Chapter 21

Sofia's POV

I hated this world!

I hated being me!

I hated this marriage and how my life had turned out to be. Everything was getting worse day by day and as it seems I would leave this marriage.

My life had turned upside down... I wasn't myself any longer.

Damn! Marie!

I knew she was the one, it's definitely only her.

Alexander, I don't know what to say about him. Raven chased after me but I was fast enough to flee the scene.

Watching everyone laugh at me was one hell of an odd feeling.

I stopped a cab in front of the company and was heading home. Tears flooded my eyes to the extent I couldn't see properly.

"Where are you heading to ma'am?" The cab driver asked.

"Alexander's estate." I replied and sniffed.

"Are you sure you're okay ma'am?" The driver asked in concern.

I looked at the rear view mirror and realized he's just a young man. Maybe in his early twenties or mid twenties.

I wasn't in the mood to reply or talk to anyone so I just nodded my head positively and he started off the car engine.

My phone beeped in my bag, I opened my bag and brought out my phone.

An unread message from Helene. She finally texted back after I have texted her for like 100 times.

"I'm so sorry for not replying early honey... I'd call you this evening." The message read.

I heaved a sign, I don't know if it's off relief or stress... Which ever one.

I came down from the car once I arrived my destination and paid the cab driver. I couldn't help but wonder why the cab driver was staring strangely at me and smiling.

Weird right?

Walking into Alexander's big man after passing the first gigantic gate, I noticed a figure standing at the door post. I wondered who the person could be because I'm sure that I wasn't expecting anyone.

It could be Alexander's guest...

Guest?

On a closer look k realized it was a man.

But that's not where Alexander accepts his guest, I mean the guest is standing in the main house. The servants are supposed to show him where guests are received.

Now I was standing in front of this unknown yet familiar man.

"Good afternoon...." I greeted with squinted eyes.

Damn he looks familiar!

"You don't remember me?" He asked in surprise.

"No, I don't." I stated in affirmation.

" Okay, slow down because I obviously wasn't the one who got you angry..." How the heck does he know that I'm angry?

Or did I sound so harsh?

" I think there isn't any need for any kind of formal introduction then." He stated and walked inside.

" Wow.....Jake!" I heard Alexander's mom call out few minutes after the man went inside.

Oh damn!!!

I remember him now, he was Alexander's best man on our wedding day.

Thank goodness I didn't even act fair with him. I'm still angry with Alexander and here comes his friend whom I don't know if he acts the same way with Alexander.

I walked in,..

"Oh, Sophia, this is Jake—"

"I know him." I confirmed therefore not allowing her to finish her statements.

"Oh, alright.... That's okay."

"Mom, do you know when Alex would come back?" Jake asked, the supposed bestfriend of Alexander I guess.

"He'd be back soon I guess."

"Alright." Jake replied while I walked upstairs to my room.

"Do you both know each other from somewhere?" Alexander's mom asked Jake in a whisper, I didn't turn so I don't know what his reply would be.

As the moon shone brightly through the window, I lay on the bed as tears streamed down my face.

The feeling of sadness had enveloped me lately and no matter what I do it gets worse

I think Alexander noticed that I wasn't sleeping, he hovered over me as he peered into my eyes.

Damn!

That was happening in a a blue because I wasn't expecting it.

"What's wrong?" He asked and I turned to face him with tears filled eyes.

"Nothing to be your problem, my problem has never been yours." I stated choking on my words.

" Hey, don't say that... I'm sorry if I've made you feel bad." He robbed my head." Just know that I didn't mean it and it would never happen again." He added.

I didn't want to believe him but I did.

For some moments I thought it was all the dream but no it wasn't Alexander had apologize to me and he's holding me close to himself.

"Even if you're not where you want to be now you have so much to be proud of don't forget that." He stated. I looked into his eyes and I felt a wave of relief wash over me. I prayed that this moment to the last forever.

Leaning into him, he gave me a kiss on the cheek.

"Thank you." I muttered

After that day, Alexander began treating me with even more respect and care and love.

I wasn't despised wife any longer.

When we were at home, he made sure to give me extra attention and affection and he would always make sure to listen to me validate my feelings

But it wasn't just at home that Alexander showed his love to me. Even at the company, he made everyone knows that I'm his woman.

He made everyone understand that I'm precious to him, everyone began to treat me with more respect and consideration no one ever bullied me and Maria almost died of heart attack.

Good for her.

Alexander also made sure to introduce me to the company formally as his wife and my colleagues showed me more respect.

With Alexander's constant support I was able to stand great I was able to showcase my talent and people began to realize how good I was in designing.

If I was Marie I would hate me because no one gave her attention any longer.
