Chapter 170 Memorial

Chapter 170 Memorial

"Same to you!" Ella said with a smile.

After chatting for a few more minutes, Sarah had to catch her flight and reluctantly hung up.

Ella was genuinely happy for Sarah. For such a long time, Sarah had been badly hurt by that jerk Marcus.

She had finally moved on, and Ella hoped Sarah would find a boyfriend who's right for her.

From Sarah's tone just now, Ella could feel how happy she was.

As for Jason, Ella had actually thought about it, but recently she'd realized that some things just can't be forced.

She really didn't have romantic feelings for Jason. She needed to find a chance to make things clear with him, so he wouldn't waste his time on her.

About half an hour later, the car stopped near the cemetery.

Light rain was drizzling from the sky. Ella took an umbrella, holding it in one hand and flowers in the other, walking along the stone path up the mountain.

Looking at the green mountains and clear waters here, her heart felt especially heavy.

Finally arriving at the cemetery, she saw that no one had cleaned Janice's grave in a long time.

Ella set the flowers aside and reached out to clear away some weeds around the tombstone.

Only then did she carefully place the flowers by the tombstone.

Looking at Janice's kind smile in the photo, Ella's eyes were already moist.

"Mom, I came to see you. Lately, I keep dreaming about you, but I can never see your face clearly."

"I'm doing pretty well. I've started my own company now, and it's developing nicely."

"Even though I'm divorced now, I'm quite free. I can finally live for myself."

"And those projects you had before, I donated them to the country. I know you won't blame me for it, right?"

"Because I know those things were too dangerous. If they fell into the wrong hands, the consequences would be unthinkable."

"Oh, and there's something really satisfying to tell you - John and Carol both got what they deserved. Carol was the one who trafficked me back then, and they've both received their proper punishment."

"I've faced quite a bit of danger recently, but I believe God has been protecting me."

"I know that even though you're gone, you can't bear to leave me. Now that all the danger is gone, you can rest in peace."

...

Ella just went on and on like this, saying so many things from her heart in front of Janice's tombstone.

After saying all this, Ella felt her mood had lifted.

The entire cemetery was cold and quiet, tombstones everywhere, and she was the only person there. Yet Ella wasn't scared at all, because Janice was here.

Seeing it was getting late, Ella bowed to the tombstone.

"Mom, I'm leaving now. I'll come visit you when I can!"

On Ella's way down the mountain, the rain actually stopped and the sky cleared. A rainbow even appeared in the sky.

Ella felt her mood brighten considerably, and even the air around her seemed especially fresh.

Meanwhile, on Judith's end, Judith was going crazy. John, though lying paralyzed in his hospital bed, still wouldn't stay quiet.

At mealtime, he knocked over his food with his hand, spilling it everywhere.

Judith was so angry she smashed the bowl to pieces.

"What exactly do you want? I've lost everything now, and I still have to take care of you, this useless person, and you're still making trouble for me?"

John watched Judith lose her temper at him, and being sick made him especially irritable too.

"I'm your father. Isn't it natural for you to take care of me? I didn't knock it over on purpose."

"You did it on purpose! The day before yesterday you deliberately knocked over the soup. Two caregivers have already quit because of you. What more do you want from me?" Judith screamed hysterically.

"You bastard, you see I can't move, so you don't want to take care of me anymore, is that it?"

"You think I want to take care of you? You have another daughter - Ella won't even come see you, and I've already done more than enough for you."

"Don't mention her to me. I don't have her as a daughter." John became even more furious at the mention of Ella.

John and Judith had a huge fight. Judith had no choice but to find another caregiver for John and left angrily.

She dragged her heavy steps back to the door of her rental apartment, only to see several thugs at the entrance.

Judith immediately sensed trouble, knowing these people must be here to collect debts.

John owed a huge sum of money, and creditors kept showing up one after another. Judith was about to lose her mind.

Just then, someone with sharp eyes spotted Judith and shouted angrily at her.

"You bitch, where do you think you're going? You owe money and won't pay it back, and you still want to run?"

Judith didn't dare look back and took off running. Urgent footsteps sounded behind her.

Judith was extremely nervous - she absolutely couldn't let them catch her.

Just as she was about to step out the building entrance, two tall men appeared at the door, blocking Judith's way.

"Where do you think you're running? You think you can get away? Pay up now."

Judith looked back - those people behind her had already caught up. She was completely desperate.

She looked at these people fearfully, her voice trembling as she spoke.

"Please have mercy. I'm not the one who owes you money - John does. It has nothing to do with me. Why are you coming after me?"

"Who else should I go after if not you? John can't even take care of himself. You're his daughter, so of course I'm coming after you."

"He has more than just me as a daughter. I've already lost my job and have no money at all."

"My sister is the owner of Diamond Tech Solutions. She's very rich. Go find Ella - she'll definitely give you the money."

Judith just wanted to get away now. Besides, she wasn't lying - Ella really was John's biological daughter.

One of them immediately made a phone call and had someone on the other end check it out.

The person told him that John did indeed have another daughter, and it was Ella.

One of the men in a floral shirt, named Hunter Gibson, looked Judith up and down with a very sleazy expression.

"Until we get our money back, you're coming with us."

"We're taking her with us. If she really has no money to pay, then she'll have to pay with her body."

Hearing Hunter say this, Judith felt like the sky was falling. She kept shaking her head.

"Please, let me go. I really don't have any money. Go find Ella - she'll definitely give it to you."

"Stop talking. Take her away now."

When the others heard the order, they surrounded her and forcibly subdued Judith, pushing her into a van at the entrance.

Her hands and feet were tied up, and a greasy rag was stuffed in her mouth. The smell made Judith feel waves of nausea. Her eyes were now filled with nothing but despair.
