Chapter 59 Sneaked Away

"I'm serious." Gia smiled, "Now that you've become a deputy minister. All the people at headquarters have gone to flatter you and please you in every way."

Carl was stunned.

When Gia saw Carl like this, she couldn't help but laugh out, "I’m just kidding with you."

Only then did Carl reacted that she meant it.

"Honestly, do you guys know each other?"

Carl was not sure what she meant by this, "Yes, she is my friend, but a little while ago, I was at odds with her ...."

Gia looked like she had a sudden realization and pointed at Carl, her eyes wide, "No way! Do you really know her? Are you friends?"

Carl nodded. It was really unclear how to explain this matter.

Gia seriously looked at Carl, "You even know the director, and you're still her friend. I think your identity must be unusual. Tell me, what exactly is your identity? Why do you want to come up here and be a staff member?"

"What kind of status can I have? I'm just a grass root. If I really had status and position, how could I come to work in a place like this?"

Hearing such words, Gia was a little disappointed.

Inside a certain headquarters conference room, a group of middle-aged men with stern eyes were staring at Barr angrily.

One of the middle-aged men slapped the table hard and stood up, shouting towards Barr, "Barr, you are a son of a bitch. You secretly filmed this video. Do you know the consequences? Not only we can't explain to Young Master Lee, but now that the video is in someone else's hands. We're threatened by him at every turn. If he gives it to Miss Moore, or the chairman, we'll all be doomed."

Another middle-aged man, looking much older and cunning, squinted and stared at Barr, "Everyone is here. Barr, you have to give us an explanation for this. Otherwise, don't blame us for turning our backs on him."

The rest of the group also looked at Barr angrily.

"Everyone, even if you guys kill me, it won't help. What we need to do now is discussing a strategy. We must find a good way to resolve this matter."

"What! The matter was caused by you. You must be held fully responsible for this matter."

Barr was calm on the surface, but he was scared in his heart. If these people joined hands and spread this matter out, the consequences would be bad. Not only wouldn’t he have no way to account for Young Master Lee, but the chairman would never let go of him.

"Don't worry. I will definitely handle this matter and give you all a satisfactory answer." Barr said, then waved and a video was played on the big screen.

In the video, there was a room in which a middle-aged woman was there.

Barr had a smug smile on his face and pointed at the middle-aged woman in the video, "I got the lowdown on Carl. He's a henchman in the planning department of the Acce Lighting Group HQ. This woman is his mother, and now that I've sent someone to hijack his mother. I'm sure he'll hand over the video."

One of the middle-aged men in a suit stood up and sneered, "Barr, you're looking for death."

Barr looked stunned for a moment, but quickly recovered, "What do you mean by that?"

"Nothing." The middle-aged man strangely smiled. He knew Carl. At the last cocktail party, Olivia said Carl was her man. The chairman and Mr. Lee reached an agreement that Ken and Olivia will get engaged, but Olivia did not agree because of Carl.

The middle-aged man sneered. If Olivia didn’t marry Ken, but Carl, then Carl would become the chairman's son-in-law. Sooner or later the Kayfia Group will be handed over to him. Barr abducted Carl's mother, then Barr would be doomed.

The middle-aged man was careful and did not reveal this matter.

But Carl, after work back home, seeing Amabel still lying on the sofa, reached out to snatch the snacks on her hand, and then threw to the side, "Eating snacks is not good for health. Eat less of this junk food."

Amabel was eating joyfully, but Carl snatched her snack away. She yelled angrily towards Carl, "Carl, why are you being granny just like an old woman? I'm telling you that what I do has nothing to do with you at all."

"It's okay, but I'm all for your own good."

Saying that, Carl pointed at the calendar on the wall and said, "Haven't you always wanted to go to school? Look at what day it is now. After a little while, it will be time to register. You've been out of school for a year, and fallen so far behind in your homework. Do you think the teacher will want you when you register at school?"

Amabel’s tone softened, "Okay! I'm going back to my room to read my books. Call me when dinner is ready."

Saying that, Amabel turned off the TV and returned to her room with textbooks on the table.

At this time, there was a knocking sound outside the door. Carl was alert. He was worried that Barr's men had come again. He took a wooden stick and walked behind the door, then opened the door.

Opening the door, it was indeed Barr's men. He had seen this henchman yesterday, but didn't expect that after only a day, this guy had come to the door again.

The attendant looked very respectful and smiled, "Mr. Rodriguez, our Hall Master has an invitation."

It was still the first time he saw Barr's people treating him respectfully.

Now that Barr's things were in his hands, and he would hate to kill him, and now that he was inviting him over. It wouldn't be another negotiation or something to get him to hand over things!

"Wait. I'll change clothes and come out." Saying that, Carl slammed the door.

Walking into Amabel's room, Carl told Amabel that Barr's people were coming and asked her to hide in the next-door neighbor's house for a while while he lured Barr's people away.

When this was done, Carl threw the slippers to the side, then quickly put on the sneakers, then walked to the door, opened the door, said towards the door of the attendant, "Okay, I can go."

That attendant had a look at Carl, while the other attendant followed behind Carl, putting him in the middle, presumably preventing him from escaping.

Reaching the outside of the residential area, the attendant pointed at the car at the entrance and said, "Get in."

Carl took a look at the gray van and saw that there were still a few people sitting in it. He stiffened. Now there was still a chance to escape, but if he got into the van, he wouldn't even have a chance to escape.

Carl was still confident in dealing with one or two men, but if he dealt with a group of people, the chance of winning was slim.

"Mr. Rodriguez, you'd better come with us honestly!" The man behind him pushed Carl with a fierce smile. If Carl kept dawdling, it looked like he was going to hit him.

Carl smiled. He walked towards the van, and after walking two steps, he immediately turned around and pointed at the luxury car parked not far away, saying, "Ken."

The two men were stunned and panicked, looking over towards the direction pointed by Carl, not yet seeing clearly who was sitting in the car. Carl kicked the man in front of him, the man in pain and sweating, falling to the ground.

The men behind saw his confederate being miserable and shivered. As a result, he was unable to protect the rest of his body in time, being heavily punched on the face, and fell to the ground in a dizzy spell.

The few attendants on the van were stunned, and by the time they reacted, Carl was already running towards the street.

The van's speed was faster than his legs, and it was about to catch up with Carl, but as a result, Carl got into a narrow street next to it. That street was lined with stalls and also filled with pedestrians, who couldn't even get past by bicycles, let alone the van.

The few attendants in the van had no choice but to get out of the vehicle and go after them on foot.

After running out a few hundred meters, Carl was so tired and sweaty that he looked back at the few henchmen who were chasing this way and cursed, "Those bastards really have perseverance."

Carl glanced around and saw people everywhere, shouting loudly, "Robbery, robbery ...."

Originally, Carl had a proud smile on his face, but soon the smile on his face froze, and those pedestrians around him looked at Carl, and then at the few followers who had caught up with him. Not only did they not help, they even gave way to those men chasing him.

What kind of fucking world was this?

Now those followers were only a dozen meters away from Carl. If they continued to be stalemated like this, he would be caught by them sooner or later. But now he had no other way, and could only run forward with a strong effort.

The retinues were very tired. It was June, and hot. But there was nothing they could do. Barr gave an order that they must invite Carl over. If Carl escaped, Barr would definitely not spare them.
