I grabbed it off his desk, settling into my seat to look through it properly.

I clicked the flash drive open, searching through it for more encrypted file.

I saw none, making me almost give up. Just before I moved to remove the flash drive, something at the corner of my screen caught my attention.

A file that almost seemed normal. But the numbering at the beginning of its name gave away it's uniqueness.

I clicked on it, expecting the password key pad to pop up.

And it did, cement what I already knew. It was one of those files.

I manage to bypass the password, my eyes about to start reading through the file when Knight pushed the door to the office open.

I closed my laptop almost immediately, picking my phone against my ear as I shoved it into my bag.

I felt his dark eyes on me, the look making every spot he laid his eyes on feel hot.

I swallowed as I looked up at him, trying to act as normal as possible.

I was so close to finding out the truth, I couldn't stop now.

“What is wrong, bunny?” He asked, his long legs stalking over to my desk.

“N-nothing, I am just trying to reach the nurse in charge of my grandma to see if I can go see her today” I blurted out, my heart speeding as his eyes roamed over me.

As long as he couldn't read my mind, I would be fine. I swallowed at the thought, blinking at him rapidly.

He removed my glasses, making my breath seized in my lungs.

Why was he removing my glasses? Did he somehow find out?

“You’ve got an eyelash poking into your eyes” he informed me, his finger picking the said eyelash up.

“Thank you” I breathe out, my sigh of relief hanging within me.

He nodded, strolling to his seat. Now I could only hope he didn't notice the missing flash drive from his desk.

I watched with anxiety as he settled into his chair, flipping open his laptop.

“If you keep looking at me like that, I would have to assume you want something” Knight declared, his eyes not leaving the screen of his laptop.

I looked away from him sharply, my pussy clenching against air.

The subtle meaning of his statement sinking in. The slight tinge of pain from our last…rendezvous still tingled every time I shifted on my chair.

And yet, I felt arousal pooling to my core at his suggestion.

“I was just…. looking outside your window at the beautiful view” I fumbled out, my hands trembling on my thigh as he met my gaze.

“You would spend the night at my place” He declared them, his eyes flashing with finality at his statement.

“I can't, I have somewhere to-”

“Wherever you want to go, I would take you then we go home together” he interrupted me, setting his gaze once more to the screen of his laptop.

I didn't know why I slept for this long, I would have been able to view the file and return it if I had seen it earlier.

Remembering the wolf that had broken into my house, I wasn't really ready to return back to the space.

I had no choice but to follow him down to his place anyway. The rest of the afternoon passed with me working on the due projects Ethan has given to me.

The flash drive burned a hole through my bag, the urge to find out what was in the file was strong but I couldn't do that now.

I had to be patient. A message pinged into my phone then, breaking away my attention from what I was working on.

It was Lila, she sent me the link to an article.

Check this out, Vam.

The caption she used made me even more curious about what it was about.

I clicked the link, a gasp falling from my lips as I read the article.

It was about Serena. The article disclosed she was…a severe drug addict who used under the table injection shots.

My gaze shot to Knight immediately, my instincts telling me he was the one behind it. Well, she deserves it for all the things she had put me through.

I submitted all the pending projects I had been assigned to Ethan, my mind flashing images of the look on his face the last time we had met.

While I really missed him as a friend, I knew it was only a matter of time before Knight did something to him. I couldn’t stand to watch that happen so I decided I have to keep my distant from him.

It is the best for everyone involved. The work day crawled to an end, the need to already be in my grandma’s hospital room was strong.

It had been weeks since I saw her last. Apart from the burning questions I had to ask her, it was uncommon for us to go this long without communicating.

“Come on, let’s go” Knight said to me as he ushered me out of the office. I stepped into the elevator my heart pounding.

His hand brushed against my lower back as he pressed the button going to the first floor. I let out a gasp, my body tingling with the innocent touch.

“It is good we are going home; I can’t wait to hear that little breathy gasp of yours again” Knight let out, his eyes pinned on me.

I gazed at him for a while, my cheeks pink as I imagined all the things he could do to me. I licked at my lips, arousal pooling within me as I turned towards the elevator door.
“I would be right back” I said to Knight as I slammed the door of his car shut. I had messaged the nurse in charge of my grandma before I submitted my works to Ethan.

It was time to find out the truth. As I stepped into the hospital, a hand grabbed at my arm.

“You are the freckled girl with the broken heart…You are the prophecy” The woman who held my hand rasped out.
