Chapter 102 Xander’s POV
Chapter Hundred and two
Xander’s POV
She shook her head. “It doesn't matter. The damage is done.”
“We’re messed up, Bella,” I said quietly. “The situation is messed up, it's almost like the plot of a TV show.”
I wanted to make her laugh, her eyes met mine but she said nothing.
I suddenly remembered I heard her on a phone call earlier.
“Who were you talking to earlier?”
Her shoulders stiffened. She paused for a moment before answering. “Daniel.”
That name made something in me twist, but I held myself still.
“He cares about you,” I said quietly. “I can tell.”
She didn’t respond.
I nodded slowly. “If you choose him… I won’t fight you on it.”
She turned sharply to me, like the words shocked her.
“Just do whatever you want to do.But I’m not giving up on my son. And I’m not giving up on proving to you that I'm not a monster.”
Tears welled up in her eyes but she blinked them away.
Suddenly, there was a light knock at the door. I glanced up sharply and Bella pulled Noah close.
The door opened just enough for one of my security operatives to step inside. He moved quietly, respectfully, and leaned in toward me.
“Sir,” he whispered in my ear. “The paper work is complete.”
Bella looked from him to me in confusion.
I nodded once to the guard.
“Thank you. You can go back to your post,” I murmured.
He slipped out silently, closing the door behind him.
Bella immediately shifted back, clutching Noah a little closer.
“Xander…” Her voice was uneasy.
“Why are there guards here? What’s happening?”
“They’ve been here all day,” I said. “Just outside. Making sure no one gets near your room.”
Her eyes widened. “Why?”
“My mother,” I said simply. “And anyone else who thinks Noah is leverage to get me. I need to keep you and my son protected.”
“So you brought security into a hospital?” she whispered.
“Yes.”
Her mouth fell open. “Xander… people will notice. This is too much.”
“They won’t,” I said calmly.
She blinked. “What does that even mean?”
I exhaled once and finally confessed it straight up.
“Because I bought the hospital.” I
kept my voice steady. “Matter-of-fact I bought the hospital thirty minutes ago. The paperwork has been closed. I’ve been negotiating it since the day I found out that Noah was my son.”
Her jaw actually dropped this time.
“Why would you… how… Xander, that’s insane! You can’t just… Xander… people don’t just buy hospitals!”
“I do,” I said quietly. “I’m keeping Noah safe. That hospital is now under my control. No one gets in or out without my knowledge. That includes Elena… and anyone else who might try to interfere with my son’s life.”
“But you can’t just do that! People’s lives… that’s their workplace, their livelihood!”
“I don’t care about the inconvenience, Bella. This isn’t about them. It’s about Noah. He’s my son. And I will not let anyone harm him.”
She swallowed hard and her voice was trembling. “But… but you didn’t even ask me. You just bought the hospital.”
My expression softened slightly. “I’m just protecting what’s mine. What’s ours. You and Noah are my family, and I will do whatever it takes to make sure nothing threatens you again.”
Tears welled up in her eyes. “You… you bought a hospital to protect my child? I still can't believe it.” she whispered in awe at my words.
I nodded. “Yes. And I’ll do more if I have to. I promised you, Bella… Noah will never be unsafe while I’m around.”
“You’re… extreme,” she muttered, half in awe, half in exasperation.
I smirked. “Maybe. But when it comes to my son… extreme is the minimum.”
I took a slow and careful step toward her.
“I know this seems extreme,” I said. “But you have to understand… this is about Noah. Your world, my world… it doesn’t matter. His safety comes first.”
She looked up at me, her eyes brimming with tears, a mix of frustration and admiration that I could feel before she even spoke.
“You’re… insane,” she whispered, shaking her head. “You bought a hospital just to protect him?”
“Yes,” I said simply. “I couldn’t risk leaving anything to chance. Elena… anyone else… they wouldn’t hesitate to interfere if they thought they could.”
Her voice cracked as she spoke again.
“You should have told me.”
I held her gaze. “This isn’t about asking permission. This is about making sure Noah is safe. You and I… we don’t get a choice in what threats exist. I act before they do.”
“I… I don’t even know what to say,” she admitted, her voice soft. “This is… a lot.”
I softened my tone slightly. “You don’t have to say anything. Just… trust me. I’m not going to let anyone hurt him. Or you.”
The hospital was now mine, my people already in place, and Noah… my son… was safe under my watch.
“Bella,” I added in a low voice. “I know I’ve done things you may not understand. But from this moment forward, nothing threatens Noah. And you… you don’t have to be afraid anymore.”
Her lips quivered, and I saw the tears she fought back.
This was about keeping my son alive, keeping my family intact. And I would do whatever it took.
Her eyes flicked to mine and a mischievous smirk appeared on her face.
She tilted her head and asked. “And what if I don’t want your help?”
My jaw clenched.
Why is she always questioning my help but accepting Daniel's help without question.
“Then I’ll help you anyway,” I said quietly. “Just from a distance.”
She looked confused. “What does that even mean?”
“It means I won’t push you. I won’t pressure you. I won’t demand anything from you.”
I stepped back again with my hands at my sides. “But I’m still going to protect Noah. Whether you speak to me, tolerate me, or hate me… that doesn’t change.”
