Chapter 106

Charles pov

It was a typical Monday morning in the city of New York and just like every other day, the streets were busy and bustling, people were hurrying to their different places of work, drivers honking in the traffic and at pedestrians running across the streets.

The only difference between today and other days was that I was ranking first in all the lists and charts as the first and best ceo and manager in the the state.I arrived at the office and when I got out of the car, I stood tall, holding my hands akimbo and admiring my success standing right in front of me.

At the same time I had almost completely forgotten about the grand opening of my company’s new branch.

“A very good morning to you sir.” Sloane hurled towards me struggling to arrange a bunch of files and folders in her hands.

“How early am I?” I smirked at her.

“Sir… well, you’re early but not early enough, there’s a whole lot you have to catch up with but in a very short period of time. I think you should get to the office so we can review your itinerary for the day.”

“Alright ma'am." I teased and made my way to my office. By the time I got there, I placed my bag on the desk and took my coat off. I was about to take a seat when Sloane said, “I’ve booked the boardroom for the nine a.m meeting.”

“Good job. But then, I’ve been meaning to ask you about the party that was supposed to be planned for the launch of the company’s new branch.”

“Oh, that is on hold… for now, not until we’re done clearing up all the drama and shenanigans going on so until then, we’re not planning any parties, sir.”

“Mmm, that’s very important though, make sure you have it on your reminder board or something.”

“Yes sir but the dynamic foundation board members will be here any minute now and we have to be at the board room waiting for them.”

“What exactly do they want?” With an apple pen, she scrolled through her tab and read out, “Err they … they want to strike a business deal with us, sir.”

“how do you not know what they want? Why don’t have to read it off your tab?” I asked as I turned on my computer and adjusted the monitor.

“ I’m sorry sir, there are just so many companies and about five meetings planned for today and they all have different prospects, I don’t wanna mix anything up so I’m trying to be really careful.”

“yeah okay whatever.” I mumbled and grabbed my laptop before storming out of the office, “Let’s go.” We made it through the halls of the company while Sloane seemed to be struggling with everything going on, the folders, her iPad and her constantly ringing phone.

When we got into the elevator, I pressed the button and we both watched the door close shut. While waiting to get to our floor, her phone kept binging and binging, it was starting to get really annoying, “Can you please turn that thing off?!”

“ I'm so sorry, sir. There are a lot of messages coming in and I’m just trying to keep up while giving responses.”

“Yeah, well, I’ll really need to concentrate.” She scurried through everything in her grip and found her phone and finally put it off, “Sorry about that sir.” She whispered.

The elevator doors flew open and next thing we were staring at the board room door, “Let’s go make some business deals.” I muttered to myself and we both stepped out of the elevator and into the meeting room where we meant just some of the members of the board who were already seated.

“Good morning sir.” They all chorused.

“Morning, everyone, it’s truly a good morning.” I smiled at them all and took a seat and pulled out my laptop, "What time do they arrive?” I took a glance at my wristwatch.

“They’ll be here any minute now sir—“ before she could complete they statement, the people who I assumed were the ones we were waiting for, just walked into the room and took their seats after offering greetings.About an hour later, we had gone through the objectives of their business deal, and seen how it would benefit our company and theirs too and with my judgement, the deal was a good one.

Sloane did a really good job with her research, this company was a small one but very reputable. They passed to me the contract of agreement there and then and after going through it, I didn’t hesitate to put my signature and immediately the boardroom was filled with applause and everyone had a smiling face.

“Thank you all.” I got up and so did everyone else. We gave each other a handshake, “We’re really looking forward to working with you sir.” And just like that meeting had come to an end whilst everyone else found their way out of the boardroom except Sloane who waited behind me.

“You’re doing a really good job, Sloane.”

“Thank You sir, that is my specialty. Right now, one business deal has been made, a few more others to go.” She reminded me.

"If there’s a possibility that you could make those others send in their contract via email and we just give them a signature that would be preferable, we can’t have all of them keep coming in one by one, that would be very hectic for us and we don’t really have that much time.”

“Yes sir, I’ll do just that.” We were about stepping out of the office and then I stopped, “Hold on, err, I really want you start making preparations for the launching ceremony whether we have so many business deals coming in or not.”

“Alright sir, I’ll make adjustments.”

“At least let’s make it known to the public that we’re opening another branch I believe that would attract some more business companies to us.”

She scribbled something down on her iPad while nodding, “yes sir.”

“You’ll handle the invitations but then, there’s one person I really want to be invited,” I narrowed my eyes.

“Who’s that sir let me take his name down.”

“It’s Kade Langford,” she was writing down and then paused to look at me, “The Kade Langford?”

“Yes, him.” I responded to the look on her face, “I want him at that ceremony. There’s no way he’s going to reject the offer anyways.”

“Whatever you say sir, you’re the boss.”

“Very well then.”
