Chapter 372 Lloyd Awakens
Chapter 375 Give Up Treatment
When Naomi left the sterile chamber, her expression was extremely gloomy.
These patients were indeed alive, and their physical condition looked decent, but their situation was exactly the same as Everett's.
Using cell regeneration technology, they had revived some of the necrotic organ cells in the patients' bodies, but other pathological aspects of their bodies hadn't been controlled. This fragmented state caused their immune systems to completely collapse.
"Once these people leave the sterile chamber for more than an hour, they'll definitely die from infection." Naomi's voice was a bit hoarse. "Only a few can undergo secondary cell regeneration treatment. Maybe we can use new equipment to help them recover, but..."
The success rate was very low. These people were basically doomed.
Naomi's gaze fell on the last patient, a ten-year-old child. "The little girl is in the best condition, probably because she's young. I'll notify Lester first to prepare a vehicle with a mobile sterile chamber to pick her up. We can only try."
As she spoke, she dialed Lester's number.
As soon as the call connected, Naomi heard Lester's somewhat urgent voice. "Ms. Kennedy, Xander's condition isn't good. He's experiencing temporary shock. When can you come back?"
After thinking for a moment, Naomi immediately pulled Jonathan into the elevator. "I'll be right back."
Seeing this, Gabriel also rushed over. "Ms. Kennedy, are you leaving now? What about these people?"
Not just him, Clyde was equally troubled. "Ms. Kennedy, we don't have a doctor here. Are we just going to leave them here?"
"Yes, except for that child, everyone else stays here. Keep the power on and have someone monitor this place."
Naomi said seriously, "Mr. Green, their situation is special. They'll die if they leave the sterile chamber. Even I can't save them. We can only ask the hospital for help, at least to keep them alive for now."
Hearing the continuous sounds from the elevator, Naomi sighed. "Xander is the head of the Harpers family. He probably hasn't told me everything. I must make sure he stays alive right now."
"This nursing home definitely still has Vivian's people. Root them out and see what other plans they have."
After Naomi finished speaking, Jonathan finally removed his hand from blocking the elevator.
The elevator doors slowly closed. Naomi's face was frighteningly cold.
Jonathan kept holding her hand. "Don't worry, it's quick from here to the hospital."
Naomi acknowledged with a sound but didn't say much.
She had just noticed there were only twelve people in the sterile chambers. Where was the thirteenth person?
She didn't have time to think about this now. She could only focus on getting back to the hospital to treat Xander.
The car sped along the highway. Naomi kept looking out the window, her mind constantly thinking about the current situation.
She roughly understood Xander's condition. Vivian had been using small doses of chronic poison to paralyze his nervous system. He could move, but his limbs were uncoordinated, and he had no possibility of standing up again.
But on the way back, he seemed to have been using special medication and looked no different from a normal person. So why would his condition suddenly worsen?
Everything was too coincidental. Naomi's instinct told her something was wrong.
She quickly took out her phone and pulled up Xander's previous examination reports.
He had a neurodegenerative disease, but his condition had always been stable. Whatever methods the Harpers family used, they at least kept him in a relatively healthy state.
Even with different climates at home and abroad, it shouldn't have worsened his condition. So why?
Just as Naomi was thinking carefully, the phone rang again. Thinking it was Lester calling, she answered without thinking.
But a woman's voice came from the other end. "Naomi, I'm Xander's daughter. I choose to give up treatment. Please don't try to save my father."
Naomi was stunned and didn't speak.
The other side sounded somewhat impatient. "I said, I'm Xander and Vivian's daughter, Isolde Harpers. I'll arrive at the hospital in half an hour. I'm giving up my father's treatment."
"And my mother." Isolde's voice paused. "All the patent projects in her hands can be transferred to your name. Let her go. How about it?"
Naomi quickly hung up and directly blocked Isolde without saying a word.
Jonathan asked softly, "What's going on?"
"A woman saying her name is Isolde, that she's Xander and Vivian's daughter, wanting to give up Xander's treatment." Naomi said flatly. "The Harpers family are really cold-blooded."
"Isolde?" Jonathan's voice became heavy. "She died on a snowy mountain a few years ago. Back then, Vivian reported to the police that Isolde encountered an avalanche while climbing."
Since he was investigating Vivian, Jonathan had naturally looked into everything thoroughly. He also knew Xander had a daughter, but she had indeed been dead for a long time.
Naomi shook her head. "Whoever she is, I need to fulfill my promise and keep Xander alive. The rest of the Harpers family's affairs have nothing to do with me."
Naomi didn't covet the patents in Vivian's hands, nor did she have any good feelings toward the Harpers family.
Naomi believed that many people knew about Everett being imprisoned, and even knew that Anneliese was murdered.
But no one stood up, and no one sought justice for them. So these people weren't her family either. She'd just be an observer.
But Xander had to stay alive. After all, the cell regeneration chamber patent was still under his name. If he died, Naomi would face obstacles in continuing treatment for William and Lloyd.
More than twenty minutes later, the car stopped at the emergency building entrance. Naomi ran straight into the building, heading directly for the ICU ward.
Seeing Naomi return, Lester finally breathed a sigh of relief. "Ms. Kennedy, over here!"
"His condition is too unusual. It doesn't seem like a natural onset at all, and we can't find any signs of poisoning."
Naomi nodded, then grasped Xander's wrist.
"Prepare the operating room, it's a heart attack!" She shouted to Lester, and everyone immediately sprang into action.
Nurses hurriedly pushed the hospital bed toward the operating room.
But before they could get on the elevator, four bodyguards blocked their way. A beautiful woman in a red dress and sunglasses walked down and forcefully grabbed the bed's handrail.
"Naomi, I told you, I've given up treatment. My father's condition isn't worth saving."
"You have no right to decide that." Naomi said emotionlessly.
She looked at Naomi with her beautiful eyes. "I'm Isolde, his daughter, and the future head of the Harpers family. Of course I have that right."
After thinking for a moment, Naomi nodded. "Fine, you have that right."
Just as Isolde was feeling somewhat smug, she heard Naomi say, "Please go to the police station to provide the appropriate identity proof, proving your father-daughter relationship with the patient."
"At the same time, according to Avalonia law, you need to do a paternity test at a court-recognized hospital and bring the DNA report to the hospital to sign the treatment withdrawal agreement."
"After all, according to records, his daughter has passed away. If we follow legal procedures, you should first revoke your death certificate."
