(Freya's POV).
It's been more than a week since I ran away from Devan. And my life feels quiet here. Sometimes, I go out just to look at the beach. Thinking of all the things that had happened to me, daydreaming with many thoughts piling up.
Although there was no sign of Devan finding this Villa, every day I was always filled with fear. One night, Theo came into my room with a panicked and frightened look on his face as I screamed in my dream. Nightmares kept me from sleeping well every night.
Dreams where my life was ruined in just one night.
Every other day, Jason would come over to buy us something, and then spend time alone with me. I didn't expect us to be this close in such a short time. Although I couldn't fully love him, I was always comfortable by his side.
"Fey."
I heard Theo's voice calling me while I was busy washing the dishes. We had just finished eating lunch together.
"Hm?"
"I'm going out first," he said suddenly.
"Where?" I left my work. Walking over to Theo with a furrowed brow.
"To our house. To get something."
"No, don't. Jason told us to stay here," I protested loudly. My face turned pale with worry.
"I just want to take a picture of our family and a few other things and then I'll come back."
"But … What if Devan sends someone to watch our house? He did that to me before too, telling people to watch me. I don't want anything bad to happen to you." I squeezed his hand with an uneasy feeling. I was really afraid Devan would do something bad to Theo like he did that time.
We both ran away. Devan wouldn't forgive us. With such a big grudge, he would do more harm than he usually does.
"Don't worry. I'll be fine. If indeed Devan is watching our house, I'll check it first. Make sure there's nothing suspicious around," Theo said, trying to reassure me.
But I still felt scared. For some reason, after the nightmares I've had these past few days, I kept getting attacked by excessive worry.
"Then I'll go with you," I said.
"Fey, you don't have to go with me. Jason will be here shortly to give us our passports. We're already leaving for Switzerland tomorrow, so stay home. Okay?"
"But...."
"I'll be fine," he interrupted quickly. Rubbing my cheek gently. "You worry too much. I'll be back soon, hm?"
I paused, looking at him.
"I'll text you when I get there and when I get home. Or we can talk on the phone as I go to our house."
In the end, I could only nod in agreement with his words. And I could see the bright smile on his face.
"Do you have anything you want? Should I bring you something from our house?" he asked me.
"Nothing," I replied, shaking my head.
"Well, I'll be going then. I love you, Fey."
Before leaving, Theo kissed my forehead and then left the Villa. I was alone there. Sitting on the sofa in the living room, I gazed outside, staring at the beach in front of my eyes.
It wasn't long before I heard footsteps entering the living room. I quickly turned around and saw Jason smiling brightly as he walked over to me.
I stood up, letting him hug me tightly before letting go.
"What are you doing here?" he asked with a smile. And his dimples were visible, looking handsome.
"Just admiring the view?" I chuckled.
"You must be tired of being at home all day, but after this, I guarantee you won't be bored anymore," he said as he rubbed my cheek. "Passports and plane tickets are ready. As I said yesterday, you can go to Switzerland tomorrow morning."
"Thank you, Jason. I wouldn't have been able to do anything if it wasn't for your help."
"Freya, I told you not to thank me. I did it because I care about you."
"I know." I smiled.
"Where's Theo?"
"He went to our house to get some things."
"Oh? He should have told me. I could have accompanied him there."
"I even told him not to go, but he insisted." I looked down with a sad look.
"Are you worried something bad might happen to him?" Jason asked.
I nodded. Blinking my eyes and looking up to look at him. "I just don't want him to get hurt. he's the only family I have right now."
"And you still have me." He smiled and rubbed my arm. Trying to calm me down. "And I'll also be traveling to Switzerland often to see you. I've already prepared a house there. You can stay and start a new life."
"Wh-What? A house?" I widened my eyes in surprise, but he just chuckled. "Jason..."
"Don't say ‘no’. And besides, I'm rich." He laughed awkwardly. "I'm not going to go broke just because I bought you a house."
"But this is too much. I can't keep making youー"
"You guys need a place to live there," he interrupted quickly, "if you think it's too much, you can pay me money every month. But make sure you get a job first. How's that?"
"Jason, gosh ... You and your kindness, I don't know what else to say."
"How about telling me you love me?" he smirked.
I blushed and smacked him lightly on the chest.
"It's still too soon, Mr. Jason."
"Oh, God. I really want to hear you call me Baby. It would sound so beautiful," he said in a teasing tone.
I chuckled, hitting his chest again, harder this time. "Try harder, maybe, tomorrow I'll call you brother." I teased him.
"Brother?" he protested with a groan. "How about calling me husband?"
"Jason, stop it." I couldn't hide the blush on my cheeks as he suddenly whispered in my ear. Laughing contentedly at my embarrassment.
"I can't stay here for long because I have a meeting with a client this afternoon. I'll leave the passport and plane ticket with you. And later tonight, I'll be back here to help you get everything ready." Jason released his hug.
I nodded. "Um, okay."
"Then, I'll leave first. See you tonight, Fey."
"Um." I closed my eyes as he kissed my forehead. And when I opened my eyes, I saw his wide smile and luminous eyes, whispering right in my face.
"I love you, Freya."
I'm silent, not answering him. But I know he understands, something he always does whenever he's about to leave.
"I'll see you later, Jason," I said. He chuckles, then walks away.
I sat back down on the couch. Checking my passport and the plane ticket Jason had prepared for me, I heard footsteps coming back into the living room. I turned around, wondering why Jason was back again.
"Jason, what's wrong? Did you leave anything behind?" My voice was muffled. My eyes widened in surprise as I turned around and saw Devan standing there. "D-Devan...."
