Chapter 191

Chapter 191

Layla was about to refuse when she heard him say, "It's a relaxing and comfortable place. What do you think?"

After playing all day, Elijah was both excited and tired.

Elijah fell asleep in Marianne's arms almost as soon as he got in the car.

But Marianne still couldn't help asking, "Layla, aren't you coming back with us?"

Layla felt a bit awkward, but before she could find a suitable excuse, Seth found one for her. "She needs to go to the Wright Group. I'll drop her off there, so I won't be picking up Elijah tonight."

Marianne was naturally happy about this, but she still gave Layla and Seth an extra look.

Layla and Seth weren't close at all. In fact, there was a deliberate distance between them.

"Alright, we'll head off then."

Layla nodded slightly and glanced at Elijah, who was sleeping soundly. "Drive carefully."

Marianne nodded. "Don't worry. We're off."

Layla watched the car drive away before turning to look at Seth.

Seth was also looking at her. "Shall we go?"

Layla didn't say anything but walked toward his car.

Seth raised his eyebrows. After getting in the car, seeing her turn to look out the window without speaking, he took the initiative to start a conversation. "About last night's topic..."

Layla immediately turned to look at him, her eyes showing a warning and a clear "shut up" message.

Seth casually tapped the steering wheel a few times, raising his eyebrows slightly. "I was going to ask if you've consulted a doctor?"

Layla turned her head back to look out the window. She had actually called that doctor this morning.

The doctor's message was very clear; the medicine could be taken daily without harming the body.

But they definitely couldn't have sex every day.

Excessive indulgence would only harm the body, and sperm quality would greatly decrease.

Layla had been speechless at the time.

Sperm was about quality, not quantity.

With good sperm quality, she could get pregnant from having sex once. With poor sperm quality, having sex many times wouldn't help.

Layla certainly couldn't answer his question directly, so she asked back instead. "Then why did you invite me to the hot spring resort?"

Seth raised his eyebrows again, looking at her with an ambiguous expression.

Layla felt uncomfortable under his gaze and frowned slightly. "Just say what you want to say."

"Are you sure you won't get angry if I do?" Seth asked back.

"Just say it." Though she knew he probably wouldn't say anything nice.

"Just taking you to relax." After saying this, Seth glanced at her sideways, his lips curving up in a faint smile. "No other intentions."

Layla's brow furrowed deeply. So she had misunderstood him?

She held back and finally said coldly, "Stop the car. I want to get out!"

Seth certainly wouldn't obediently stop the car. "Are you angry?"

Layla didn't speak but kept a cold expression.

"Beckett called me yesterday and told me about some really good hot springs. I just wanted to take you to relax. Haven't you been tired lately?" Seth added.

Of course, she was tired, very tired. Sometimes when Layla had sex with him, she had no strength at all.

But for Elijah's sake, she could grit her teeth and push through.

"I remember you used to be very..."

Layla seemed to guess what he wanted to say. She turned to glare at him. "Either shut your mouth and drive properly, or pull over and let me out."

Seeing her annoyed, Seth just curved his lips and stopped talking.

After driving for about an hour, the resort was quite secluded, so the sky gradually darkened.

However, the mountain scenery was beautiful. As soon as Layla opened the car door and got out, she could see the afterglow of the setting sun.

It was especially beautiful; the afterglow painted half the sky red.

She watched for a while before hearing someone speak.

"You're here?"

Only then did Layla turn around to look. Beatrice was holding Beckett's arm, standing at the resort's main entrance. When she saw her, she waved.

Layla also nodded at her in acknowledgment.

"Layla's here! Where's Elijah? Why didn't you bring him?"

"Elijah played all day and got tired, so he went back to rest. We'll bring him out another day for you to meet."

Beckett stared at Seth's expression for a while before saying, "You really are different now that you're a dad."

Beatrice also looked Seth up and down. She had once had feelings for him, but looking at him now, she didn't have any other thoughts.

"How is he different?" Beatrice asked.

Beckett lifted his chin. "Can't you see he has the look of a loving father now?"

Beatrice was still confused. "I can't see it."

Beckett rolled his eyes. "That's because you're blind!"

Beatrice immediately glared at him. "Are you looking to die?"

Beckett took a light breath. "Can you give me some face in public?"

"Do you deserve it?"

"I..."

Seth glanced at Beatrice and Beckett indifferently. "If you want to fight, do it at home."

Only then did Beckett shut his mouth and look at Layla with an awkward smile. "Layla, I have some natural hot spring pools here. You must try them later."

Layla nodded. "Thank you."

"Well, let's not stand at the entrance chatting. Let's go in." Just as Beckett finished speaking, the roar of an engine sounded behind them.

They turned to see Adrian arriving in a sports car, and a young, pretty woman got out of the passenger seat at the same time.

"Hello everyone, I'm Coralie."

Layla glanced at Adrian and nodded at him.

Adrian also curved his lips at her, then walked toward them with his arm around Coralie.

He looked at everyone and raised his eyebrows. "Did you all wait here especially for me?"

Beatrice shrugged, but Beckett didn't give him any face. "Who do you think you are? We had to wait for you?"

Adrian curved his lips and said to Coralie in his arms, "Shall we go?"

Coralie shyly hit his shoulder. "Why didn't you introduce me?"

Adrian kissed her cheek as a way to comfort her.

Coralie immediately beamed with joy again.

For people like them, the love they pursued wasn't forever after, but having had it once.

Adrian looked at Seth, then at Layla. "What's going on with you two?"

Layla didn't speak, but she knew what he wanted to ask. She remembered Seth's sudden outburst before and glanced at him without taking a stance.

Beatrice also looked at Seth and Layla curiously. "Are you two planning to make up or get back together?"

Only then did Layla shake her head gently, but still said nothing.

Adrian, however, said leisurely, "Can a broken mirror be whole again? Wouldn't it be full of cracks? Better to get a new one."

Beckett immediately glared at him in warning. "You think everyone's like you, always chasing something new? Seth and I value the old."

Seth glanced at Layla. She noticed his gaze and looked back at him.

But Layla just glanced at Seth and then looked away.

"Come on, let's go in and chat. It's cool in the mountains at night; soaking in a hot spring will feel great."
