Chapter 353 Oliver vs. Nicole: Surveillance
Nicole put down her book and walked out.
Shawn was standing at the door, turning his face to the side.
"Oliver sent me over," he said.
Nicole looked at him, feeling a little guilty.
She stepped aside to let him in, took the items he was carrying, and put them away in the kitchen.
"I'll be stopping by from time to time over the next couple of days. Let me know in advance if you need anything,” he said.
“Shawn,” Nicole began, but he cut her off.
“I’m just stopping by to pick up a document. Could you go upstairs and get it for me?” he asked.
Oliver had mentioned the envelope to her before boarding.
She nodded and turned to go upstairs.
Shawn glanced at her.
As he looked away, he happened to see Rosalind asleep on the living room sofa.
He walked toward her.
She had just gotten her hair permed yesterday, and her long, thick, wavy locks were spread across the armrest of the sofa and cascaded all the way down to her waist.
It was the first time he’d seen her this closely.
She looked much the same as when he’d last seen her at the entrance to the EC studio, wearing jeans.
Today, she’d switched to a loose-fitting wool sweater.
He lingered on her for a few more moments. She was lying on her side, hugging a pillow, with a small section of her waist exposed.
The contours just above her navel were faintly visible.
To his surprise, he could even make out a hint of a six-pack.
She was truly beautiful.
When that thought crossed his mind, he was taken aback and felt his heart begin to race.
Unsure how to handle his reaction, he draped a blanket over her, tucking a strand of hair that had fallen across her cheek behind her ear.
As he looked down at her, he paused.
Only when he heard footsteps coming up the stairs did he withdraw his hand, stand up, and step aside.
Nicole handed him the documents. "I'm sorry."
Shawn took the brown paper bag and glanced down at it. "Please thank your brother for me."
Nicole’s eyes welled up with tears, and she nodded.
Shawn didn’t linger.
He glanced at Rosalind, who was still fast asleep, then turned and walked away.
Nicole glanced at the items on the kitchen counter.
Lunch was ready and still warm, but the rest were raw ingredients that she didn’t know how to prepare.
Oliver had recently started sending the housekeeper home early, afraid she’d be disturbed.
She sat down and stared at the blanket draped over Rosalind.
Had Shawn put it there?
She pursed her lips, finding the dynamic between the two of them rather intriguing.
When Rosalind woke up, she found Nicole staring at her. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
She rolled over, still wrapped in the blanket. "Nicole, since when have you become so generous? You usually won't even let anyone touch this cashmere blanket, yet today it's actually covering me. Spit it out—what do you want from me?"
This blanket was a gift from Philip.
Nicole treasured it dearly. She wouldn't even let anyone else touch it.
Hugging her pillow, she looked innocent. "I didn't put it on myself. I'd never do that."
Rosalind lay comfortably wrapped in the blanket. "If it wasn't you, then who else could it be?"
Nicole smiled. "It was your boyfriend, Shawn—the one you've never met—who put it on you."
Rosalind sat up abruptly and looked around.
Nicole chuckled. “He left ages ago. With the way you sleep, you wouldn’t even wake up if someone carried you out."
Rosalind touched her face, then looked down at the bra clasp that she had undone while she was sleeping.
“How long has he been here?” she asked.
Nicole took an amused peek at her chest. "About ten or fifteen minutes, I guess—but I have no idea how long he’s been staring at you."
She gave a mischievous grin.
Rosalind pulled the blanket tighter around herself. “Do you have security cameras at your place?”
“Ah…” They both screamed.
Rosalind snatched Nicole’s phone, zoomed in on the video, and watched the clip of Shawn covering her with the blanket over and over again.
Nicole covered her face.
Her voice brimming with envy, she asked, "Oh my God, what is he doing? He must like you! Rosalind, you’ve finally found someone!"
Rosalind’s face flushed, and her heart pounded.
Staring at the man on the screen, she muttered, "It looks like he touched my face."
She touched the side of her cheek he’d touched and stared at the timestamp.
He’d been watching her for several minutes, not stopping until Nicole came downstairs.
“What was he doing there?” Rosalind asked.
Nicole leaned in close to her. "To deliver groceries and lunch. I seriously suspect he was here just for you.”
Rosalind’s gaze fixed on the screen.
