Chapter 60

“What are you thinking about?”

Octavius asked but his eyes were on where Rhiannon’s hands were roaming.

As her husband, there are some things that the latter can’t hide but she had succeeded in hiding the ring even from her husband.

Every time she went to sleep, she would first lock herself in the room or closet, remove it, and hide because she was afraid that Octavius might see it when they were making love. Although they don’t do it daily, she is always on guard against Octavius after what he did.

“Uhm? Nothing,” Rhiannon said immediately and she let go of the ring hanging in her neck and pretended that there was nothing.

Octavius knew that she was hiding something but he didn’t ask as he understood that if the latter was hiding it from him, it meant that she still didn’t trust him.

He felt displeased as he wanted her to trust him fully, always share her things with her, and depend on him.

‘Does that mean you trust her fully?’ a voice in his head asked, stunning him in the process.

He opened his mouth to speak but he couldn’t find the right words to answer the question. He found himself shutting it after some time when he couldn’t come an with an answer.

At this point, he understood that he was just like Rhiannon who was on guard against him. She didn’t trust him since as they had been together for a little time while he on the other side didn’t trust him and didn’t intend to ever tell him those things.

He stopped talking to him as he wondered why he was bothering to get her attention and her love and care when he on the other side didn’t seem to trust her even a single bit. Because of this, he felt ashamed and decided to do as he wanted and behave instead of saying and behaving but on the other side like the perfect and trusting husband. Rhiannon had trusted him enough to share some of her problems with her but he was still keeping his identity as a secret.

Just thinking of it made his mood foul.

Rhiannon who was still in thought frowned as she recalled something and gazed at Octavius.

“Octavius,” she called out to him softly causing all the conflict and confusion in the man’s eyes to vanish and be replaced with softness and doting as he stared at her.

Even though he didn’t know or notice the change his men at the front noticed it and were happy for him since they wanted their young master to have his own family and always be happy.

“Yes,” he replied.

“What does it mean when someone about to die tells you that? It is okay she would still die anywhere but someone sped up the process?” Rhiannon asked as her big watery eyes stared at Octavius in curiosity as he waited for his answer.

Octavius and his men were stunned by his answer before they looked at Rhiannon with sympathy.

“Why are you all staring at me like that?” Rhiannon asked in a displeased tone as she didn’t like the way they were staring at her

‘I have asked him a question but they are now looking at me with sympathy? Who told them that I want their sympathy while what I want is an answer?’ Rhiannon asked herself as she became furious.

She snorted before turning around and looking out the window.

Upon seeing her actions, the three men were shocked and Octavius glared at his people as he thought that they were the reason for her behavior without noticing that he was also behaving like them.

The men at the front snorted secretly but didn’t say anything for fear of making the boss angry as they had already made him angry before and were afraid that their punishment might double.

“Sorry about that. If a person says that, that means that, she was still about to die or knew that she was going to die but there was another person who sped up the process,” he said causing Rhiannon to frown as she was not satisfied with his answer.

“Man, how can you call that an explanation when it isn’t a satisfying explanation?” Rhiannon asked as her eyes were red out of fury.

Octavius wanted to chuckle as he found her cute when she was angry but blocked it afraid of making her mad at him.

“I am sorry Your Highness. What I mean by speeding up the process, is there was someone who poisoned her causing her to die fast,” he said in a serious tone.

Immediately Rhiannon heard his words, her eyes turned cold and the aura around her also changed to murderous and bloodthirst.

No matter how strong Octavius and his men were, they found themselves oppressed by it.

They didn’t know whether to be impressed by her or worried that her behavior made them realize that their madam was talking about her mother.

Octavius frowned as his eyes darkened when he realized it and regretted telling her. He should have first asked who said those words before giving her an answer but since whatever had happened had already happened, he didn’t see the need to regret thus he sighed.

“Young master, young madam, we have arrived,” the assistant said as he glanced at them through the front view mirror bringing the two people at the back to reality.

Rhiannon glanced outside the window and knew where exactly they were.

“Come on,” Octavius said as he opened the door for her since he had already gotten out of the car.

Rhiannon glanced at him before saying, “Thank you.”

Octavius didn’t find the opportunity to reply as Rhiannon had already walked towards the house.

“Will they be able to break the down?” she asked as she stood in front of the house.

The bodyguards who had followed them took action as soon as they heard her words.

After the house was opened, they walked in but since it was stuffy and dusty, they found themselves coughing.

Octavius lit the room while Rhiannon walked towards the heart.

She placed her hand at the top of the hearth as if she was trying to feel something and found that there was someplace which was more rough than the other.

‘Kaylee did a good job in hiding it but why should she hide it that thorough? Is it that she hated me so much that she didn’t want to see me having my family’s heirloom?’

Although Rhiannon never believed that the ‘special necklace’ between her mother and her was their family’s heirloom, she still regarded it as one as her mother had said so.

“The box is behind this wall,” she said as she glanced at Octavis who understood what she was trying to say.

Octavius shoots the bodyguards a glance before walking towards Rhiannon.

“Let’s go outside as they get rid of the wall,” Octavius said as he held her waist but Rhiannon shook her head at his words.

“No. I want to see the process,” she said stubbornly.

“The room is stuffy and dusty, getting rid of the wall it even make it worse. I am afraid that you might get the flu or cold because of it,” Octavius said trying to convince her but Rhiannon was as stubborn as a mule.

“That isn’t a problem. What are the doctors for if they can’t treat me when I am sick?” she asked causing Octavius to be speechless.

Seeing that she intended to listen to his words, he sighed in desperation and said, “Then let’s us step aside for them to work.”

Rhiannojn glanced at him before calling the guards.

“The box is here. Make sure it does it cleanly and professionally. Although you aren’t professional in this kind of job. I believe that all the training you did wasn’t in vain. Make sure to not ruin the box,” she said before standing at the side just as Octavius had said.

Twenty minutes later, one of the bodyguards saw the box.

Just as he was about to stretch his hand and take it, Rhiannon jumped and prevented him from doing so.

“I will take it out myself,” she said causing the bodyguard to glance at her before glancing at Octavius who gave him a ‘step back’ look.

The bodyguards retreated and went to the door while Rhiannon took out the box.

She opened it and tears started falling when she saw the necklaces, bracelets, and rings.

She first took her mother’s necklace, her mother’s family heirloom, and started caressing it.

Immediately Octavius saw the necklace, he was shocked and staggered then got some balance preventing him from falling.

His eyes didn’t leave the necklace for some time before he stared at Rhiannon’s face with a complicated gaze as he couldn’t believe what he was seeing.

“What’s your mother’s surname? What’s her family’s name?
