“ Hmm, smart girl”
I chuckled, and planned my next move.
I now knew she clearly wanted it to be over with soon.
And I had to act fast to save whatever was left of everything.
“ Elsa!”
I called out, and almost immediately, she was at my door
She knocked and I let her in.
“ Hey Elsa, look I have a very important task to do.
Please I am begging you.
Elsa please watch my son for me, take good care of him, and whatever you both need will be provided, immediately you request.
I will be leaving in less than two days.”
She nodded as she listened with apt attention.
“In my absence, please take good care of Elgreen and yourself.”
I waved my hand, signalling her to leave and she left immediately.
I brought my phone out and dialed a number.
“Please go through.”
I had tried to reach Thelma.
She was one of my childhood friends, but as life seemed to stretch, we really didn't have that much of connection left, as each person tried to better their career.
She worked at the police head quarters.
“ Hello, this is Thelma d’olivera, and I am currently not available, but please try to leave a message for me. Bye, and Have good day.
I sucked my teeth as I fling my home on the bed.
“ Couldn't be that bad”
I said to myself.
I knew her work place after all.
I immediately set out for her office.
“ Good day, please I am here to see a Thelma d'olivera. Directions to her office please?”
The receptionist chuckled, “ no ma'am, that Is not the way to go about it.
You actually need to book an appointment with her with her approval before you can see her.
You cannot just walk up to her office.”
I sighed, and already pissed off, and stared at her badge.
I thought of pulling another bribe stunt, but my eye caught the little inscription on her badge.
“ Anti corruption squad”
I inhaled deeply,and tried to explain calmly to the lady.
“ Hell na ma am.
This is a serious issue at hand, and thelma is my sister.
I need to see her immediately.”
The woman's eyes widened.
“ Oh really? Let me have your IDs, you got any on you”
I raised an arm out of frustration , and slammed that desk.
“ Not that.”
But before I could say further, I felt a tap from behind
Two police officers.
“ Good day ma'am,please can we see your ID?”
they asked politely, and dipped for it in my purse, hesitatingly handing it over.
He took a brief look, and turned to the lady.
“She should have an olivera or something of sort in her name right?”
He asked, and I sighed.
“ We are sisters, but I did not mean biological sisters.
She is more like a really good friend of mine.”
The officer scoffed and handed the ID back to me.
“ You will have to leave this premises Immediately, and probably come back when you have an appointment with her, or when you have something serious to say or do with the police.”
I froened at him, and I retorted.
“ Do you even have an idea on who I am?”
He shrugged, “ It does not matter who you are in this building.
Be careful of what you say, and how you act.
You are being asked to leave this premises, and it is important that you obey my orders.”
I laughed, and asked.
“ Or what?!”
He reached for his cuffs, and showed to me.
“ Or you face an arrest for trespassing government property.”
“Oh!”
I exclaimed and he nodded still holding the cuffs.
“Allright then I'll leave.”
I walked backwards slowly, watching the receptionist, I pointed my fingers at her.
“ I'm watching you”
The men turned to me, “ Madame none of that will be tolerated here.
You are not far from being charged with threat on a police officer.”
I tried to turn but it was not early enough, and I bumped into an escort.
“ Hey woman watch your steps already.
You should be mannered in public at this age of yours”
They all chipped as they walked past.
I paused to stare at them when a lady walked right behind them.
She had a wig on her head, and in a black coat.
I could recognize the figure, and the walking step.
I smiled as I watched her walk.
The officer followed my gaze, and upon realization,he immediately pinned my hands, and reached for his cuffs.
“ Gentlemen, guard her we have a suspect here.”
I struggled with him, “set me free, I am nothing like a criminal you scumbag!”
He wouldn't buy any of my claims, and went ahead to take away.
“ Thelma!”
I yelled repeatedly on the top of my voice, and she didn't quite hear me as she walked on shielded by her guards.
I was taking away forcefully by the officers.
“ You piece of shit, you leave me alone already, I committed no fucking crime. Im only here to see a long time friend. By the way you have no idea who I am. This could get your in trouble if you are not careful son.”
They were both silent and took me away.
“ Corporal”
I heard from behind, and they both paused in their tracks, and slowly turned to the voice behind.
I saw it was their colleague
“ Hey she seems interested. She wants you to bring the lady to her.”
They looked at me with anger, and nodded.
“ Right away Captain.”
They immediately turned, and we walked back.
She had walked over to where we were, and as soon as she saw me, she flipped her hair over to remove the hair from her face.
“ Uhm why are you in this condition?”
She asked, and I shrugged.
“ Tell these men to let me roam free immediately.”
She stared at me, and laughed.
“ And if I disagree?”
I shook my head, “ Thelma this is no time for jokes, I need your help now.
I'm in grave need of your help.”
She waved her hand, and the men gave way, and took off the cuffs.
“That's freedom. Take those things off me immediately.”
I got up and walked to her.
I turned to the officers and saluted at them.
I dragged her away.
“ Show me your office we need to discuss some things, I need your help.”
She obliged, and she led me to her office.
“ Here.”
I walked in and she followed soon after.
