Chapter 108 - The Blessed Luna
Shelby's POV
Elizabetha walked out the side door, took a right, and went to do her walk to her spot. Jackie followed ten steps behind her. We could hear the music softly playing. I was wondering for a moment if it were a live band. Jenna went ten steps behind Jackie. Once she disappeared from sight, we stepped up to the doorway and walked outside.
They had a make shift wall up to hide us till we got to the end of the aisle. The fence was adorned with beautiful rich green ivy, peach roses, and my lilies I love. We stopped just behind the corner of the wall. I could hear mumbles of excitement going through the crowd. The area was lit up with hundreds of twinkling lights giving off a warm glow. It was beautiful and romantic.
Joel was on the other side of the wall, across the aisle from us. He smiled at me with tears in his eyes. He spoke into a earpiece and the music stopped playing. I guess it was a live band. The wedding march song started playing, filling the air. My dad and mom stepped out and stood on either side of the aisle. Joel gave me a thumbs up. I felt so nauseous, I just knew I'd vomit. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.
I stepped out in between my mom and dad. The guests gasped in awe as they stood watching. My dad took my hand in his and kissed it before wrapping my arm in his. My mom took my other hand in her's and pressed her forehead to it, showing respect. As we began our slow long walk, I noticed the chairs had peach and coral ribbons on them. I looked all around at all the beautiful decorations. I felt as if I'd walked into a beautiful hidden garden. A mid summer's dream. All the beautiful parts of all the fairytales in one place.
I looked at my bridesmaids and they looked stunning up there on stage. I turned to look at the groomsmen, intentionally avoiding Thomas. Their tuxes were perfect. Black with a light peach shirt to match our dresses. They all looked so handsome.
I finally, let my gaze fall on Thomas and my breath hitched, I felt as if I were about to float away. My heart felt tight as if it would explode. The butterflies felt like they were going to fly right out of my mouth at any moment. He was perfect. His dirty blonde hair was perfectly fixed. His beautiful green eyes were focused on me. I could see the tears building up. I got a little choked up. We stopped at the end of the aisle. My mom kissed my forehead and took her seat. My dad walked me over to Thomas.
"Where's the person that will marry us?" I whispered to Thomas.
Lightening flashed across the sky and the thunder rumbled loudly. Hera appeared before us.
"I will be the one to oversee this union." She smiled sweetly and took her place. "Who gives this woman to this man?"
"Her mother and I do." My father said proudly as he kissed my forehead.
He put my hand in Thomas' hand.
"Everyone, we are here to join these two very important people in an unbreakable union for all of eternity." Hera spoke loudly. "They have chosen to write their own vows. Thomas will you please begin."
Asher and Annabella pushed forward to share this moment. They were a part of us, it's as if they were getting married too. I saw Thomas' eyes change. One eye was his beautiful green and the other was Asher's gorgeous teal. I knew mine must be gray and icy blue.
"Shelby, I thought of a million things to say. None of them seemed to explain how I felt the correct way. I ended up deciding to wing it, so here we go." He chuckled nervously. "When I was 8, I walked into a classroom and my eyes were instantly drawn to a curious, shy girl. Her gray eyes captivated me. Her timid, humble charm grabbed my heart. I knew right then I needed to be your friend. I felt the need to protect you that very moment. No matter what happened, I needed to be by your side. As we grew I always wanted to be more to you romantically, but just being your friend would be enough, as long as I got to be near you. When I turned 18 and knew you were my mate, I thanked Selene. I was also very confused and conflicted because of certain situations. I did know ... I would never reject you. You were my childhood crush. My first girlfriend. My first love. My first everything. I'm so glad your also becoming my first wife tonight ... No! That's not how it was suppose to come out. You'll be my only wife. Geezzz. ... Anyways, we are completing yet another way for us to become more entwined in our connection. I wouldn't have it any other way. My vow to you is simple, yet it is very true and pure. I vow to stand by your side, no matter what comes our way. I vow to love you and respect you for eternity. I vow to rule by your side, as your equal. I vow to protect you, cherish you, defend you, be loyal to you, and serve you. You were the only girl for me even before the mate pull, you will be the only one for me forevermore."
I had tears running down my face, with a few chuckles. To hell with my makeup. I took a deep breathe. I closed my eyes to try to calm myself.
"That was sweet and beautiful. Your turn now Shelby." Hera said encouraging me.
"I had a bunch of things wrote down. I had all kinds of things to say. You know I always have to be prepared. I had it rehearsed. Perfected. But ... standing here now I can't think of any, single bit of it. Strange how that happens." I chuckled myself. "Winging it it is then. Thomas, I'm not perfect, but you never judge me. I also fell in love at first sight with you. You were the cutest boy I'd ever seen. You've grown into the most handsome man I've ever seen."
James gave off a soft cough. I rolled my eyes as we all quietly laughed that was close enough to hear.
"I hid a lot of my life from you because I wanted to always bring you happiness. I never wanted you to worry about me. You saved me, accepted me, and loved me ... for me. You don't expect anything from me except to do my best. You trust me and give me lots of responsibility because you have faith in me. I grew up never wanting to leave your side as well. Now I never will have to worry about those things. My vow is simple and enduring too. I vow to be the one who will always stand behind you to keep pushing you forward. I will help make you the best you can be, to accomplish anything. I vow to be the one who stands by your side to walk through time with you. You will never be alone. I vow to be the one who stands in front of you to guide you and protect you. If anyone wants to double cross you they have to triple cross me first. I loved that little boy the first second my eyes meet his, I love the man you have become through the years, even more. Your an amazing mate. I can't wait to spend eternity with you. I wouldn't have it any other way."
"That was touching and beautiful." Hera said sweetly. "Now ... Rings!"
Hermes appeared. He had a box that he handed Hera.
"These beautiful rings were crafted by my sweet son, Hephaestus." She handed Thomas my ring. "Repeat after me ... With this ring, I bind my soul to yours. I promise to give you bright days and hold you through the bad ones. I vow everything that is in me is yours."
Thomas repeated the words and put my ring on my finger. I repeated the words and put the ring on his hand. Hermes handed Hera some kind of sash. Hecate appeared beside her.
"Hello, darling. I will now do the witches bonding. It's called hand fastening. If you will put your left hands together, flat against each other." Hecate had so many emotions of love and pride on her face.
We did and she took the sash. She wrapped it around our wrists, saying a few words as she did so in a language I didn't know. All of a sudden our rings started to glow. The lights hugged each other, consuming our rings. Then the glow ran up our arms to our chest ... no our hearts. I felt the warmth wash over me, connecting me to Thomas even more. I felt like I was going to burst from so much excitement.
"Do you two take each other till the end of days?" Hera asked happily.
"I do." We both said excitedly.
"Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. and Mrs. Knight." Hecate announced proudly.
The crowd hit there feet in a standing ovation. They turned into screaming fans at a concert. They were whistling and yelling. Thomas took my hand and we headed back down the aisle. Jenna and James joined together and followed, Jackie and Liam followed, then Elizabetha and Daminix. Everyone important came back to the side of the hall to do pictures. Everyone else was being directed on how to change everything around to make it into a reception area.
The night went on till the sun came up. Thomas and I left not long after the reception started. He kept going on about what else we needed to complete before the moon left the sky. Fingers crossed.
--- Shelby Knight. Sounds amazing. Life couldn't be any more perfect then it is right now for me. ---
