Chapter 79- Alexander Meet his Grandpa and Grandma

Chapter 79- Alexander Meet his Grandpa and Grandma
Austin POV

Now that I know where Faith is, I feel more at ease.

I let the people I hired continue their search. The enemy must not suspect a thing.

I’m in my office now, smiling as I stare at the ultrasound photo of Faith and my unborn child. Beside it are the recent photos of Faith and Jairee in their current home.

So this is what it feels like to have a child of your own.

I’m happy that Jairee came into our lives, but it’s different when the child comes from your own flesh and blood. Still, I promised myself that my love for Jairee would never change. He is my child, and he will remain so forever.

In fact, I already bought a ranch in Zambales—just as I promised him. It’s already under Jairee’s name. I’ve asked people to start fixing the fences, and they’re currently looking for a horse he can take care of.

I can’t wait for everything to be settled so I can finally be with my family again. I miss them terribly.

I was deep in thought when my phone suddenly rang. It was Mom.

“Hello, Mom,” I greeted her without much enthusiasm.

“Come to the hospital right now. Something happened to your family,” she said on the other line.

A cold chill ran through my entire body. My heartbeat sped up instantly.
What happened to Faith?
How did Mom find them?

Questions flooded my mind all at once.

“W-which hospital are you at, Mom?” I asked anxiously.

As soon as she mentioned the hospital’s name, I called Jake and asked him to drive me there.

“Sir, what happened to Ma’am Faith?” Jake asked while driving.

I bit my lip, forcing myself to stay calm despite the panic rising inside me.

“I don’t know yet… just drive faster,” I replied, staring out the window.

“Y-yes, Sir,” Jake answered quickly.

When we arrived at the hospital, I nearly ran toward the room where Faith was supposed to be.

“Faith—!”

I pushed the door open—

But Faith wasn’t there.

It was Daphnie and Alexander.

They were the “family” Mom had been talking about.

“Austin!”

Daphnie rushed toward me, a bandage wrapped around her head, and hugged me tightly.

Alexander was lying on the hospital bed, also with a bandage on his head and an IV attached. He was sleeping peacefully.

I frowned.

“What happened?” I asked, unease and concern mixing in my voice as I pulled away from Daphnie’s embrace.

I walked toward Alexander and gently held his hand.

Was this another one of Daphnie’s dramas just to get my attention?

“How could you hide this from us, Austin?” Mom spoke before Daphnie could answer, her voice cold as she sat on the sofa beside Dad.

I knew exactly what she was referring to.

Alexander.

“What happened?” I ignored Mom and asked Daphnie again, my tone icy.

“W-we were on our way to the airport when—” I didn’t let her finish. I grabbed her arm, and fear instantly showed in her eyes.

“The airport? Why were you running away from me?” I demanded angrily.

“No… my job needs me, s-so we had to go back to the U.S. for a while,” she replied, trembling.

“Oh? What kind of drama is this, Daphnie? And then, while you were on the road, you just happened to get into an accident? Is that it?” I said sarcastically.

“N-no… Alexander and I almost got kidnapped,” she stammered.

“Oh, come on. Who would kidnap you?” I replied coldly, full of doubt.

“After showing me the child, you leave? Do you really think I’d chase after you? Xander is the only one I’m concerned about,” I added sharply.

“So stop making a scene or creating drama just to get my attention.”

I released her arm. I saw the pain in her eyes—like she wanted to say something but couldn’t.

“I think your question’s already been answered, Mom,” I said, turning to her and forcing myself to stay calm.

She fell silent for a moment before speaking again.

“Give Alexander a complete family,” Mom said firmly.

“You should marry Daphnie.”

I looked at her and Dad. Dad simply watched, sensing the tension.

“You know I can’t do that, Mom. I’m married to Faith,” I replied coldly.

“Then divorce her! You don’t even have a child with her,” she snapped.

“We have Jairee,” I answered quickly, hiding the truth that Faith is pregnant.

“He’s not your child, Austin! Alexander is your flesh and blood!”

Mom’s voice was hard. It was obvious she no longer cared about Jairee—the child she once adored.

“Auntie… marriage isn’t necessary,” Daphnie said softly, her voice shaking.
“It’s enough for Austin to acknowledge my child.”

“No!” Mom snapped. “Austin, find Faith and divorce her! I will not allow my grandchild to be illegitimate!”

It felt like she was stripping me of my right to my own life.

“I will never trade my wife for that woman—not for anyone, Mom!” I shot back, my voice trembling with rage. “Respect my decision. This is my life!”

I didn’t care if Daphnie got hurt.

Fuck you, Axel… where the hell are you? I cursed silently, struggling to contain my anger.

This mess wouldn’t end unless he showed himself. He didn’t stick to the plan.

Don’t tell me… you managed to hide her again?

No. That can’t be.

I have to find her—as soon as possible.

“If you won’t act, then I will find that woman myself,” Mom said firmly, determination in her voice.

“Don’t you dare, Mom!” I snapped. “Don’t touch my wife. If anything happens to her, you won’t get a single cent from me!”

My tone was hard—threatening.

“Greg, say something! Your son won’t listen to me!” Mom pleaded to Dad.

“Austin, let’s talk outside. Man to man,” Dad said calmly.

I saw hope flicker in Mom’s eyes. Daphnie remained silent, simply watching—but I could feel the storm brewing inside her.

Dad and I talked for almost an hour at the hospital cafeteria. When we returned to the room, Alexander was awake.

“Daddy?” he called softly when he saw me at the door.

I immediately smiled.

“Hey, buddy. How are you?” I asked as I walked toward him.

He suddenly sat up and hugged me tightly, then burst into tears.

“Daddy, I thought I’d never see you again… huhuhu!”

My chest tightened as I held him. I rubbed his back, trying to calm him.

“I’m here, buddy. It’s okay. You’re going to be fine,” I said gently.

“Mommy told me we needed to go back to the U.S. because of her work,” he sobbed. “But… I woke up here in the hospital.”

“You didn’t know what happened earlier?” I asked in surprise. Had Daphnie coached him?

“He was asleep during the drive, s-so he doesn’t know what happened,” Daphnie explained softly, avoiding my gaze.

I looked at her without any emotion.

“Don’t worry, my grandson. You’re not leaving anymore. You’ll stay with us,” Dad said, gently patting Alexander’s head.

The child looked at him, clearly confused.

“He’s my dad—your Grandpa Greg,” I explained. “And—”

I didn’t get to finish because Mom interrupted.

“I’m your Grandma Amy, but you can call me Mamita, my dear,” she said sweetly, hugging Alexander warmly.

She was like this before with Jairee too…

I could only shake my head at the irony of it all.

We agreed that Daphnie and Alexander would stay at the family mansion—for now.
Not at the house Faith and I shared.

Only Faith would live there.
She alone is the queen of that home.

This arrangement was better—to make sure Daphnie wouldn’t try to take the child away again.

It’s my obligation to protect him.

Because no matter how the world turns—

He is my blood.

My father’s blood.
