Chapter 124 Matthew Confession

Chapter 124 Matthew Confession
DAVID

The tension in the room was suffocating, every breath heavy with unspoken rage and despair. Matthew sat slumped against the chair, his face battered and bloodied, but his smirk remained mocking, almost taunting us.

“How is that possible?” he muttered, his voice hoarse but frantic. “It can’t be… Adam is poor! How could you meet her in this city?” His eyes darted between me and Bella, widening with each realization. “You can’t let her meet Western! If he knows she’s alive, he’ll kill me!”

“Why would he kill you?” I asked coldly, my voice slicing through the tension.

Matthew’s apple bobbed as he swallowed hard. Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth, but his fear outweighed the pain. “That night… I was supposed to kill her and return her body. Just like I returned her twin’s body.” He paused, his gaze darting nervously to Bella. “But I couldn’t find her. So I lied. I told Western I killed her, dumped her body in the ocean.”

I leaned back, a smirk tugging at my lips. Did this fool truly believe Western had been so gullible? Western wasn’t a man easily deceived, and if Bella had managed to escape him, it wasn’t because Matthew had been clever. It was because Western had allowed it or because he had a reason. That reason was a mystery I intended to unravel.

“What led to the death of my parents?” Janet’s voice sliced through my thoughts like a whip. Her hands trembled at her sides, clenched into fists.

Matthew’s bloodied face twisted into another smirk. “I don’t owe you answers, young girl. My deal is with David, not you,” he sneered, his defiance sparking fresh anger in Janet.

“You’ll answer me!” she screamed, surging toward him. Her fists were raised, ready to strike, but I stepped in, motioning for my guards. They restrained her, holding her back despite her furious struggle.

“Let me go, David!” Janet yelled, her voice breaking.

“Enough!” My voice boomed, silencing the room. Janet glared at me, her tears a testament to the years of pain she carried. I turned to Matthew. “You’ll answer her,” I said, my voice low and threatening.

Matthew sighed, spitting blood onto the floor. His shoulders sagged as if the weight of his sins was finally pressing down on him. “As I said,” he began, his voice rasping, “your uncle wasn’t part of the plan. But he heard what he shouldn’t have. He had to pay the price.”

“What did he hear?” I demanded, my patience wearing thin.

Matthew tilted his head, his bloody grin widening. “I went to Western’s office that day to tell him I’d taken care of Desmond Williams and his kids. Your uncle overheard us. He stormed in, furious—he and Desmond were best friends, after all.” Matthew chuckled darkly, his voice dripping with mockery. “He said he’d make sure we ended up in prison. That we wouldn’t survive it.”

“And?” I pressed, my fists clenching.

“I wasn’t ready to rot in prison,” Matthew said, his tone cold and detached. “I was young. I had a pregnant wife at home. So, Western told me to eliminate him.”

Janet’s sharp intake of breath echoed in the room. Her struggles against the guards intensified, but they held firm.

“I followed him,” Matthew continued. “I watched him all day. Saw how he doted on his child, how much he loved her. I watched them at the park, laughing, playing. When they headed home, I made sure there were no cameras around. And then… I struck.” He paused, his eyes glinting with something sinister. “I hit them with my truck. I crushed his entire family. I stood there and watched him take his last breath.”

My body stiffened, rage coursing through my veins. The air seemed to vibrate with tension. Behind me, Janet broke into gut-wrenching sobs. The truth was a dagger, stabbing her repeatedly.

“You monster!” she screamed, her voice cracking.

Bella’s hand clutched mine tightly. I turned to her, seeing the devastation etched into her face. She looked at me, her lips trembling as if she wanted to speak but couldn’t find the words.

“How did you kill my father?” Bella finally asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Matthew grinned, his blood-stained teeth flashing like a predator toying with its prey. “Your father’s death was just the beginning, Girl. There’s more you don’t know... so much more.”

Bella flinched, and I squeezed her hand tighter, grounding her. My gaze burned into Matthew, and in that moment, I swore he would regret every word.
