1: A mission

Aurelia.

“You have a mission to complete in Chicago. He’s Davis Brooks. I want you to get rid of him."

Dad spun around with the glass of whiskey in his hands and pointed at the table. “That’s a picture of him, and your flight to Chicago is in two hours. You should get ready.” He sipped from the glass of whiskey.

I was seated on the couch in his study with my legs crossed.

I picked up the picture and stared at the man. Blonde hair, blue eyes. “You’ll find him in the Vegas Bar tonight in Chicago, everything has been put in place and you’re not going with your goons. You’re going alone.” He added and stared at me for a little while. He cleared his throat. “You’re strong enough.” He turned his back to me and gazed at the window. His sleeve shirt was rolled up to his arm, revealing his tattoos, his skin had become quite fragile and wasn’t toned with muscles anymore.

“Davis is an enemy. That’s all you need to know, once you come back from this mission prepare to take the gang because I will retire as a Mafia Lord.” He chugged down the liquor and I stood up, took the bottle of whiskey from the table, and refilled his glass.

“I will go to Chicago and bring the news of his death to you.”

His hand went to my black hair, and he stroked it affectionately. “You’re a good daughter. Hurry, you don’t have enough time to waste.” A smile crinkled his face; he took his hands away and placed them in his pocket.

I bowed slightly and sauntered to the door. “And Aurelia...” I halted and stared at him. “Be careful.”

“And maybe you should stop drinking.”

He snorted and waved me off with a hand.

Harrison Oscar wasn’t my birth father, he was the man who adopted me from the orphanage when I was sixteen.

I had a tough childhood because of my father and my stepmother but they died in a ghastly accident and that was how I ended up in the orphanage Harrison found me and took me as his daughter because I have learned to be strong and fend for myself.

I always get into fights with the other kids at the orphanage because I don’t stand bullying and being bossed around, and when Harrison came, the nuns didn’t hesitate to push me toward him.

I was born as Della Hernandez but not anymore, after I was adopted by Harrison who turned out to be a feared mafia lord in the Bronx, in New York City, my name was changed to Aurelia Harrison, daughter and heiress to a multimillion-dollar underground empire.

I was the queenpin, and my code name was Benny.

I was trained by my father himself, I had to be his right woman, I learned martial arts, and took secret classes to learn the arts of seduction so I could easily annihilate my prey. My first mission was when I turned eighteen, and I proved myself to be worthy of Harrison’s daughter.

Since then, I have been his most dangerous goon because I have never failed a mission.

Never!

I came down from the Bentley car, and the double doors of Vegas Bar threw open, the guards bowed and I stepped in.

Heads turned the moment I came into the bar, dressed in a short seductive blue silk dress with a slit at my right thighs, and brought out my well-defined fugue. My cleavage was exposed because it was a strap dress, and I was holding my coat without putting it on.

I wore a red hair wig which had bombshell curls.

My red heels clicked on the ground as I walked, smiling flirtatiously at my prey, and the men at the bar, the lights were dimmed, and the soft music was blaring through the speakers.

He was seated at the bar section, taking a swig of the liquor with his eyes fixed on my body.

I swayed my hips as I strutted fully into the bar, ignoring the whispers from the lustrous men around me.

I sat on a chair close to Davis and pretended as if I didn’t know who he was, so I ordered a cocktail.

I sipped from my drink and took them with me to the dance floor when a song came in.

I danced seductively while taking a drink from my cocktail, he watched all my moves, I could see his jaw clenched, and then, he looked away.

I felt a pair of strong hands on my hips and pulled me closer to his body. I turned to the bar section, I noticed he wasn’t seated there anymore.

I smirked and ground my hips against his lower body.

“You’re teasing me ain’t you?” His voice is deep baritone, and hoarse.

I shook my head with a grin on my face. “I just danced.”

“How about we get to know ourselves better,” I felt his breath at the nape of my neck. I could feel his erection from his pants pressed against my butt.

“I’m Davis Brooks, and I want you.”

Davis Brooks, in my estimation, appeared to be in his thirties. I wasn’t given much information about him, but he wasn’t different from the other men.

The night went on, we drank and laughed, and the music flowed effortlessly through the room.

I left him to get our drinks and led him to one of the hotel rooms. His hands were wrapped around my waist, and the other was touching my exposed thighs.

He opened the hotel room, and I followed him in, kept the drinks on the table, and teased him sensually as I pushed him down to the bed and set myself above him. I took off his shirt and his hands were on my hips.

I tossed the shirt aside and trailed a finger on his chest. I stood up to get the drink and gave it to him, I took mine and brought it to my lips but didn’t take a sip from it.

I had already poisoned the whiskey I brought to the room.

I climbed back to the bed, and he tucked my hair behind my ears. I was ready to pull out my jackknife that clung to my thighs while I brought my lips to kiss him.

As I reached for my knife, the satchel was empty, and then I saw the smirk on Davis's face. He pulled me close with his hand at the back of my hair. “I know who you are, Aurelia, or should I say Della.” He chuckled darkly.

I panicked, and quickly sprinted off his body.

He laughed. “I would say you're a smart, pretty lady, and you got me right there. I wouldn’t have thought, this was what you came for. I underestimated you, it’s a pleasure to meet you, Queen Pin.”

My legs gave in, and I fell.

This can’t be happening, how did he know?

“Your tactics are known but I did fall for them.” He grinned, showing off just his upper teeth.

Before I could react, he pinned me down with a gun cocked on my head.

“How about I call the old fart and tell him I got his little princess?”

I glared at him, he was aware of my identity and there wasn’t any need for pretense. I moved swiftly, snapped the gun from his hand, and flipped him. I picked up the gun and aimed for his temple.

“You are right, you underestimate me, Davis.”

He threw his hands in the air, and I was gonna pull the trigger when his men broke into the room pointing their high guns at me.

I pulled Davis to his feet and used him as my shield. I was outnumbered by them, and if I made any hasty move, I would end up getting killed.

“If you move, I will kill him.” I threatened.

I stepped back with the gun on his head till I reached the edge of the balcony. I threw my head behind my shoulders and looked down, it was high from the busy streets, and this was the only way out.

“Don’t come closer. I will shoot.”

I quickly pushed Davis away and jumped.

In a split second, I was free-falling from the high balcony.

I reached for my satchel and brought out my mini parachute in haste and I floated gracefully through the sky.

“Shoot her!” I heard Davis's angry voice from the balcony. “Don’t let her escape!” He shouted.

They fired at me, and I glided skillfully till a bullet hit the parachute and pierced my left arm.

I groaned and crashed into an open car truck, banging my head against it. The roof of the car was closed, and I was covered.

Before I slipped out of consciousness, the car moved.
