Chapter 86 - Surrender to Desire

Chapter 86 - Surrender to Desire
Kallias growled and grabbed her waist, pulling her closer, pressing her body into his lap.

"You make me lose control," he whispered, and that made her smile.

Cassie felt that way near him, immersed in a fog that took away all her rationality. It was like before with Hendrick, when they always ended up staring at each other in tense anticipation until they gave in and that desire became more controlled.

Perhaps if she could touch him, if she could experience...

She moaned in surprise when she felt his lips on her neck, kissing and licking the soft skin. She melted in his arms, her head hung back, and only sighs were heard.

She had never been so thirsty before moving to the village; that pack kept her in a constant state of excitement. Desire ran through her body like blood flowed through her veins.

She was always ready, on alert, and surrendered to the simple touch, wanting more. She could barely recognize herself; it seemed everything was distant, in the past; she was a new woman... and she liked it.

Cassie dug her nails into Kallias's shoulders, seeking support, and leaned in to kiss him. His lips were sucked, nibbled, licked, and she could only moan in satisfaction.

The movement of her hips, in response, was automatic. Undulating her body in his lap and accentuating both their desires. That beautiful, strong man wanted her as much as she wanted him; he held her with possession and kissed her with hunger, which drove her crazy.

She could feel his arousal, hard as a rock, ready to have her. Her fingers slid over his strong chest and chiseled abdomen, tracing the muscles and scratching delicately.

Cassie slid down until she reached the waistband of his boxer briefs, playing with the fabric, tempted to take the next step.

Kallias growled and pulled back just enough to look at her face. Cassie was practically trembling; her scent enveloped the place, suffocating everything else for him.

"You're so wet I can almost taste you in my mouth." The blonde inhaled deeply.

The brunette closed her eyes for a moment and opened them when she had composed herself enough.

"And do you want to taste me?" she dared to ask.

She managed to see the exact instant his irises flickered, showing how his animal side was lurking, wanting to take control.

She watched him swallow hard, fighting to think.

"This is a terrible idea."

"It is a horrible idea," Cassie agreed.

But neither of them moved away; they remained there, seemingly drunk on lust.

"I should get up and run away," she muttered without any intention of doing so.

"I need a cold shower and not to see you for a while."

She nodded. "That's a good idea. We're crossing the line."

Cassie was panting, her breathing heavy, and it seemed too costly to leave; she wanted to stay exactly where she was.

"My gums are tingling," he warned. The brunette didn't need more to understand; that was the necessary snap. "We agreed to take it slow."

She had to gather all her strength to get out of his lap; the desire pulled her back, her mind was muddled, and her body didn't want to obey. But she managed; she just leaned back far enough and threw herself into the icy water of the lake, clothes and all.

Cassie let out a startled cry, waking from the stupor, making her brain resume normal activities. She blinked a few times and adjusted her now drenched hair.

On the large rock at the edge, Kallias remained leaning against the tree trunk, breathing deeply, trying to calm down. The fabric of his underwear rose like a tent, outlining something she couldn't reach.

"You go in, I go out. I'm going home; the water is too cold, and I haven't had breakfast yet," Cassie called his attention.

With the heavy dress, she exited the lake and passed by him, leaving a kiss on his cheek.

"One day, I promise."

The brunette left him there, panting, trying to calm down. She had so much power over him and didn't know it.

When Cassie arrived at the alpha's house, Bart and Matt were sitting at the kitchen table eating cake, while Nick and Tyler prepared sandwiches.

She looked around, confused. "Where are the others?"

Taylor entered with a basket of clean sheets and frowned when he saw her. "Why are you wet?"

Cassie blushed and then laughed. "Because I was wet."

She walked past them and stopped beside Matt. "I'll want a plate when I get back; I'm starving."

She left a kiss on the blonde's cheek, who gave her a brief smile, pleased by the attention.

Cassie left her wet clothes on the bathroom floor and stepped into the shower, enjoying the warm water. The morning was cold despite being sunny, and the lake was too icy for the bath to have been pleasant.

However, it served its purpose in keeping her away from temptation. Maybe at some point in the future, they could enjoy that without guilt, without restrictions, but, at the moment, she wanted to avoid problems.

She was distracted washing her hair when she felt arms around her waist and a body pressed against her back. The smile was automatic; she would recognize him in any situation.

"Good morning, little one."

"Good morning, alpha," she replied, receiving a kiss on her shoulder.

"Sorry if I scared you earlier. I don't usually lose control like that," he justified himself.

Cassie rinsed the shampoo from her hair and turned to look at Hendrick with a gentle expression, stroking his stubble.

"I didn't run away from you; I'm not scared. I just went to check on Kallias; he wasn't well," she explained. "I know you were upset about what happened; I'm sorry."

She stood on her tiptoes and sealed her lips with his, gently. It was so natural, a pleasant and sweet routine, like a couple of many years.

Hendrick sighed and hid his face in his beloved's neck, hugging her and inhaling her scent.

"I'm not mad at you; it was just jealousy. I... I know I agreed to all this, but I didn't want to accept that you would choose to be marked by Mason first; I thought you would choose him over me," he confessed, his voice low and embarrassed.

Cassie laughed softly and caressed his dark hair, combing it with her fingers.

"I wouldn't do that, with any of you. That was the reason I didn't let you mark me in the first place. I won't choose one over the other. This was... an incident. I don't think the mark will stick."

The alpha pulled back and looked at her with a slight frown, somewhat confused. "You don't think so?"

She shook her head negatively. "No, but I didn't say anything because I didn't want to hurt Mason. I am careful with all of your feelings. Despite the recklessness, I know he will be sad when it disappears."

"How can you be sure?"

"Can you smell it? I almost crossed the line earlier with Kallias. I rejected the mark the moment I saw it today; it's too weak to stick. Uriel told me that marks are usually made during heat, on full moons, or special occasions, and forced marks usually don't stick."

Hendrick took a deep breath; there was still a residue of her natural lubrication, the sweet scent of desire, and Kallias's aroma being washed from her skin. The alpha didn't know which of the scattered pieces of information shocked him more.

"You..." He didn't find the courage to ask.

"No. We didn't," she replied. "And we won't until I feel I should. I want you to let go of those worries, the insecurities you think I don't notice. You take such good care of me; I will take care of your heart too."

Cassie smiled, serene. She quickly kissed his lips before turning to continue washing her hair.

Hendrick was surprised. She knew, she noticed the fluctuations in his gaze, the pauses in his speech, the noise in his silence. Even if he said everything was fine, the alpha still walked around as if carrying burdens, and she noticed.

Cassandra De Marco was human, a seemingly ordinary young woman. But she was proving to be sweet, kind, beautiful, and wise.

She brought breath to his chest, comfort to his heart. She was taking care of him better than he imagined.

"I love you," he whispered, but Cassie heard him and smiled.

The brunette reached for his hand and intertwined hers, leaving a kiss on the back of his hand. "I love you too."

Finishing her bath, she pulled one of the plush bathrobes Taylor had bought for her and wrapped it around her body.

"Have you eaten yet?" she questioned, tying the cloth belt.

Hendrick was only wearing the white towel secured at his hips, his long hair loose and wet. He was a temptation.

"Not yet, I wasn't hungry; I needed to see you and know that I didn't ruin everything."

Cassie smiled and took his hand, leading them back to the master bedroom. "Then, let's eat and have an important conversation, okay?"

The alpha raised an eyebrow.

"Important conversation?"
