Chapter 93-Our Curly-Haired Family

Chapter 93-Our Curly-Haired Family
Faith POV

As my stitches healed, so too did the pain caused by the trials my husband and I had gone through.

With the help of Ate Elvie and Kim, my recovery was much easier. Kim cleaned my wound after Austin bathed me, since I couldn’t bear to look at it myself. Ate Elvie was strict in reminding me of all the restrictions, insisting that recovery from a C-section is more difficult than giving birth naturally. I followed all their instructions and am deeply grateful. Though my parents were gone, their presence felt like a new family.

They didn’t stay long at the mansion, as they needed to return to their own families who depended on them. They promised to come back for the twins’ baptism and first birthday. Austin also promised we’d visit them once I was ready for long trips again.

The house I bought in Zambales was given to Ate Elvie, in line with Austin’s wishes. At first, they refused, feeling it was too much. But Austin was firm, explaining it was a gift to show our gratitude for all they had done for us. Since the title was already in Ate Elvie’s name, they had no choice but to accept the blessing, even if their faces still showed a mix of surprise and appreciation.

Time flies so quickly, and like any parent, we quietly wished that our children would grow up slower. But there’s nothing we can do—growing up is simply part of life.

It feels like just yesterday I was cradling the twins in my arms while they nursed, so tiny and fragile. Now, Austin and I are chasing them around every corner of the mansion. Yes, they’re walking.

Next week, it’s their first birthday, coinciding with their baptism. I asked Austin to combine the celebrations—one preparation, one expense. Yes, my husband is a billionaire, but I’m a practical wife. Not to save money on the twins, but because it’s more efficient and ideal for me. Luckily, my husband listens to me. He even said I’m the “commander,” and he sees nothing wrong with my plans.

As the twins grew, their naturally curly hair—my own—became more evident. Jairee immediately noticed. She even asked why her hair wasn’t curly like her siblings’. Austin calmly explained, and Jairee seemed satisfied with the answer.

Since the twins’ curls appeared, I don’t know what Austin’s plan was, but he refused to let Jairee cut their hair. Now, both twins wear ponytails, their hair reaching their shoulders.

“Mommy, we’re leaving now,” Jairee said as I adjusted Austin’s tie. She’s now in Grade 1 and at the top of her class. Every time I see her name on the honor roll, I feel so proud—my heart overflows with joy.

Austin and the kids leave early every morning. They drop Jairee off at school, accompanied by Rosie, who watches over her until dismissal. Jake picks her up afterward and takes her straight to Austin’s office.

Jairee even has her own room at the office, where she rests, plays, or does her assignments while waiting for Austin. She’s only allowed to go home early when Austin knows she’ll otherwise be up late for meetings. He doesn’t want his daughter sleep-deprived.

I admire him even more as a father. He balances work and parenthood so well—there’s nothing more to wish for.

“Bye, hon, bye, babies,” Austin said, kissing each twin, just like Jairee did. This has become our daily routine. The twins wake up early, see Austin and Jairee off, then willingly go back to sleep. They seem to enjoy seeing their brother and father off.

“Oh, by the way, hon, Jairee and I will be late later. No school tomorrow, so I’ll take her along,” Austin said, grinning. My husband is truly handsome—pony-tail and office attire suit him perfectly.

“Okay, just keep me updated. Jairee, behave, alright? Stay close to Daddy,” I reminded them.

“Of course, Mommy, I’m always good,” she said proudly.

“Very good. Now hurry, you might be late, especially you, hon. Many employees are waiting for you,” I teased Austin, making him laugh.

“I love you, honey,” he said, kissing me again.

“I love you more, honey. Take care.”

“Bye, Dada, bye, Uya!” the twins shouted, their babbling understandable enough.

I glanced toward the gate. From afar, I felt someone watching us. And I wasn’t wrong.

A woman stood outside under an umbrella, head lowered, hiding her face. I tried to recognize her, but I couldn’t.

