Chapter 380 The Grand Finale
Chapter 380 The Grand Finale
The cell regeneration chamber hummed softly in the treatment room.
William lay quietly inside, his face peaceful.
Naomi stared tensely at the monitoring data beside him, adjusting the chamber's operations from time to time based on the readings.
This treatment was divided into three days—the most critical three days.
William had previously undergone witch doctor treatment, and his body had gradually recovered, but it hadn't completely killed the cancer cells.
And William was getting older. Naomi didn't know if waiting a few more months would make his condition worse, which is why she chose to have him be the first patient treated.
After all, after the first patient's treatment, protocol required analyzing and integrating the data to confirm there were no problems before a second patient could be treated.
Lloyd was already eager to become the second patient.
Naomi knew Lloyd didn't want her under too much pressure. After all, she knew his condition best; only if he became the second test subject would she have a better chance of success.
For these three days, Jonathan stayed outside the treatment room. Naomi only came out occasionally, with no time even for meals. Every day she and Francis took turns monitoring, afraid of the slightest error.
Finally, on the third day, the data showed an amazing change.
"Naomi, we did it!" Francis clenched his fist hard, his voice trembling. "This is great! The cancer cells are being destroyed, there's only a tiny bit left. This is wonderful!"
Cheers erupted in the treatment room, everyone excited.
Naomi's eyes remained on the cell regeneration chamber. "Everyone, there are still three hours left. If the data stays stable, we can move the patient back to the ward!"
She twisted her sore neck and looked at Jonathan through the window in the door, then smiled and waved.
Jonathan's anxious heart finally relaxed. He knew the results were good!
At noon, in the hospital's largest conference room, almost all the famous figures in the medical field had come, and there were even many representatives from foreign institutions.
Today they would announce the results of the cell regeneration chamber; the best results obtained that morning.
Naomi would present the new cancer treatment plan to the world as the head of the Harpers family.
She had changed into a white suit today, her long hair pulled up high, sitting quietly in the center position.
After Francis finished his remarks, he looked at Naomi. "Now, please welcome the greatest contributor to the cell regeneration chamber improvements and the new cancer treatment method—Naomi—to introduce the latest treatment plan!"
Everyone applauded warmly, camera flashes constantly going off below the stage.
Naomi stood up, her eyes falling on Jonathan in the first row, the corners of her mouth unconsciously curving upward.
"Everyone, as General Harrington just said, we've improved the cell regeneration chamber with a breakthrough integration of neural signal recoding functionality. Now it's not just simple cell repair, it's functional reorganization!"
Naomi continuously switched the content and data on the big screen. Especially when mentioning William's condition, her voice carried a hint of barely noticeable excitement.
"Patient Number One originally had late-stage cancer. According to traditional treatment methods, he had less than three months to live. But after receiving witch doctor treatment and later cell regeneration chamber treatment, the diseased parts of his organs have begun large-scale repair. And 65% of the cancer cells have already..."
Before Naomi could finish, she suddenly felt a strong dizziness. She had to hold onto the table to steady herself.
She looked at the audience below but couldn't see clearly; it seemed like everyone was spinning.
She heard people calling her but couldn't hear clearly. It seemed like someone was screaming, someone covering their mouth.
"Naomi!"
"Dr. Kennedy, what's wrong?"
"Are you okay? Not feeling well?"
Naomi instinctively wanted to say "she was fine," but when she opened her mouth, no sound came out.
Her vision became increasingly blurry, everything going dark.
The last thing she saw was Jonathan running toward her...
Feeling somewhat harsh sunlight, Naomi raised her hand to shield her eyes.
Smelling disinfectant, she slowly opened her eyes. A familiar hospital room, and a haggard-looking Jonathan.
Seeing her open her eyes, Jonathan immediately grasped her hand. "Naomi, how do you feel?"
"I'm fine." Naomi's voice was hoarse. She wanted to sit up but was pushed back down by Jonathan. "The doctor said you need to rest."
After a while, Naomi asked, "Why am I here? Wasn't I giving a presentation in the conference room? Grandpa, how is Grandpa? Where's his test report?"
"Alright, don't move around." Jonathan squeezed her hand firmly. "General Harrington continued the meeting, everything's normal. Grandpa's condition is very good. Mr. Wallace and Lester took over the follow-up treatment. Grandpa's fine."
Naomi let out a breath. "As long as everyone's okay."
"Who says everyone's okay?" Grace opened the door, her face stern as she pushed Jonathan aside.
Naomi's eyes widened looking at Grace, really wanting to ask if she had a death wish, daring to push Jonathan.
But what shocked Naomi even more was that Grace glared fiercely at him, and he said nothing.
"What are you looking at? Don't you know what's wrong with you?"
As Grace spoke, her eyes welled. Naomi quickly asked, "What's wrong with me? I've been fine all along."
"See for yourself!" Grace pulled out a test report, crying. "Damn it, couldn't you two be more careful? What if something had happened?"
Seeing Grace cry, Naomi quickly took the test report, then screamed, "I'm pregnant?"
The contents of the test report were very clear.
[Diagnosis: 9-10 weeks pregnant, fetus developing normally. Recommend more rest, regular prenatal checkups, progesterone supplementation.]
"What else? You think I'm the one who's pregnant?" Grace snatched away Naomi's test results, carefully setting them aside. "And you're a witch doctor, how could you not know you were pregnant? She's busy, fine, but what about you?" Grace turned to look at Jonathan, then immediately stood up, pulling out her phone, muttering quietly, "If you're going to propose, you should have said so earlier. I didn't even bring a camera. Will phone quality be good enough?"
Naomi stared blankly at Jonathan. He knelt on one knee and directly put the diamond ring on Naomi's hand. "The wedding preparations have already started. When you feel better, just finalize the guest list. I've picked out thirty wedding dresses, you can look at them in a bit and choose which ones you want. You can choose them all if you wish. I've already requested leave for you, so you can rest for a while..."
"Wait a minute." Naomi coughed hard. "Jonathan, aren't you going to ask if I want to marry you? This doesn't seem to follow the proper procedure."
Jonathan chuckled softly, then kissed her left hand. "Naomi, you forgot, you've already married me. We're legally husband and wife."
