the entrance through the peephole on her door. She hesitated a while before opening the door.
The staff rang the doorbell again, "Ms. Radomil, are you there?"
fearing that something had happened to her since they were not getting a response from her. Breathing out, Stella pulled open the door and said, "I'm here."
She needed to open the door, she realized. She had to confront Clarence regardless of whether or not he was genuinely expecting her to return his money.
Taking out a tiny bag, the staff said, "Ms. Radomil, see if this is yours?"
Stella unzipped the bag and removed a bottle. 'Folic Acid' was the label on the bottle. She was taken aback. After a long silence, she finally said, "It's mine."
It appeared that she had made a mistake in assuming that Clarence was there to demand payment; rather, he had brought the object specifically to make her feel uncomfortable.
"Didn't you say it was antacid last night?" A man's calm, unwavering voice approached from the side. She turned her head rigidly and saw Clarence leaning against the wall next to her. His silent gaze met hers with deep, steely eyes. Her laughter lacked humor.
Looking around, the staff said, "Ms. Radomil..."
"We are acquainted. I'm grateful.”
"All right, I'll head out first. If you need anything, Miss Radomil can give the front desk a call."
Stella gave a melancholic nod, as though her heart had reached the bottom of the valley. She didn't know whether to tell him the truth since she felt helpless and desperate. However, she was aware of his reaction even before she told him. She genuinely didn't want to give birth to the child, even though Clarence was the biological father and had the legal authority to determine the child's course of existence.
As she was getting quite confused, a frowning Clarence strolled by her and said, "Pour me a glass of water."
Stella closed her eyes, inhaled deeply. Clarence was already sprawled out on the couch, appearing a little lethargic, when she finished filling the water pitcher and left.
"Does Mr. Conrad have anything to say?" Stella said, placing the glass of water on the coffee table in front of him with a worried expression.
Grasping the glass of water, Clarence tipped his head to sip it. "Isn't Horace staying with you tonight?" he said icily, fumbling with the cup's lip long enough for Stella to misinterpret his tone.
Stella asked with confusion , "Why will he be staying with me?"
With a chilly pout, Clarence said, "I see. He doesn't have time to worry about you because he is too busy hanging out with another woman."
"What exactly does Mr. Conrad want to say?"
"Stella, the Jason family has visited the Conrad family today," said Clarence, lifting his gaze. “Are you aware of the reason?”
"I don't know."
"Then I'll tell you."
"Annie is the one Horace is going to marry," declared Clarence as he stood up and walked toward her. “The child you bear for him will remain illegitimate even if you manage to conceive him. Are you aware that pulling the same ruse twice would simply arouse contempt in others?
