Chapter 283 Final Chapter [Grand Finale]

Chapter 283 Final Chapter [Grand Finale]

"Amelia! Amelia!"

A familiar, anxious voice kept calling in her ear.

Who was it?

Who was interrupting her beautiful dream of Patrick?

Cecilia frowned in displeasure.

"Doctor! Her hand moved!"

It was Stefan's voice.

His voice was thick with uncontrollable joy, and with a tremor he could not hide.

Then a warm, dry hand gripped hers tightly.

That familiar touch and warmth gave Cecilia's drifting consciousness an anchor, slowly pulling her back down.

She used all her strength and finally opened her eyes.

The harsh white light made her squint instinctively. After a moment, her vision adjusted.

Above her was a pure white hospital ceiling.

Then Stefan's face came into view, filled with worry and exhaustion. Stubble shadowed his jaw, and his eyes were sunken and bloodshot.

He looked even more haggard than when he had come out of detention last time.

"Amelia..."

Seeing her wake up, Stefan's eyes instantly reddened.

He leaned down and pulled her into an extremely gentle embrace.

The hug was so light it had almost no weight, yet Cecilia could clearly feel his entire body shaking violently.

He had been so afraid.

"What... happened to me?" Cecilia asked, her voice terribly hoarse.

"You fainted." Stefan released her and carefully tucked in the corners of her blanket, his own voice still rough with lingering fear.

"The doctor said you were under too much mental stress, and when the tension suddenly released, your body could not handle it."

"It is okay... You are fine now. Just rest well."

As Cecilia listened to his words, everything that had happened before she fainted came flooding back.

Rufus was dead.

The nightmare that had haunted her for two lifetimes was finally over.

Cecilia's eyes welled up, and tears began to fall uncontrollably.

They were not tears of sadness.

They were tears of release, of rebirth.

"Do not cry." Seeing her tears, Stefan was immediately at a loss, clumsily wiping them away.

"It is all over, everything is over. No one can hurt you anymore."

Cecilia looked at his face so close to hers, filled with distress for her, and reached up to touch his cheek.

"You have lost weight," she said softly.

"I am fine." Stefan caught her hand and kissed it. "As long as you are safe, nothing else matters."

"How long was I unconscious?"

"Three days."

Cecilia froze. "So you... have not slept for three days?"

Stefan did not answer. He simply looked at her steadily with those bloodshot eyes.

The answer was obvious.

"Are you crazy?" Cecilia sniffled, her voice breaking into sobs.

"I am not crazy." Stefan smiled, his smile weak but content. "Watching over you is the sanest thing I have ever done in my life."

He leaned down and placed a precious kiss on her forehead.

"Amelia, when you are better, let us have another wedding."

"A wedding that truly belongs only to us, with nothing but blessings."

"Okay." Cecilia looked at him and smiled through her tears.

Cecilia stayed in the hospital to recover.

Nothing dramatic happened during this time. She recovered quickly, and eventually grew so restless that she set up a small table on her hospital bed to work on designs.

As for Elodie, she was taken away by the police on the wedding day for questioning.

Because she identified Rufus at the critical moment and did not cause any actual harm, and because she had previously provided key evidence of Rufus framing Stefan, which counted heavily in her favor,

the police ultimately decided not to bring charges against her.

After her release, Dione gave her a sum of money and had her leave Harmony City.

From then on, they never saw each other again.

As for Rufus's death, although it caused a huge stir in society and attracted a great deal of attention,

As the terrible things he had done while alive were exposed by the media one by one,

Public opinion gradually settled down.

Most people felt he had simply gotten what he deserved.

Time is the best healer.

It slowly soothed everyone’s wounds and helped everything move toward the light.

One month later.

Cecilia was discharged from the hospital.

Waiting for her was a wedding even more grand and heartfelt than the last one.

The second wedding took place on the private lawn at the Hensley Mansion that overlooked the entire night view of Harmony City.

With the tension and danger of the last time gone, everyone present this time truly cared for them and loved them.

The glow of the sunset cast a warm golden light over the lawn.

Cecilia walked toward the altar on Robert's arm.

In the front row below, her mother, Mabel, was already crying, yet still trying hard to smile.

Beside her, Dione elegantly handed her a tissue, looking toward Cecilia at the altar with complete approval and affection in her eyes.

In a corner of the guest seating, a gray-haired woman sat quietly.

It was Bronte.

She wore a clean, proper dress and looked somewhat confused, staring blankly at her surroundings, as if she did not understand where she was.

But when Cecilia appeared in her wedding dress, a glimmer of light suddenly flickered in her cloudy eyes.

Her mental state still had not recovered. She did not recognize Stefan, nor Robert and Mabel.

But watching that figure in the white wedding dress, she instinctively began to murmur.

"So beautiful..."

"My daughter... is getting married."

Cecilia saw her too.

The resentment and pain from her past life all vanished when she saw this brief moment of clarity.

Cecilia smiled at her from afar, then looked away, gazing firmly toward the end of the aisle.

That man stood there, waiting for her with burning eyes.

Robert solemnly placed Cecilia's hand in Stefan's.

"I am entrusting my precious daughter to you. You must make her happy."

"Dad, I will."

Stefan gripped Cecilia's hand tightly and led her to stand before the priest.

He did not recite the standard vows.

He simply turned and gazed deeply into Cecilia's eyes.

"Amelia."

His voice was steady and clear, carrying across the entire lawn.

"I do not care who you are or where you came from."

"I only know that from the moment I fell in love with you, you became Stefan's only wife in this life. I will always protect you and give you stability and happiness."

"All the suffering of the past, I will end."

"All the happiness of the future, I will give."

"Will you?"

Tears streamed down Cecilia's face.

She nodded hard, her voice choked but crystal clear.

"I will."

Stefan slid the ring onto her finger, then cupped her face and, amid everyone's blessings, kissed her deeply.

This kiss said goodbye to all the darkness and the past.

This kiss opened their brand new, sunlit future.

Two lifetimes are such a long time.

But at last, this long journey had brought them to each other's side.
