Chapter 188
Chapter 188
Betty actually dared to threaten him with a recording. Were all his mercy and soft-heartedness just a joke?
He gave her time so she could use it to piss him off and threaten him?
Betty saw him just staring at her without speaking, but his eyes grew deeper and more unfathomable.
She frowned slightly, worried he was plotting something again. "What exactly do you want?"
"Let's try a different approach."
Betty didn't call Layla back until the next morning.
Layla just asked if she was okay last night.
Betty told her not to worry; she was fine.
Layla seemed a bit concerned, so Betty switched to a video call.
Only after seeing that Betty in the video really didn't look uncomfortable did Layla feel relieved, and they hung up.
It wasn't that Betty had no marks on her body; it was just that those marks were all in places others couldn't see.
"Elijah, we should have breakfast now, come here!"
Every day, as soon as she called for Elijah, he would run over to eat.
But today, even after Layla called twice, Elijah ignored her.
She had to walk over carrying the children's plate.
Only then did she see Elijah staring intently at the image on the projector.
Layla followed Elijah's gaze and found he was watching an amusement park-themed cartoon.
All kinds of toys in the cartoon completely captivated him.
After watching for a few seconds, Layla patted Elijah's shoulder and said gently, "Do you want to go play with those too?"
Hearing this, Elijah turned to look at her, his eyes bright as he nodded. "Mommy, I want to!"
Layla curved her lips and touched his head, realizing she really hadn't taken him out to play even once.
She wanted to protect Elijah from getting hurt.
But Elijah was a boy after all; she couldn't protect him the way she would protect a girl.
"Then let's eat first, and I will take you tomorrow, okay?"
Although Elijah didn't say many words, he could understand what adults said.
Elijah obediently nodded hard, "Okay!"
So when Seth came that evening, Elijah threw down the toy in his hand and ran over excitedly. "Daddy!"
Seth raised his eyebrows. Although he got a hug from Elijah every day, he also noticed Elijah was especially excited tonight, so he picked up Elijah, touched his head, and looked at Layla.
Seeing his questioning look, Layla said, "I promised Elijah I'd take him to the amusement park tomorrow."
"Tomorrow?"
Layla nodded, "Yes."
Seth also nodded, "I'll go with you guys."
Layla glanced at him, "Do you have time?"
She didn't think he had time, and going out to play was arranged last minute too.
Seth sat down holding Elijah, picked up a toy to play with him, and the words came out naturally. "I have to make time to be with my wife and child even if I don't have time."
But Layla looked at him coolly.
Meeting her gaze, Seth realized what he had just said.
Layla looked away and said, "Should we tell your mom? Tomorrow is Elijah's first time going to an amusement park."
Seth raised his eyebrows, "Okay."
"Then you call and tell her ."
Layla just felt that having everyone there would make Elijah happier.
More people would be livelier, and Elijah's happiness would be at its highest.
"You call, I'll play with Elijah for a bit."
Layla glanced at him and saw he had already taken off his suit jacket, rolled up his sleeves, and was assembling a gun with Elijah.
She had no choice but to get up, walk to the sofa, pick up her phone, and make the call.
"Marianne, it's me. Tomorrow we're planning to take Elijah to the amusement park. If you have time, would you like to come with us?"
"Okay then, see you tomorrow."
After hanging up, Layla was about to get up and go to the kitchen when Seth caught sight of her leaving and couldn't help asking. "Where are you going?"
"To take the medicine."
Hearing this, Seth felt his temples throbbing. "Wait..."
Layla turned to look at him, "What's wrong?"
Seth stared at her for a few seconds before asking, "Do you have to take this medicine every day?"
"Of course, it's prescribed for a month's dosage. Don't you want to take it anymore?"
"No."
Layla frowned at him, waiting for what he'd say next.
Seth pressed his thin lips together, then suddenly cleared his throat. "Did the doctor who prescribed the medicine say you also have to have sex every day?"
Layla was stunned, because she realized she really hadn't asked this question.
"Isn't that the case?"
Taking the medicine every day, of course, they should do it every day too, otherwise what was the point of taking the medicine?
Seth's temples throbbed even harder. "Why don't you ask more carefully?"
But Layla became suspicious of his attitude, "Seth, what do you mean?"
Why did she feel like he didn't want to do it anymore?
Seth did want to do it, it was just that the medicine had side effects.
He said with a straight face, "I think our approach is wrong."
"What's wrong with it?" After asking, Layla seemed to think of something. She frowned, and her gaze fell on a certain part of him.
Noticing her gaze, Seth's expression immediately changed, his face looking somewhat unpleasant. "You..."
"Are you tired or having trouble getting it up?" Layla's words came out faster than his.
But as soon as she finished speaking, Seth, whose face was already somewhat dark, looked even darker.
Seth stared at her fixedly, so angry at her shocked and questioning expression that he actually laughed. "I'm having trouble getting it up?"
Layla also realized what she had just said, especially seeing his extremely unpleasant expression; her eyes started to wander.
She had just said it completely unconsciously. "I was..."
Seth laughed coldly, got up from the carpet, reached up to pull off his tie, and threw it on the ground, his eyes suppressing anger as he stared at her.
Layla felt her scalp tingle under his gaze and involuntarily took a step back. "What are you doing?"
"Didn't you suspect I'm having trouble getting it up?"
Layla frowned, "I was just..."
"You really dare to say that."
She watched him unbuttoning his shirt while walking toward her. Layla frowned, and just as she was about to turn around, he grabbed her wrist. The next second, she was hoisted onto his shoulder.
"Seth, what are you doing? Put me down!"
Orla, hearing the noise from the kitchen, quickly poked her head out to look, and was stunned when she saw Seth and Layla.
"What are you two..."
Seth, carrying Layla upstairs, didn't forget to give instructions. "Watch Elijah."
Elijah still didn't know what was happening, looking happily at Seth carrying Layla away, and even excitedly clapped his hands.
Orla watched Seth and Layla leave, then turned to look at Elijah with a slight smile. "Elijah, it's okay, your daddy and mommy are going to make you a little brother or sister."
Mira, hearing the noise, came out and quickly turned around when she saw Seth and Layla.
Seth simply said, "Go next door and watch the child."
Hearing this, Mira nodded repeatedly and hurried to take off her apron. "I'll go right now, right now!"
