Chapter 148 Still has that effect

Chapter 148 Still has that effect
Emma’s POV

The second our lips meet, Dylan kisses me back like a man who has been starving for months.

There’s absolutely nothing careful about it.

His mouth crashes against mine urgently like he's terrified I'll disappear if he doesn't hold on tightly enough. He presses me harder against the cupboard, trapping me completely between the wood and his hard, still-damp body. One of his hands slides down to my ass, squeezing it possessively as he sucks on my bottom lip, then the top one, like he simply can't get enough.

A soft moan escapes into his mouth as my fingers dig into his bare chest.

God, he feels so good. Yet my mind keeps screaming at me to stop.

We don't have a clear relationship right now. Kate is still somewhere in the picture. This is messy, complicated, and probably a huge mistake.

But my body doesn't care.

His touch turns me soft and weak, just like it always has.

Dylan breaks the kiss just enough to trail his mouth down my neck, pressing slow kisses against my skin before lingering over the sensitive spot that always makes my knees weak.

“I've missed you so much, baby,” he murmurs against my neck, his voice rough and low. “I missed all of you.”

His words hit somewhere deep inside me.

I should push him away. I should tell him this can't happen.

But I can't find the strength.

His hands roam over my body, squeezing my ass again before sliding slowly up my sides. He kisses my neck harder, and I instinctively tilt my head, giving him better access as another soft whimper slips past my lips.

He finally pulls back just enough to look at me, his eyes impossibly dark.

“Do you miss me too?”

I want to say no.

I want to tell him to stop touching me. To step back before we both do something we'll regret.

But my body is already on fire. Heat pools low in my stomach, and when I finally speak, my voice comes out embarrassingly shaky.

“Y-yes.”

Dylan lets out a slow breath, almost like my answer gives him permission.

He kisses me again, harder this time, his lips moving over mine with enough intensity to leave me dizzy.

His hands slide higher, cupping my breasts over my shirt as his thumbs brush teasingly across them. My back arches into him on instinct, another quiet moan escaping before I can stop it.

“I want you so bad, Emma,” he whispers against my lips. “Do you want me too, baby?”

The confidence in his voice sends another wave of heat through me.

This is the Dylan I fell in love with.

The one who never hesitated to go after what he wanted. Not the careful, distant version he's been pretending to be these past few weeks.

I nod, unable to trust my voice.

“Say it,” he murmurs, his gaze locked on mine. “Let me hear you.”

I can't help it.

The words leave me in nothing more than a breath.

“I want you, Dylan.” I say, and that is all it takes for something to shift in him.

The kiss turns feral as he takes over my mouth, one hand still cupping my breast while the other slips beneath the waistband of my trousers. His fingers slide past my panties and the second he touches me, he groans against my lips.

He pulls back just enough to look at me, a smug little smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.

“Fuck, baby... you're already this wet for me?” His thumb brushes against me again, making my breath hitch. “I still have that effect on you, huh?”

Heat rushes straight to my face.

I should be embarrassed.

Instead...

“All this talking,” I mutter, trying and failing to hide how breathless I sound. “Either touch me or stop teasing.”

A low chuckle escapes him.

“There she is. So impatient.” His smile widens. “That's my girl.”

Then he finally gives me what I want.

His fingers glide through me before his thumb finds my clit, rubbing slow, steady circles that make my knees feel weak. I gasp and instinctively push closer, chasing the feeling.

God.

He still remembers exactly what I like.

Two fingers ease inside me, stretching me just enough to make me moan. After months apart, my body still knows him. Still welcomes him.

It's almost unfair.

Dylan kisses me again, swallowing every broken sound that escapes my lips while his fingers move with frustrating confidence. The towel around his waist is barely hanging on, and I can feel how hard he is against my thigh.

“That’s it, baby,” he murmurs against my mouth, his voice rough with need. “Come for me. Say my name when you do.”

The pressure in my stomach tightens so quickly it steals every coherent thought from my head.

I rock against his hand without even realizing I'm doing it.

“Dylan, ahh...” I breathe.

He strokes me faster. “Louder, baby. Say it.”

“Dylan!” I cry out as my body gives up completely.

The orgasm crashes into me before I can stop it. My whole body trembles as wave after wave rolls through me, leaving me clinging to his shoulders just to stay upright.

He doesn't stop immediately.

He keeps touching me until every last shiver fades, only slowing once my breathing turns into shaky little gasps.

I rest my forehead against his shoulder, trying to remember how breathing works.

He gently slips his fingers free.

Before I can look away, he brings them to his mouth, licking every finger clean and never breaking eye contact once.

My cheeks burn.

Seriously?

Fuck.

The sight is so dirty and hot I feel a fresh wave of heat settles low in my stomach.

I hide my face against his shoulder with an embarrassed laugh.

What have I actually done?

The answer comes almost immediately.

Something I've wanted to do for a very long time.

And if I'm being honest...

I don't regret it.

Not with his arms still around me.

Not with his lips still tasting like mine.

My hands slowly drift toward the edge of the towel around his waist.

I want more.

I want all of him.

Then...

Beep.

The washing machine chooses the absolute worst moment in history to announce it's finished.

We both freeze.

As if that wasn't enough, Dawn starts crying from the living room a second later, loud enough to remind us exactly where we are.

I let out a breathless laugh, still trying to recover. “I think the baby's awake.”

Dylan drops his forehead against mine with a quiet groan.

“I'll be quick though,” he murmurs. “I just need a minute.”

“Dylan, no.” A laugh escapes me. “That's non-negotiable.”

“That's too bad then.” He sighs dramatically, his hand still resting on my waist as his thumb lazily traces small circles against my side.

We stay like that for another second, trying to catch our breath.

The dangerous chemistry between us is still there. I can feel how much he still wants me, the towel doing nothing to hide it.

But reality has a funny way of ruining perfect moments.

I steal one last soft kiss before gently pushing him back. “I should go get her.”

He nods, even though every part of him looks like he'd rather pull me straight back into his arms.

“Okay.”

As he steps away, the towel slips a little lower on his hips as he moves, giving me another tempting view of his body.

Nope, absolutely not. Baby first.

I force myself to look away and adjust my clothes.

“I'll go get the shirt from the washing machine,” he says, his voice still rough.

“Okay.”

I head toward Dawn's crib, my legs feeling suspiciously unsteady.

My heart is still racing.

My lips are still tingling.

Part of me can't believe we let things get that far.

The other part...

The other part wishes Dawn had slept just five minutes longer so I can drag him into my bed and finish what we started.
