Chapter 90- They're Okay Now
Chapter 90- They're Okay Now
Faith POV
I stayed in the hospital for two days. Throughout those two days, Austin never left my side. Jairee, on the other hand, was at the mansion, since I couldn’t risk keeping her at the hospital where she might catch something. But during those two days… I didn’t utter a word to Austin. I could see the exhaustion and strain on his face, but what overpowered that was my anger. I was angry because he had kept everything from me—not because of what happened. That had already happened; we were both victims of our parents’ past.
Like me, he too had only recently learned the full truth from his twin, Axel, who grew up without knowing any family for thirty years.
As for my parents, they could have told me from the start that they knew Austin’s family, but they chose silence. Maybe they didn’t expect it would come to this—that even our lives would be affected. Because lives had already been lost in the past, lives that they didn’t anticipate were deliberately endangered—the life of Austin and Axel’s mother.
“Honey… please talk to me. I can’t handle it if you stay like this, if we stay like this,” he pleaded during the drive back to the mansion.
“Let me rest, Austin,” I replied, closing my eyes. I wasn’t tired or sleepy; I simply wasn’t in the mood to talk. I heard his heavy sigh, but I ignored it.
My closing my eyes eventually led to sleep. I woke up to kisses on my cheek and lips. When I opened my eyes, Austin’s face greeted me.
“We’re home, honey,” he said, smiling sweetly.
He was about to kiss me again, but I turned away and got out of the car on my own. He quickly followed to match my pace into the mansion.
“Mommy! Daddy!” Jairee greeted us energetically.
“I missed you, sweetheart,” I replied, bending slightly to hug her. I only held her for a short while because bending too much was tiring. After our hug, she ran to Austin and hugged him too. Austin immediately picked her up before we walked to the living room.
“Welcome back, Ma’am Faith,” the house staff greeted simultaneously, surprising me.
“Oh, your belly is so big, ma’am. Welcome back,” added Manang Elvie. Everyone seemed delighted with the size of my belly, especially after learning I was carrying twins.
“You look beautiful, ma’am,” Rosie said.
“Oh, it’s nothing… but thank you, Rosie,” I replied.
“Let’s go to the dining area, ma’am. Sir prepared a little welcome home meal for you and Jairee,” Ana announced.
“It’s been quiet in the mansion for months since our Jairee wasn’t here. Good thing she came home first,” said Manang Elvie, happily watching the child.
I just smiled. As always… I had no intention of staying too long.
At the dining area, Austin attended to me so thoroughly I almost felt he was about to feed me himself. I let him do what he was doing, not wanting to embarrass him in front of the staff who were watching. They seemed delighted, while some focused on Jairee. Ana playfully teased Jake, and both of them were clearly enjoying it.
After the meal, I headed to our room. My first stop was the walk-in closet to find something to wear.
My eyes widened in surprise—my closet was now filled with maternity dresses, when it used to be full of lingerie. I didn’t know why, but tears fell on their own. Austin had prepared for my return. I looked around and saw paper bags. Peeking inside, I found baby clothes and various baby items—all white. I couldn’t help but cry more.
“When I found out you were pregnant, I was overjoyed. So every time I went to the mall, I bought things for the babies. I don’t know their gender yet, so I bought everything in white,” Austin said, now standing behind me.
“A-Austin…” I whispered. He came closer, wiped my tears with his hand, and hugged me.
“I’m sorry, hon… I’m sorry, honey, for keeping everything from you. I was just afraid you’d leave me, knowing your mother had killed your parents,” he said, tears beginning to fall.
“Do you really think so little of me? Do you think I wouldn’t understand if you just told me?” I retorted, pulling away slightly from his embrace.
“No, hon… it’s not like that,” he quickly replied. “I just wanted to fix everything first before telling you. That’s why I didn’t approach you back then, because I wanted to handle everything first, especially us. I know you were a virgin at the time, so I really tried to avoid… but I couldn’t help it. I took your virginity even though everything wasn’t settled yet.”
He took a deep breath before continuing.
“That’s why I brought you and Jairee to Zambales. But everything went wrong because of Axel. Things didn’t go according to plan. And you both got involved with our babies.”
His words were heavy and serious. I remained silent, waiting for more explanation.
“When Jairee ran away from me, I nearly went crazy looking for you. But I’m still blessed and lucky because your doctor in Zambales is Hero’s cousin,” he said.
I realized why the doctor looked so familiar—they resembled Hero.
“The night you were taken to the hospital, I was there, hon. But I didn’t show up because I thought it would stress you more. I returned to Manila the next morning to start fixing everything. It took longer because Axel was hiding.”
I remembered—it wasn’t a dream. He really had been there during those moments.
As he spoke, I felt the weight of everything he had endured. And I realized my own shortcoming as a wife… for not talking to him sooner, for not giving him a chance to explain.
“I-I’m sorry, hon. I had no idea what you went through. I’m sorry I didn’t give you a chance to explain. I was blinded by the pain, thinking you really had a child with Daphnie, immediately assuming you had deceived me seven years ago,” I said, tears streaming.
“Shhh… it’s not your fault, honey. But I promise, from now on, I won’t hide anything from you. Even the smallest thing, I’ll tell you,” he comforted, hugging me gently again.
“And I promise to listen and ask first… from now on,” I replied, hugging back.
“I love you, honey,” he said.
“I love you more, honey,” I answered. We gazed at each other for a moment before laughing softly together.
“Thank you, Lord… my wife has forgiven me. I missed you so much, hon,” he said happily before capturing my lips with a kiss. I responded, having truly missed him as well.
As he kissed me, one of his hands moved, touching my left breast. I felt blood rush, a spark run through me. I didn’t know if it was from longing or my pregnancy.
“Hon, I’m going to shower first,” I tried to stop him, knowing where this was heading.
“Let's take a shower together,” he said, and we headed to the bathroom. He removed our clothes, carefully, not doing anything risky. After he removed everything, he stared intently at my breasts.
"They’ve grown bigger," he said, shifting his attention to my belly. "Hello, babies, I’m your daddy." He even knelt down and kissed my stomach twice. I couldn’t help but smile at what he was doing. "I’m excited to meet you, but don’t rush, okay? Daddy can wait. And don’t make things hard for mommy, either." It was as if he was really talking to them face to face."
He was the one who bathed me, but he didn’t do what he wanted in the bathroom—he said I might slip. So now we were on the bed, both of us naked. The foreplay was done, and now he was ready to enter.
“Hon… are you going to, or not?” I asked, a little irritated. I could feel the heat of his body, and the way he rubbed against my thighs only heightened my desire, but it still left me wanting more.
“Are you really sure, hon?” he asked, clearly hesitant. “What if… what if it hurts the babies?”
I let out a soft laugh. “Just don’t go all the way, hon,” I whispered, enough to ease the doubt in his eyes.
He positioned himself slowly. Gently, he entered, careful, savoring every moment.
“Ahhh…” I gasped at the mix of slight pain and the pleasure spreading through me.
“Are you okay?” he whispered, waiting for my answer.
“Yes… continue.”
And there he went, moving carefully, slowly, filled with the longing we had both waited for.
