Chapter 33

After working all through the night in order to find out Jaime’s whereabouts, Lucian dialed Seth’s number.

"Hello sir," Lucian said when Seth picked up his phone.

"Yes?" Seth replied.

"I've found him. I know where he is."

Seth sat up when he heard this and he asked, "Where is my son?"

Laura had been by Jaime's bed for hours, praying for his recovery and like a miracle, Jaime opened his eyes.

"Jaime? Babe?" Laura said with a smiling face when Jaime opened his eyes Jaime woke up with a hectic headache and looked around at his surroundings. He had no idea where he was but when he saw Olivia smiling at him, he tried to smile back.

"Jaime? Babe?" That was when he realized that Olivia wasn't the one smiling at him. It was Laura.

"Where am I?" he asked.

"At a hospital," Laura replied. "How are you feeling? Let me go and get the doctor," she added and got out of her seat but before she could move, Jaime got hold of her wrist and looked at her while Laura looked at his hand on her wrist "Don't go yet" Jaime said "What happened to me? Where is Oli…"

Laura cut him off before he could finish his last word and said "Stop stressing yourself. Let me go and get the doctor"

She slowly took her hand out of his and walked to the telephone that was inside the room.

A few minutes after the doctors and the nurses had left, someone opened the door and Seth, his wife, and Lucian walked inside the room.

When Seth saw his son's condition, his eyes turned red, and he faced Laura. "What have you done to my son?"

"Nothing," Laura replied.

Seth ran to Jaime's side and said "Jaime, what happened to you?"

"I still don't know," Jaime replied truthfully, "But I'm in a lot of pain right now."

"What did you do to him?" he asked Laura again.

"Nothing. He was in an accident, and I helped him," Laura replied.

When Laura said this, everything that happened to Jaime came back to him.

"When was he in this accident that you're talking about?"

"Yesterday morning."

"Didn't we talk yesterday?" Seth asked Laura, but she didn’t reply so, he asked again. "I said didn't we talk yesterday?"

"We did," Laura replied.

"And I asked you about my son's whereabouts, didn't I?"

"You did."

"You said you had no idea where he was. Meanwhile, my son is here fighting for his life without me or his mom by his side."

"I'm sorry. I was just too concerned about him," Laura said.

Seth’s wife held Jaime's hand worriedly and said, "You will soon be out of here. We're transferring you to a better hospital."

"Okay" Jaime said before facing Laura. "Thank you for saving my life. I'm grateful."

Laura started sobbing and shaking her head "No. No. Don't say it. You're mine, baby. She's gone. She left you. She doesn’t love you, but I do. I saved your life for goodness’ sake. I'm the one for you. Choose me. I love you so much.

Do you know what I went through during those hours that you were unconscious? You have no idea what I went through. No fucking idea. Everything I'm doing is to save our relationship. Choose me. Choose me"

"She didn't leave intentionally," Seth’s wife said. "You made her leave. I don't want someone like you to be my daughter-in-law."

Jaime looked at Laura sadly and said, "I'm sorry Laura. I once loved you but not anymore. The contract we signed is still safe. We can work things out. And about Olivia, she is going nowhere. I promise you that I will find her. And I'm done keeping secrets from you people."

Jaime looked at his dad and stepmom when he said this before he continued "That little girl, that pretty little girl the paparazzi saw with us on that night is my daughter."

"Jaime?" Seth questioned while Laura started shouting, "No! No! No! No!"

"I'm sorry dad for telling you this now but Kylie, Olivia's daughter is my biological daughter. I was waiting for the right time to tell you"

"That can't be true!" Laura screamed "how sure are you that she's yours? We need to do a DNA test"

"Lucian," Seth called, "Get this woman out of this room. She's infuriating me."

"Okay sir," Lucian replied and walked to where Laura was standing "You need to leave."

Laura eyed him and said "I'm going nowhere. I'm staying right here by my fiancé"

"Go and get security if she doesn't want to leave peacefullym" Seth said.

"Okay sir," Lucian replied. As he was heading out of the room, the nurses that were to transfer Jaime to another hospital came in.

A few days later, when Jaime was strong enough to walk around, Lucian came inside his room and said, "How are you feeling?"

"Better" Jaime replied "What about the company?"

"People have been asking a lot of questions about where you're"

"And?"

"I've been giving them the same reply. You're on a vacation"

"Dad doesn't want me to go out. I'm tired of staying here. Do you know what I'm supposed to be doing right now?"

"No"

"I'm supposed to be out there looking for Kylie and Olivia"

"About them, I met your dad about two hours ago, he wants me to look for them"

"Don't" Jaime said while Lucian looked at him confusedly "Don't look for them. I will look for them myself. It should be done by me"

"But…"

"That is what I want"

"Okay" Lucian said and walked out of the room *

About an hour later, Seth came inside the room and sat on the couch that was facing Jaime "Lucian said you want to look for them yourself?"

"Yes" Jaime replied while Seth nodded in understanding before smiling "Sometimes, you amaze me"

"I don't understand what you're trying to say"

"There are a lot of things that you don't know about me and your mom"

Jaime said nothing and waited for his dad to continue "Do you know that I still love her?"

Jaime shook his head "Of course, you don't but I still do. Years ago, when we were still young, I met your mother. She was extremely beautiful. I got lost by just looking into her eyes. She was my everything. But we had a problem, I was poor and there was nothing that I could offer her. She wanted a rich boyfriend, the types that drives expensive cars and that was how she met Jon.

Weeks after they started dating, I knew about them being together. She was double dating, but I kept mute. Maybe if I had talked earlier, she would have chosen me over him, but I was acting cool the whole time until Jon won her over.

I tried to tell her what she wasn't seeing that Jon wasn't a rich guy that what he was spending on her was his inheritance, but she was too in love. There was this particular day that I will never forget. It was the day I shamelessly prostrated for her to come back to me. I was so in love. 'You're a futureless son of a bitch,' she told me, and that statement turned me to who I am today."

"So, to prove her wrong, you worked extremely hard?" Jaime asked "Yeah and even though I love your stepmom, there will always be a hole in my heart that only Claire can fill. She is the first person that I always think of when I wake up in the morning"

"Why don't you go back to her if she is the one that you want?"

"Your mother is proud. She said she's okay with her life with Jon and I respect that, but I don't want you to live the type of life that I'm living. If Olivia is the one you want to spend the rest of your life with, it's okay by me. I will support you guys"

"Even with everything that the tabloids are saying about her?" Jaime asked his father "I know they ain't true"