When she noticed me looking, she turned abruptly and hurried away. I watched her for a moment before sighing. Perhaps she was just looking for a house… or maybe it was mere coincidence.

Even so, I couldn’t shake the strange feeling.

Once Austin’s car disappeared from view, we went inside. I fed and bathed the twins with the help of their nanny. They soon fell asleep. I used the time to prepare the souvenirs for their baptism and birthday on Sunday. That kept me busy all day.

It was already dark by the time I finished. Seven in the evening. The two hadn’t returned yet, so I called Austin. He said they were on their way home. I fed the twins first, since they’d eat later. One of Austin’s rules is that we all dine together, so I was training the twins to wait.

Around eight, the father-and-daughter duo arrived. The twins and I were already at the door to greet them.

My eyes nearly popped when I saw them. I didn’t know whether to laugh or pinch him. Their hair was curly like the twins’—their mischief obvious! Now I understood why Austin refused Jairee’s requests to cut their hair.

The twins stared in amazement at their father’s new curly hair. They weren’t just looking at the hair—they even touched his face, making sure it was really him.

“Dada… dada…” Amelia whispered, gently tapping his cheek.

“Dada… hair… dada,” Ameer tugged on Austin’s curly hair.

“Yes, I am your daddy. Haha! We’re all curly-haired now, babies,” Austin said joyfully, clearly delighted with their reactions.

“Let’s talk later,” I whispered to him. He turned to me, worry clear on his face.

“Honeyyy…” he whined like a child. I walked ahead, still holding Jairee, smiling—a smile Austin didn’t see.

“Hon…” I heard him call again, but I didn’t turn.

We went straight to the dining table, ate, and then went upstairs to shower and change into pajamas. Of course, even the staff noticed the father’s new look.

Upstairs, I left the twins with the nannies, exhausted from my day’s work. Jairee was still looked after by Jake. Austin went ahead to our room.

When I entered, Austin had already bathed and was sitting on the bed reading, wearing only boxer shorts. I knew he had been watching me.

I didn’t say a word. I went straight to the walk-in closet to get the lingerie I had been saving for this moment.

I locked the bathroom door, showered quickly to stay fresh and fragrant.

When I emerged, Austin sat on the edge of the bed, elbows on his knees, as if he’d been waiting for me. There was a strange sparkle in his eyes, as if wondering what I would do next.

I went to the vanity mirror, towel-drying my hair and gently brushing my damp locks. I applied lotion all over my body, making sure he could see. I was doing this before we even got settled, just to tease him.

“Hon…” his voice was soft, tinged with worry.

I didn’t look at him but smiled slightly, my plan beginning.

“Why didn’t you tell me your plan?” I asked, blow-drying my hair.

“Sorry, hon. It was supposed to be a surprise. Didn’t you like it?” he replied.

“Of course I liked it,” I said. “I’m just wondering… how long will you keep doing this, hon?”

“As long as our eldest wants, honey,” he answered gently. “I want him to feel he’s not different.”

I felt his fingers massage my shoulders. I relaxed. Even without words, I understood his intention. I just wanted to tease him and reward him for all he did for our family.

“Honey, I can’t take it anymore,” he moaned, making me look at him.

“The what?” I asked, curious.

“This…” He took my hand and placed it on his prominent boxer shorts. Hahaha! My plan had worked. I laughed as I held him, ready for what was next.

“This is the second time you’ve done this to me, hon. But this time, there’s no escape,” he said, lifting me onto the bed. I didn’t resist, of course—this was exactly what I planned.

He quickly removed my lingerie along with his boxer shorts. I gave myself to him fully.

“Unfair… curly hair really suits you, hon,” I said, lying in his arms after our passionate moment.

“I know, hon,” he replied confidently.

“Thank you for everything, honey. I love you,” I whispered from the heart.

“I love you so much, honey. I’ll do everything for our family, because you are my life,” he said passionately, kissing me. From that kiss, another private moment began—just the two of us, as always.
