Chapter 148 Angry Paul
Paul bought a cup of coffee at the coffee shop downstairs from the company. In the past, he definitely did not want to spend this money, but somehow, he no longer lived as tightly as before.
"Hello, here's your coffee," the barista said, handing Paul his to-go cup.
"Thank you," Paul said, grabbing his coffee and turning to leave. But then he spotted two people in the corner, laughing their heads off.
One of them was holding a phone and introducing to the other, "I know this woman, she seems to be from the HR department. What impressed me the most is how big her chest is! Just a little smaller than their team leader Michelle's."
Paul heard the words 'HR department' and 'Michelle' and stopped. He hid behind the two employees and looked at their phone.
On the phone screen was a photo of a girl—face blurred, but Paul knew instantly it was Emma.
"Excuse me, I'll take a look." Paul walked up forcefully, grabbed the person's hand, and looked at the phone.
"What are you doing? If you want to see, go search online," the guy snapped, irritated as Paul yanked his hand.
Paul didn't care at all about the other's words. He stared at the phone with a furrowed brow because below the picture was a text describing Emma having sex with her supervisor and betraying her boyfriend.
"Have you seen enough? Can you let go of my hand? If you want to see what this slut looks like, go to the HR department." The man tried to pull his hand out of Paul's grip discontentedly.
Paul suddenly turned around, grabbed the man's collar, and said grimly, "I am the current boyfriend of the woman you are talking about. If I hear any more of your filthy language, don't blame me for being impolite!"
Paul pushed the man away fiercely, then ran towards the company. He needed to go to the HR department to check on Emma's situation—this mess could ruin everything for her.
On the way back to the company, Paul's face was very grim. Because everywhere he passed, he could hear people talking about the article. Everyone's tone was full of disdain and mockery when mentioning Emma.
"Do these people not use their brains? How can they believe such obvious fabricated articles so easily?" Paul was very angry and felt unfair for Emma.
Arriving at the floor where the HR department was located, Paul immediately stopped Martha, who was closest to Emma, and asked her about Emma's whereabouts.
"I don't know either, she took a day off today, and she doesn't seem to be in a good mood." Martha expressed sympathy for Emma's situation.
Thinking of the innocent girl Emma, who might be suffering from rumors, Paul felt a strong sense of sympathy and anger.
"Damn it, I'm going to make you pay today!" Paul's anger reached its peak at this moment. He asked a colleague to help him take a leave, then left the company directly. He planned to go find trouble with Emma's ex-boyfriend.
Emma had mentioned where Hanson worked, and sure enough, Paul spotted him right outside the building.
Hanson was lounging in a chair, scrolling through the flood of hateful comments aimed at Emma and her boss, a smug grin plastered across his face.
"These comments are enjoyable to read, aren't they?" a grim voice sounded next to Hanson.
Hanson turned his head in confusion and met Paul's grim face.
Hanson immediately remembered the fear of being punched by Paul, and unconsciously tried to run, but Paul grabbed his clothes and threw him hard to the ground.
"What do you want? You've already taken Emma away from me, now you wanna throw hands? I'm warning you, hands off me! Or I'm calling the cops—I swear I will!" Hanson shouted loudly, and some passersby who didn't know the truth stood by and whispered.
Paul didn't care about the onlookers' gaze. He punched Hanson in the face hard. "This first punch is for spreading rumors! Because you cheated first!"
The punch hit Hanson's nose, and blood immediately flowed out.
Paul threw a second punch. "This punch is for being a scumbag, living off your ex-girlfriend's salary, and still spreading rumors behind her back!"
The punch hit Hanson's cheek, and blood trickled from the corner of his mouth.
Paul raised his fist for a third punch, hitting him in the eye socket, causing Hanson's eye to swell. "This punch is for seriously hurting Emma's heart. You get that? Even after you dumped her, she's still out here wishing you the best! She's a good girl—why'd you have to mess her up like that!"
The more Paul thought about it, the angrier he became. He fiercely pushed Hanson to the floor and picked up a chair from the ground, raising it high.
