Chapter 50

Chapter 50
On this side, Daniel came back to the old neighborhood with his backpack, feeling lost and dejected.

Standing downstairs, he looked up at the small house where he and his mother and grandmother had lived. Excitement filled his heart, and his mother's smile came to mind. The longing he had felt for many days suddenly overflowed, quickly driving away the incomprehensible feelings of loss.

He grinned broadly, as if a century had passed, and quickly took small steps up the stairs, running "dong, dong, dong" all the way...

He arrived at the door of his home. The door was ajar.

"Yo..." Before Daniel could say anything, he was immediately stunned by a man's angry roar.

"You bastard! Look at what kind of daughter you've raised! She has been fooling around with wild men all these years and even gave birth to a bastard child! Since she's not righteous, don't blame me for being unrighteous!"

"David, don't get excited. Sofia must be figuring something out. Can you give her some time? Don't hurt Daniel. The child is innocent..." It was his grandmother's voice. Daniel furrowed his eyebrows lightly.

Why did Grandma say not to hurt him? Wasn't he here safe and sound?

With doubts in his mind, Daniel walked quietly to the door and looked inside through the crack...

At a glance, he saw the old man who was scolding his grandmother. Who was he? He looked fierce and cruel.

"Evelyn, you still claim to love me! All these years, I treated you well. If I hadn't taken you out, you would have been sold to some remote village as someone's wife! Now, you have a daughter and you don't care about me anymore, do you?" David's eyes had turned red with anger.

Evelyn was weeping, almost kneeling in front of David. "No... David, I know you were kind to me in the past. Even if I were to be a slave, I would never betray you. But the child is innocent. It's better if you use me as a hostage..."

"Don't stand in my way. Get the hell out of here!" David kicked Evelyn hard, sending her flying and hitting the wall.

Daniel crouched by the door crack, his heart pounding!

Only then did he see the little boy who was tied to a chair inside the room, his mouth gagged with a white cloth...

Was it him?

A look of shock flashed through Daniel's clear black eyes!

He had seen his picture countless times in the Jonson family mansion, even though the boy in the picture looked exactly like him, Daniel recognized him at a glance. The boy who was tied up was none other than the young master of the Jonson family, Andrew!

How could Andrew be in his own home?

"David...I beg you..." Evelyn collapsed to the ground, crying in pain.

Daniel clenched his small fists, his face turning pale with anxiety. Suddenly, an idea flashed through his mind...

In the conference room.

Sofia's fingertips turned white as she tightly gripped her phone, trembling. Her father's behavior was outrageous!

Her pupils stared fixedly at the screen, where her son remained calm even though he was bound. The dark and sparkling eyes emitted a glint of determination, as if to tell her, "Mom, don't worry about me..."

Daniel.

Sofia's eyes turned red with tears.

She couldn't let anything happen to her son!

"...Michael, regarding the overall construction of the ’X’ project, we lean towards the North American style..." a department manager was still giving a detailed report.

Sofia couldn't control herself anymore. She sat in the corner, then suddenly curled up under the chair, and quietly ran out along the wall...

As soon as she left the meeting room, she immediately called David's number -

The other party answered with a rough and gruff voice, "You unfilial daughter, you finally decided to answer my call?"

"What have you done to my child?" she said coldly, her heart sinking.

"Don't worry, I haven't become that heartless yet. The child is temporarily safe, but I can't guarantee what will happen in the future..."

David's sinister tone made Sofia's heart chill.

What a ridiculous father-daughter relationship, she sneered, "I'll get the drawings right away, but you better not touch a single hair on my child!"

"Good, I'm waiting for you!"

She hung up the phone, took a few deep breaths, straightened her back, and pretended to be calm as she stepped towards the president's office, one step at a time, wearing high heels.

Daniel ran down the stairs with her backpack thumping loudly, her small face turning pale with fright.

The image of her weeping grandma and helpless Andrew kept replaying in his mind.

His mother was not home, and he had to find a way to save them.

Daniel ran wildly all the way to a newsstand, and gasping for breath, she asked the newsstand owner, "Uncle, there are bad guys in my house. Can I borrow your phone to call the police?"

"Ah, is that true, little boy? I will help you dial 911 right away..."

CEO's Office.

A terrifying silence filled the room.

Sofia sat in front of Michael's computer, her hand gripping the mouse tightly as sweat beaded on her forehead.

Her onion-white fingertips entered the password on the keyboard for the ninth time.

"Password incorrect!"

"Damn it! What harm would it do to have an easier password!" She gritted her teeth and looked at the clock on the wall. It was 11:55 AM, and she had only five minutes left until lunchtime.

Her heart pounded faster and faster, and time was running out.

She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, trying to imagine a password that matched Michael's style.

Suddenly, a Isabella name flashed through her mind.

Her fingers instinctively entered the name into the computer.

With a gentle music, the desktop program appeared on the screen!

"Yes!"

She almost couldn't help but cheer, but her heart suddenly sank.

It turned out that the Isabella was really someone very important to him...
