Chapter 202: You Are My Sister, Calling the Police Is Useless
Lily gave peter a cold look. “Get out of my way." she ordered.
Yet Peter didn't move. “I was just wondering why you’ve changed so much lately," He said with a sneer "Turns out you’ve found a man to back you up. Lily, do you even care about your dignity at all?”
Lily replied icily, “And how have I lost my dignity? Mark is just a friend.”
“Lily, the way Mark was protective of you just now. Anyone with eyes could see he’s interested in you. But if Mr. Murphy were to find out about you and Mark, wouldn’t he be furious?”
She finished speaking and waited to see panic on Lily's face. But Lily's expression didn't change at all..
Peter, however, was stunned. “Sophie, what do you mean by that? What’s her relationship with Mr. Murphy?”
He had only just returned, and didn't know what had been happening..
“Peter, David told me about this as well." Sophie said. "He said Lily and Mr. Murphy are unusually close, and Mr. Murphy even gave her shares in a small tech company.”
At this, Peter understood everything.
Wasn’t this just a kept woman arrangement?
Peter fixed his gaze on Lily. “I truly underestimated you. No wonder you’ve become so bold—it’s all because you are relying on Mr. Murphy.”
Peter was furious—how could his own sister do such a thing?
Lily’s eyes grew colder. “I’ll say this one last time: Eric is just my friend.”
She had no desire to waste words on these people and tried to move past them.
“Lily, I’m not finished yet. Who said you could leave? If our parents finds out about this disgrace, they’d be furious!”
Lily’s gaze turned ice-cold. She seized Peter by the collar. “You’re not worthy of mentioning our parents.”
“I’m not worthy? And you are?” Peter retorted.
She swung her fist at him, and Peter collapsed to the floor, unable to get up.
He stared at Lily in shock. If, earlier, he thought his stumble was accidental, now it was clear—Lily’s skills far surpassed his own.
Peter regarded this unfamiliar Lily with a tumult of emotion.
He preferred the old Lily, who used to circle around him like a devoted little sister.
Lily glanced at Sophie, who stepped back in fear.. “W-what are you doing?”
Lily walked closer and wrapped her hand around Sophie’s throat, tightening her grip.
She murmured, “Did you really think that just because Austin took the blame for you, you’d walk away unscathed?”
“Let go of me!'"Sophie struggled. "I didn't force Austin to do it.”
Austin had volunteered, after all.
Lily watched Sophie struggle. “Your triumph will be short-lived. I’ll see to it that you lose everything, piece by piece, until you can neither live nor die.”
Just like she herself had once been locked in a madhouse and tormented to a miserable death.
“I believe you, I do—please, let me go.” Sophie was truly terrified now.
When had this bitch become so terrifying?
She didn’t want to die.
At last, Lily released her grip. Sophie collapsed to her knees, gasping for air like a fish on the verge of death.
Peter scrambled to his feet. “Lily, how dare you lay a hand on Sophie? Her father once saved your life!”
“That’s why I spared her." Lily replied coldly.
Peter tried to stop her, but realized he was no match for Lily alone.
He could only watch her walk away.. This new powerful Lily made him feel unsettled..
He still preferred the old Lily who use to revolve around him.
Lily walked out of the building as if nothing had happened.
The banquet soon ended.
Lily found Zoey. “How did the autograph collection go?" she asked.
“Very smoothly. I told them I was with the Empire Team, and many classmates are fans. They all wanted autographs and photos, so everyone agreed.”
“It’s getting late. Let’s head home.”
As Lily and Zoey prepared to leave, she went over to say a word to Mark and Bruce.
Mark immediately walked beside her. “Let’s go together. This banquet was boring anyways.”
Lily glanced at the sunglasses Mark wore. “You always wear those sunglasses, is it your signature look?”
“Exactly!" Mark said proudly. "I am just trying to look cool!”
Mark awkwardly adjusted his sunglasses and struck a pose. “Handsome, right?”
Zoey played along. “Very handsome!”
The group departed together.
Lily and Zoey hailed a cab and left.
Mark stood where he was, waving as the taxi drove away.
Bruce approached, his gaze complicated. “Don’t tell me you’ve fallen for her?”
Mark had hovered around Lily all night, playing the gallant protector. Even the blind could see something was off.
“Nonsense. She’s my future sister-in-law!”
“So I wasn’t mistaken back in Imperial City. That really was your brother!” Bruce had thought he’d imagined things.
Mark’s tone was curious. “What was Dennis doing in Imperial City?”
“I’m not sure. I just happened to see him with Lily once, but I wasn’t certain it was really him.”
Now he was almost sure—it had to be Dennis.
Bruce looked skeptical. “But the rumors about Dennis’s engagement to Olivia have persisted for years. Are they really false?”
If there was nothing to it, how could the rumors have lasted so long?
“It’s all my mother’s idea. Dennis never acknowledged it. She thought that, with time, Dennis would eventually accept it. As if that would ever happen.”
Mark knew Dennis better than anyone—once he made up his mind, no one could change it.
Suddenly, Bruce snatched off Mark’s sunglasses. “Who gave you that black eye?”
Mark hurriedly snatched them back. “Dennis, who else?”
Under the guise of sparring and checking if he was out of practice, Dennis had punched him!
Mark slapped his forehead. “I almost forgot something important.”
He had to tell Lily about Dennis’s true identity!
No wonder Dennis was always so quick to rough him up.
But Lily had already left, so Mark could only message her: [There’s something very important I need to tell you. Message me when you get home.]
He had to say it tonight.
Sitting in the cab, Lily saw Mark’s message, though she had no idea what urgent matter he wanted to discuss.
Zoey hesitated, then said, “Lily, I think Captain Gonzalez likes you.”
“You noticed too?”
“It’s hard not to. He was glued to your side all evening—helping you out, smoothing things over. No one dared cross you.”
Lily felt a headache coming on—she didn’t like Mark that way.
Though she still wasn’t sure if Mark was the same person from her previous life, she truly felt nothing for him this time.
The car arrived at the school. Lily dropped Zoey off first, then returned to her apartment.
But just as she got out, a black luxury car pulled up nearby.
Peter stepped out. “So this is where you live, Lily. Eric bought you this place, didn’t he?”
Lily’s expression instantly darkened. “Who said you could follow me?”
She had no desire to let anyone from the Roberts family know her address.
“Lily, I know you stormed out of the house eager to prove yourself, but you mustn’t stoop to being kept by a man! You’re coming home with me tonight!”
Lily refused to back down. “Go ahead and try.”
Peter gestured, and a van pulled up. A group of black-clad bodyguards stepped out, surrounding Lily.
Peter spoke earnestly, “Lily, listen to me—don’t go any further down this wrong path.”
