Chapter 154 A Cat
Once, while waiting for the bus at the station, Jeffrey was grabbed by the wrist by Paul for harassing Ciara. Paul squeezed his wrist so hard that Jeffrey's wrist even grew a bruise.
Today, Jeffrey pinched Paul's wound, and they were considered even. But the peeping incident was not so easily resolved.
Jeffrey adjusted his suit, looked at the sky, and sighed, "You know what, Paul, even though my father is a powerful tycoon, I grew up in an orphanage! I have never experienced the feeling of being loved. I am like a pitiful abandoned dragon, destined to unleash my evil roar upon the world one day, and now my opportunity's come."
Jeffrey opened his arms to the world to announce his return, but all he got in response was a meow.
Feeling a bit embarrassed, Jeffrey expected either an angry roar or indifferent silence from Paul. He searched for the source of the sound and found that the meow was coming from a cardboard box in the corner.
Jeffrey walked up to the box, opened it, and found a small, curled-up orange cat inside.
"Abandoned, huh? Poor little thing, we have something in common," Jeffrey sighed as he picked up the cat from the box.
Looking at the cat in his hand, Jeffrey suddenly remembered something and asked Paul, "I remember you told me in the restroom before that your wound was from a stray cat bite, right?"
Paul recalled the incident, squinted his eyes. His wound was actually from Cecil's bite, but not a stray cat.
Shrugging, Jeffrey said, "It doesn't matter. Since you said it was a stray cat, then it was a stray cat. Now you have a chance to get revenge, here you go."
Suddenly, Jeffrey viciously threw the cat high into the air. Paul quickly rushed towards the small cat and caught it in his arms before it fell from the rooftop.
"You're just a despicable jerk," Paul said, glaring at Jeffrey with a fierce look while holding the little cat.
Jeffrey shrugged, raised his hands, exposed a helpless smile, and said, "Have you forgotten? I'm a pervert, remember?"
Jeffrey laughed wildly, turned around, and left the unfinished building.
Paul watched Jeffrey's back, his face darkening. He knew he had gained another enemy, and this one had very low moral standards.
The abandoned little cat shrank in Paul's arms, trembling as if startled.
"You're a pitiful one too. Let's go, I'll take you to the hospital," Paul said, stroking the cat's head as he headed to the nearby pet hospital.
Paul thought the reason the little cat was abandoned was due to illness, but it turned out it was just a bit malnourished.
"Seems your previous owner wasn't very kind to you. You can stay with me for now," Paul said to the kitten in the cat bed, next to which there was a bag of cat food and a bowl.
Suddenly, Paul's phone rang. Glancing at the caller ID, he saw it was Cecil calling.
Paul answered the phone, but before he could speak, Cecil's angry voice came through the phone.
"Paul, where the hell are you? What are you doing! Did Jeffrey do something to you?" Cecil's last sentence was filled with strong concern.
Paul scratched his head and smiled into the phone. "I'm fine, I'm already home now. There was a little incident on the way, I adopted a cat. Do you want to come and see it?"
Cecil suddenly paused, not understanding why Paul suddenly mentioned a cat. But she immediately thought of the last time in the hospital when they were dressed as nurses and made love.
'Is he referring the role play games? Damn it, what is Paul thinking? Now that Jeffrey is back, we should be thinking about how to face him, that jerk!' Cecil thought and cursed in her heart.
Annoyed, Cecil hung up the phone directly. She felt it was necessary to talk to Paul about the seriousness of the situation.
Paul looked at the hung-up phone in confusion.
"Why did she suddenly hang up in the middle of the conversation? Do you know why?" Paul asked the little cat in the cat bed.
The kitten opened its eyes, glanced at him, then went back to sleep.
In the evening, Cecil appeared at Paul's doorstep. As Paul opened the door, Cecil immediately saw the little cat lying in the cat bed.
"You really adopted a cat?" Cecil asked in surprise. She finally realized that she had misunderstood Paul.
