Chapter 79 Chapter 79

Chapter 79 Chapter 79
Vamica’s POV

I blinked at her, confused at what she was saying. “What do you mean, ma?” I questioned, my eyes searching through hers.

“Your parents loved you so much” She whispered to me, her voice breaking with tears. “I know that” I whispered back to her, my vision becoming blurry.

The thought of letting Knight put his hands on me once more felt like a betrayal to my parents who died at the hands of his father.

“But they wouldn’t want you to fight what is destined” She rasped out, her hands cupping my cheeks. “I can’t, grandma” I cried out, tears dripping down my cheeks.

“It’s okay, darling. Let it out” She urged, her hands stroking my cheeks. I sobbed against her hands, wanting to crawl into her arms.

It was a cruel joke that the one man who seemed to want me like nothing else had to be family with the one who destroyed mine.

The urge to go and face the chairman was strong, to question him. Why my parents? I sniffled, my tears simmering down.

My brain picked up what my grandma had said then. “How did you…?” I asked, my voice trailing off as I turned to face her.

How had she known about the fact that Knight said I was his mate allegedly? Before she could answer me, the door to her room was opened, a man stepped inside.

His eyes widened with shock before his face became blank once more. He looked familiar for some reason.

“You are here” He let out, his eyes pinned on me. I narrowed my eyes at him, wondering why he was staring at me like that.

My eyes scanned his outfit, wondering why he was in my grandma’s room. He had a lab coat on, the tag on his chest reading Dr. Chandler.

“Is there something you want to tell me doctor?” I asked, my heart speeding up slightly. I couldn’t handle another bad news.

I needed my grandma to stay with me, if possible, forever. I squeezed her hand in mine, shooting a quick glance at her.

“I would be right back” He let out as he walked out of the hospital room. What was that all about?
“I should take my leave now; it is getting quite late” I told my grandma as I removed the injection that was inserted into the back of my hand.

I winced as the area budded out blood, my legs a bit shaky as I stood to my feet. “Come back soon, Vami” She let out as I walked away.

“I would” I promised, slipping out of her room. As I walked towards the entrance of the hospital my heart thudded harder against my chest.

I pressed a hand to my chest, wondering why it was beating that fast. For a brief second, I could have sworn I perceived Knight’s scent.

My hands became clammy, the wave of longing that hit me making me let out a gasp. I had to get out of here, now!

My eyes scanned the whole area before I walked as fast as I could out of the hospital. Knight’s scent got lesser the farther I got away from the hospital.

My heart sent a pang through me, my body craving his hands around me. I stopped a cab, hesitating for a while before I called out Ethan’s apartment as my destination.

I would make it clear I didn’t want what had happened to happen again. I shuddered as the thought of going to my house flashed across my mind.

The image of the red-eyed wolf that had barged into my house flashed across my mind, the flashback had me balling my hands into fists.

I dropped at the junction to Ethan’s house, feeling suspicious of everything and everyone. As I walked towards the house, the headlights of a car flashed twice at me.

I froze for minute before I kept on walking, my legs trying to close up the distance between me and the house as fast as possible.

I heard the door of a car slam shut, footsteps walking towards me. My heart sped up as I felt the footsteps closer than it was before.

A hand clamped down on my shoulder, making me jump against the touch. I swirled around to…I don’t even know when I saw it was Lucas.

What was he doing here? “Why are you sneaking into one of Knight’s employee’s house?” He questioned, a smirk on his face.

I shrugged his hand off, my body still trembling from the adrenaline that rushed through me when he touched me.

“It is none of your business” I turned away from him to continue my walk into the house. “Wait” He stopped me, his hand clutching at my arm.

“What do you want?” I asked, my tone shaky. I hoped he doesn’t tell Knight I stay with Ethan. “I have an offer for you” He stated out once I turned to face him fully.

The sound of that didn’t predict anything good. “What offer?” I asked, my eyes snapping into a frown. I chanced another look at the porch, the light there winking at me.

“I would catch up with you before you even reach half way” He let out, his words sounding like a joke and a threat at the same time.

“What is it you have to say?” I questioned, my body tensing up with his words. “Let me protect you again the rogues circling around you” My eyes narrowed at him almost immediately.

There was no way he would do something like that out of the good of his heart. There was something he wanted in return.

“I have nothing to offer you in return” I told him, watching as his smile deepened with glee shining in his eyes.

“Oh, you do Vamica” He replied making my heart thud against my chest with pain. “I am not interested, don’t bother coming here again” I mumbled out as I walked towards Ethan’s home.
