We turned around to find Calvin standing beside the biggest cake I had ever seen. It was seven tiers tall. It was done with pink and white flowers and had both our names on it. Calvin held up two knives. We laughed. We went and joined him.
The music changed and everyone sang happy birthday to us. Then Celestia and I each cut a side of the cake. Calvin came up behind me and asked me to dance.
"I'm not .....I started to say something, but he cut me off.
"It is your birthday and you are my mate," he said leading to the dance floor to dance to a slow song.
"You know people are going to start talking," I said. He laughed.
"My love they already are, mother let it slip when she was helping make your cake." He said.
"Calvin, no one will treat me as just another student now," I said.
"Believe me Ella they will I have told them it is not to make a difference if you need to be put in medication you will be sent." He said with a smile.
"Calvin I'm still trying to adjust to this." I told him.
"I know my love; I have a whole year to court you properly." He told me kissing my forehead. I laid my head on his shoulder. My head started to spin and I collapsed.
CALVIN'S POV
Ella and I were dancing and talking about how much I was going to enjoy courting her properly when she collapsed in my arms. Everyone came running.
"How much did she drink?" Nash asked me.
"Not even half a glass. We need to get her to the hospital so the doctors can check her out" I said. Picking her up and running up the stairs her father and mother behind me.
The doctor took her away from me and went into a room making me stay outside. Mother came into the hospital
"What happened Calvin?" She asked.
"I don't know she collapsed in my arms while we were dancing." I told her.
"Was anything found in your search?" She asked. I ran into the room where they had Ella.
"Dr. Roberts check for poison hurry," I told him. The nurse took me back out.
After two hours the doctor came out. And went to her parent, I went with my mother to them we had to know.
"What ever she drank was laced with a small amount of night shade. We were able to pump her stomach and are giving her a blood transfusion. She should be fine, we will know for sure by morning someone can sit with her. I will let you know more later. " he said and walked away. Did Eirc just tey and kill my mate? But how he had left the pack for the night and we had found nothing. He had to have some one working with him.
"Alpha Calvin, go sit with Ella, we know she is your mate, let us know." Nash said.
"I will take care of her parents, and the party stuff. Jacob and Colt will be here in a minute." Mother said. Then mother put her arm around Ella's mom and the walked out together. I went in and sat beside Ella's bed holding her hand. Someone had just tried to murder my mate. But who? Eric was not al the pack the guys had found nothing in his office or suites. I linked Bethany our local witch.
"Bethany, has anyone been to see you looking for night shade?"
"Alpha Calvin, I would never give that to anyone it is well hidden under lock and key, why do you ask?" She questioned me upset that I thought she would.
"My mate was poisoned with it tonight." I told her.
"Where are you Alpha?" She asked frantically.
"At the hospital, they say they got it all." I told her.
"Bloody hell they did, I will be right there you tell them to let me in." She said and closed the link. I went out to the desk and told them to let Bethany into Ella's room that I was waiting for her. Dr. Roberts came over to me.
"Alpha, with all due respect. We can't have her here." He said. I got angry.
"You will let her into Ella's room do you understand me." I yelled. He bow his head
"Yes, Alpha." He said and nodded to the nurse at the desk. I hated him he was so behind the times. Bethany did not take long in getting to the hospital. When she came in the room she went right to Ella's side.
"Why is she sleeping?" She asked me.
"She has not woken up that I know of," I told her. She lifted Ella's eyelids.
"She should be awake, Alpha, with your permission?" She asked.
"Do what you need to do, please save my mate," I begged her. Bethany gently removed everything they had Ella hooked up to the machines started beeping like crazy. The nurse ran into the room.
"Shut off that dam noise," I yelled at her. She quickly turned off the machine and went to leave.
"Tell her to bring a large jug of ice water and two glasses." Bethany asked. I looked at the nurse and she nodded. When she came back Bethany had the nurse help put the bed into sitting position them told her to get boiling water washcloths and towel and hurry about it. The nurse looked at me.
"Do everything she tell you quickly," I told her in my Alpha tone. Bethany poured a glass of water and drank it. The other glass she poured a small amount of water and took a vile out of her habit. I grabbed her hand.
"What is that witch?" I asked.
"Alpha Calvin, you called me here to help. I need to wake her. You need to trust me; you asked me to save her." She said in an authoritative tone. I let go of her hand. She pored half the vial i with the water. It turned pink and then violet.
"Ok, my young one you need to drink this, I know you can hear me I will help you. It don't taste the greatest, but it will help." Bethany said to Ella. Then she took and put the glass up to Ella's mouth. I thought she was crazy, but Ella started drinking it. She tried to push it way. But Bethany encouraged her to finish it. The nurse came back in with the hot water and towels and face clothes.
"Put the clothes in the water and start to wash her face and hands quickly." Bethany said to me. I did as she told me Ella opened her eyes. She look confused about where she was.
"Ella, sweetheart. How are you feeling?" I asked her, pulling her into my arms.
"I will sent a list if thing I need to your Office Alpha," Bethany said.
"Thank you, can I take her home?" I asked.
