Chapter 10

Chapter 10
Elizabeth's POV

The intense stare was so strong that I suddenly snapped back to reality.

Sure enough, when I turned around, I met Alex's eyes as he stood in the doorway. I instantly became alert.

"Is there something else you need?"

Alex didn't come in, but his tone was terrifyingly cold, "You'd better not try anything funny, or don't blame me for not being nice to you."

With that, the door slammed shut heavily.

My expression froze, and I used my eyes to signal the maid beside me, "Is there something wrong with Mr. Windsor's head?"

I pointed at my own head, and the two of them immediately looked shocked. Lisa quickly ran over and grabbed my hand.

"Ms. Spencer! You absolutely cannot say that about Mr. Windsor, or you won't even know how you died!"

Of course, I knew that anyone who could live in a place like this and employ so many servants, even if not a core family member, definitely had serious power.

I deliberately said this in front of them to observe their reactions.

Fortunately, they seemed genuinely worried about me and knew to warn me.

"Don't worry, I'm not stupid enough to badmouth him to his face."

"You can't do it in private either, Ms. Spencer!" Anna's tone became urgent, and I quickly nodded, "I got it, I won't do it again."

After eating my fill, I lay bored on the sofa, thinking about my next plan.

Right now I couldn't even leave this room, so there was very little I could do.

So my first goal was, 'At least be able to move freely around this villa, get out of this room first.'

"By the way, do you know what Mr. Windsor likes to eat? I'm pretty good at cooking, maybe I could cook for him myself."

Saying this, I couldn't help but lower my eyes, a trace of sadness passing through them.

Once upon a time, I was also a pampered young lady who never had to lift a finger, cooking was never my job.

Later, after joining the Smith Family, to please Aiden's mother and to let Aiden eat food I made with my own hands, I worked hard to learn cooking.

Now I could cook well, but the people who made me learn to cook were all gone.

Lisa and Anna exchanged glances and said in unison, "Ms. Spencer, please don't trouble yourself. There are many chefs in the house, you don't need to cook for yourself."

"Then can you give me back my phone? I'm bored to death staying here."

When I woke up, I noticed my phone wasn't with me - they must have taken it.

They didn't immediately refuse this request, so I felt there was hope.

I continued, "I'm already staying here obediently, there's no way I can run away now. Just give me my phone."

Lisa looked at my pitiful appearance and hesitated before saying, "I still have to ask Mr. Windsor first. If he agrees, I'll bring it to you."

"Okay, go quickly."

I urged her out the door. Watching Lisa's retreating figure, I lowered my eyes to hide the churning emotions inside.

Staying here, though I didn't feel danger, I was very anxious.

Being trapped here short-term was fine as a rest, but if Alex planned to keep me locked up forever, I wouldn't be able to do anything I wanted to do.

After all, I needed to protect the child in my belly and use this child to get revenge on Aiden.

That scumbag still wanted to plot against my life, I would never let him off easily!

Before long, Lisa came back. I didn't see my phone, but I did see a bowl of dark medicine on the tray she was carrying.

"Ms. Spencer, Mr. Windsor said you must drink the medicine obediently before he'll give you your phone."

Lisa placed the medicine bowl in front of me. "This is for regulating your body, you must drink it."

Then she took out my phone and waved it in front of me.

I instinctively reached to grab it, but she easily dodged.

Lisa looked relieved and gripped the phone tighter, "Mr. Windsor was right, he said you'd definitely try to grab the phone first. Good thing I held it tight."

I'd only met Alex a few times total, how could he understand me so well?

I stared at the medicine that looked bitter just from its color, then looked at the phone right in front of me.

This medicine was ultimately for my own good, drinking it probably wouldn't kill me.

"Ms. Spencer, Mr. Windsor also had this prepared."

Lisa pulled out a few candies from her pocket, with an indescribable smile on her face, "I didn't expect Mr. Windsor to be so thoughtful, even preparing candy for you."

I was a bit surprised.

Indeed, very thoughtful, so thoughtful that my impression of Alex instantly improved quite a bit.

Could this dangerous man, who dragged me into a desperate situation the moment we met, actually be a good person?

But this medicine really looked too bitter, and I hated bitter things the most.

I picked up the bowl several times and put it down again. Lisa was getting anxious beside me.

"Ms. Spencer, Mr. Windsor also said that if you won't drink it yourself, he doesn't mind coming to feed it to you personally."

I froze. Just imagining that scene made my scalp tingle.

Having a handsome guy feed you medicine sounded nice, but if it was Alex, he would definitely pry open my mouth with a cold face and roughly pour the medicine in.

Thinking of that terrible scene, I shuddered all over.

I grabbed the medicine bowl and gulped down the entire bowl in one go. Lisa finally handed me the phone.

"Bitter, so bitter, quick, give me a candy." I couldn't be bothered with the phone and reached out to Anna for candy.

A cold laugh came from the doorway. Only then did I notice Alex standing there - I didn't know when he'd arrived.

"When did you get there?" I momentarily forgot about the bitter taste in my mouth and snatched the phone from Lisa's hand, protecting it behind me, "You're not going back on your word, are you? You said you'd give me the phone."

Was he afraid I'd immediately call the police?

I couldn't read the look Alex gave me. I just watched him walk toward me step by step.

"If I said I'd give it to you, I'll give it to you. I'm not afraid of you calling for help."

"I'm giving you a chance to call the police, do you dare?"

Alex's expression turned cold, making me swallow hard.

The answer immediately became clear in my mind, of course, I didn't dare.

Being trapped here, there were too many things he could use to threaten me, the most important being the child in my belly.

Though this child wasn't born yet, and regardless of who his father was, while he was in my belly, he was my child, and I couldn't bear for him to be harmed in any way.

Besides, the Spencer family had already gone bankrupt, and I had no one left to rely on.

This child, as Alexander's bloodline, was my only bargaining chip.

Without this child, once I left here, I would immediately be caught and made to give my life for Bianca.

Of course, I wouldn't agree to that.

"I won't call the police." I lowered my face, my tone no longer so sharp.

Alex narrowed his eyes, as if he'd already seen through everything about me, "Behave yourself. No one here will hurt you."

I looked up sharply, a trace of surprise flashing through my heart.

Though I was imprisoned here, his words somehow gave me a slight sense of security.

Much more security than I felt staying by Aiden's side, even giving me the illusion that I could easily escape at any time.
