Chapter 11 CHAPTER 11
"Just before you go, Raven fill the bag with food, and we will get bottled water from the truck." Spirit said. I agreed with her it was time. I got my bag ready dressed warm and made sure I left a thank you letter. I went down and asked if I could grab a couple of fruits as I had missed breakfast. I was told to take what I wanted. I ignored Hawkins completely. When he tried to help me in the truck I ignored him and let Joe help me.
"Are you ok?" Clare asked. I guess she saw me totally ignoring Hawkins.
"Perfectly fine, I want you to know Clare we are both going through a lot of changes now, but I still love you like a sister, always will. Remember that always." I told her.
Joe asked if I was comfortable enough that was my queue to ask him for one of the wool blankets he had. He nodded and started heading out. The four trucks went in different directions. I went into Joes cupboards and got the blanket. I also took his large hunting knife and pocketknife. Leaving a letter apologizing for taking them. I rolled the blanket with the knives in it into a bedroll and tied it to the bottom of my bag.
"Joe, may i have bottle of water please?" I asked.
"Anything you need Raven; I have some jerky in there if you like it." He offered. I took that and a couple of other things and put them in the bag. Now I just had to wait for my chance to escape. I guess it bothered Hawkins I was not talking to him. I'm sure he will remember my last words to him for the rest of his life. When I did speak to him for last time.
"Raven, I'm sorry." Hawkins finally said after a couple of hours. I didn't answer him. I just kept writing in my old book. I saw Joe look at Hawkins with a questioning look. I thought to myself. How you going to explain this Hawkins. Tears started falling from my eyes. For the second time now. in years I had not cried. I swore nothing would make me cry again. After being taken and seeing my father shot. I wiped my eye and kept writing in my book. I should have never let the bond
affect me. I was so stupid. I turned so no one could see my face and began to sing as the tears fell I braided my hair putting all the pain I was feeling into it locking it away. We stopped to get fuel, and everyone got out but me. I had finished my braid and laid down to sleep.
JOE'S POV
We stopped at a truck stop to get fuel everyone got out to stretch but Raven. I heard her crying, when I had looked back she was singing and braiding her hair. I could hear the crying in her voice. Hawk and Clare had not paid attention to it. What had he said to her in the kitchen last night. Well, I was sure dam well going to find out. I paid the attendant extra to fill it for me and I went and gave Clare some money to grab some snacks. I grabbed Hawk by the arm and pulled him to where no one could really hear us.
"You want to tell me what is wrong with Raven?" I asked him.
"How do I know, she is being her normal self, or should I say her new normal self." Hawk said. I slammed my fist into the truck hard.
"Don't fucking lie to me Hawk! Did you not just hear her crying." I yelled.
"I have no idea what your talking about." He said.
"She was sing a very sad song too, I was going to start to cry with her at one point. So you tell me what you said to her, or I will pass you off to someone else to take you the rest of the way and take Raven with me." I told him. I was so angry. Clare came over to us. Get in the truck Clare and stay there." I told her.
"Why are you yelling at her? leave her alone." Hawk told me I could see his wolf coming out.
"I'm waiting, and your wolf does not scare me. The girl saw the good side of my bear you want to see the bad side?" I growled.
He pulled his wolf back.
"It is nothing, she is to young. Our bond is stronger than the one with Clare. I would not agree to something, and I guess she is mad at me." Hawk said.
"Joe, truck is full. Be careful your heading into a storm. Forty-five is closed for about fifty miles. Drive safe. I put some sand and salt in the back of the rig." The attendant told me. I thanked him then told Hawk to get in. I slammed the door when I got in. Then check on Raven she was still sleeping.
"I should take you to my pack Raven,” I said under my breath. But Hawk heard me.
"She is mine," he said before Clare came up to where we were. I looked at him
"She needs guidance, a safe environment, and someone that will guide her with her abilities."
"You can not take her from me." Hawkins said in anger. I did not push the subject further. I needed to get council on this right away. We had gone about another hundred miles in silence, when the truck blew a main front tire. I got the truck pulled over and stopped. I jumped out and checked the tire
"Fuck, last thing I need." I yelled. I got back in the truck and turned on the radio.
"Rider one to anyone near the thirty-six, come back" I said into the radio.
"Rider one, Boss here what is you twenty?" Boss asked.
"Boss why are you on the road?" I asked.
"Trouble heading your way, everyone is headed to you. Yes don't worry I got my chains on." He said. I laughed.
"You knew I was going to ask." I told him.
"Yah always do, what going on with you Rider one.?" He asked.
"I need a repair truck, driver side main tired just went. Any around?" Boss.
"I will call out Razer. I got your twenty. I will be at you twenty in five. We need to chat about your packages. Boss out." He said.
"Who is the Boss?" Hawk asked.
"Our Alpha, you can say. Must be bad if he has everyone on the Road." I told him.
"I don't understand, did someone find out what you're hauling?" He asked.
