Chapter 109

Chapter 109

Oliver pov

“She has a point.” I chipped in and they all turned to me.“Oliver, shut up you don’t have a say in this.” Issa attacked, holding on to her chin.“Okay… whatever.” I muttered.

“No… no Issa, Oliver is right.” Kade mumbled. “If I don’t attend this party, then … then he’ll know how bad this hurt me, and I don’t want him or anyone else to know my weak spot.”

“See?”

“That’s exactly what my point is. Sir, you know the list of invitees will be posted, so you have to be there. Plus when you celebrated your win, he was in attendance even though we all know he wanted that spot.” She reduced her tone.

“Daddy, I can’t believe you're actually considering this.” Isadora muttered with her arms folded at her chest.

“We know the only reason you don’t want him to attend the party is simply because you have a past with him.” I blurted, then she shot daggers at me and rolled her eyes at me.

Kade got up, “Well, this is something we can settle at the office.” He stole a glance at his wristwatch, “We have to leave now , alright.”

“I’ll see you when you return okay?” I slowly approached Isadora and held her by her arms, causing her to release those folded arms then I kissed her cheeks. I watched them all walk away.

As soon as they disappeared out the door and I heard them wheel out of the house, everywhere grew as silent as a graveyard. This was exactly what I wanted, I needed this space and now that every one was out, it was perfect timing.

I made a quick stop at the kitchen to make sure neither of the maids were there. Not just the kitchen but every other part of the house like the laundry room and the bedroom.

Once I made sure nobody was home, I bounced towards Kade’s office. The last time I attempted this, not only was I unable to gather enough information but one of the maids walked in on me and she looked confused.

Luckily for me, she didn’t go ahead to tell Kade that she saw me in his office probably because she assumed It was okay for me to be there. This time around, I didn’t have to worry about her walking in on me because I was the only one home.

I twisted the door knob but the room was locked this time, “Fuck!” I muttered under my breath.I darted my eyes around the walls and the floors, hoping there was a mat he hid the key under or just maybe a vase or something but there was nothing, “How could he possibly take the key out too.” I brushed my hand through my face and exhaled in frustration.

Then immediately I noticed the lamp on the cupboard, then I began ransacking the drawers but the key wasn’t there. I raised the lamp and there it was, a smirk appeared on my face, “How predictable can you be Kade?” I said to myself and immediately unlocked the door and pushed it open, revealing his cold office room.

It smelled really good here. I first sat on his comfy leather chair and did a little twirl and took a deep inhale, preparing my mind for whatever I was going to find in this room.

I bent over and pulled open the drawers, and saw a bunch of folders, matter of fact the place was filled with so many files and folders. The ones on the shelves contained information about the company from years and months prior.

I needed to find information on the last month. I schemed through the arrangements, luckily for me it was arranged in a specific order the date month year method so that made the job easy, “Perfect…” I whispered to myself as I pulled it off the shelf and started going through it.

Just by looking through the pages, I noticed how many brands pulled out of working with him while some major companies didn’t even accept his contract offers.

This whole thing looked like a mess especially considering how much of a reputable company the Langford group was, these people didn’t even think twice before taking away all their deals and ignoring meetings.

From the looks of things, he even had mails and contract forms sent out to the last upcoming companies but they all ignored his offers. I scoffed at the fact that even the upcoming looser companies didn’t want to work with him.

Earlier on during the little argument between Isadora and his assistant he mentioned something about not wanting anyone to see his weak side I think I completely understood what he meant by that because asides just a few companies who didn’t stop working with him, he didn’t have any other source of income from the company he worked his whole life for just to build and if he didn’t find anything else to augment it then it was only a matter of time till he loses everything thing.

“oh wow.” I scoffed. gently, I placed everything back where it should be and then wrapped my hand around the back of my head after letting out a deep exhale. I wasn’t going to just sit and watch him lose everything, while I earn nothing, I mean I wasn’t sticking to Isadora like a shell on a tortoise because I loved her so much, I mean I do love her I just wasn’t doing it for free especially considering how rich these people were, not just Langford, Isadora was a billionaire too and she didn’t act like it, it irritated me.

If only they knew my parent’s financial status had gone down drastically, I mean if they knew about that, Kade wouldn’t even consider me husband material for his daughter and just for that, I always thought Kade deserved what got to him, after all he’s not that much of a great guy but that wasn’t a conversation either of us were ready to have.

I needed to figure out a way to get myself into Kade’s will. Not just his will but I needed a share of what he had left before everything else would vanish. At least I had gotten all the information I needed so now I knew what to do next.

The next thing was to somehow convince him into giving me a greater share or at least a good amount of whatever’s in his name.I exited the room after arranging things and leaving them the exact same way I saw them including the key under the lamp too.

I just needed to wait a little while longer before finally transferring a few things into my name.
