Third person POV

"Where the hell is my food, you stupid bitch!" David shouted at the top of his lungs. He was clearly angry at something, and the rage in his eyes made one feel he was ready to murder.

"You'll get your food when it's ready. For now, wait there and suck it up. For the love of God, you are the alpha of a pack, and for some reason, you have me make your food for you. How cruel can you be?" Matilda asked while wiping off a bit of sweat that had gathered on her forehead.

"If I wanted a cook to make my meal, I would get a cook to make my meal. But I have a wife, and I'd rather have her make what I will eat. Use the energy you're using for complaining to cook instead of flapping your lips," David said, shouting at the top of his lungs.

"I don't know why you have to be like this, David. You're always such a huge dick, and you always act as though you want this marriage not to work. I mean, why the hell would you decide to make me cook your meal when there are chefs available? You are clearly looking for a fight, and somehow the fight must come from me. Maybe you decided to take all your failures out on me because there's probably no one else you can take it all out on," Matilda said in anger.

"When I choose to have my wife make my meals, that's my personal business and not yours. If I wanted to eat food made for me by a cook, then I would have asked the cook to make it. Get that simple piece of information into your thick head so I don't break your skull and put it in," David said but then stopped abruptly. He slowly began to sniff around as though trying to catch the scent of something. After sniffing around for a while, he turned to look at Matilda sharply with a frown on his face.

"What the hell is that?" he asked.

"What the hell is what?" Matilda shouted.

"Oh my God, you're burning the food. Just how useless can you be?" David said from another room.

In their master bedroom, David and Matilda basically had everything they could ever want without needing to go outside. And therefore, they occasionally decided to make meals while remaining in their living quarters.

Matilda, realizing her huge mistake, quickly began to salvage what she could from the burning food, but no matter how she tried, it kept burning and burning until it became unsalvageable. In the next moment, David walked into the room and observed what was going on. Clearly, his lunch was ruined, and he would need to find another alternative to quench his hunger.

"Oh great, look what you did. You decided to add a little black touch to my meal. I'm sure it'll be way more delicious this way," David said sarcastically.

"I was in no mood to cook, and you making me cook without caring for how I felt is your fault. Also, you distracted me and engaged me in a rather useless conversation that resulted in this, so I couldn't care less whether or not this food got burned," Matilda said nonchalantly.

"Maybe it was for the best anyway because I'm sure even if that food came out all right, considering you cooked it, it would probably have tasted worse than how it currently tastes now after being burned," David said.

"Well, if I'm such an imperfect wife and you find so many flaws in me, why marry me in the first place?" Matilda shouted as tears began to gather in her eyes.

"Well, before we got married, I was certain you were good for more than one thing. But it simply turned out that you were only showing me a side of you that isn't the real you. You have lured me into this trap of a marriage, and now I have no way of getting out. Thank you so much, Matilda, for ruining my life," David said in anger.

"Oh, shut your fucking mouth, you stupid son of a bitch. You knew what you were doing when you married me. If you were looking for a woman of virtue, you should have probably married Elena because we both know she was better than me when it came to attitude and probably cooking skills. But you went for me because you are nothing but a filthy gold digger that does not want to own up to his own mistakes. When you married me, you were not looking for virtue, but you were simply looking for a way to rule this pack, and now that it's in your hands, what have you done with it? We have had really bad leaders over the years, but we haven't had a leader as terrible as you in centuries and probably even millennia. You're a terrible man, a terrible husband, and a terrible leader. You are a complete failure in life, and your only way to vent out your frustration is on your poor, innocent wife. How about you clap for yourself, David, because you just won the achievement for most useless man ever," Matilda said in rage.

The look in David's eyes changed, and his face distorted in fury. Clearly, what Matilda had just said got to him, and had it been someone else, he would have probably used physical force. "Matilda, better watch what you say. You may be the former alpha's daughter, but you are my wife, and I am the Alpha now. Don't think you are completely safe," David said.

"Oh really, what are you going to do, beat me up? Another way to reduce yourself to be worth nothing. You abuse me daily, and you never appreciate me. How about you take it to the next level by getting physical, huh?" Matilda said.

"Oh, suddenly I'm the bad husband, and you have managed to paint the picture of a perfect wife for yourself. Maybe you are forgetting, darling, both of us conspired against Elena. You are the one who brought up the idea to arrange for her to walk in on our coronation night so she could see the both of us together. I remember you saying you wanted to watch her face grow ugly, and you wanted to see her cry. You are sick to the core, Matilda, and somehow you're making me seem like the devil when you are psychologically screwed up," David said.

"Oh, you make it sound like no one has their flaws. Sometimes I wonder if I made the wrong decision. I ask myself that question many times over, and you know the answer I always get to? I always deny and think that you are worth it, but deep down, I know you aren't, and getting married to you was the worst decision I have ever made. Before I married you, I had custody of this entire pack and more power than you. I outranked you and could very well give you all that, but I was blinded by the joy and triumph I got over getting rid of Elena and claiming you for myself. Little did I know that I did not take a precious gem from Elena; instead, I took her sack of burden and put it on myself. I hope that little bitch is suffering wherever she is right now," Matilda said.

"Come to think of it, I don't even know why I ever chose you over Elena. I mean, the pack seemed to be worth it at the time, but now it doesn't compare with the amount of stress I get from you daily. Elena may have been a bit slow to pick up on our plans, but she was probably going to be the perfect wife for me. She would have been submissive and very productive. Also, she wouldn't burn meals I ask her to make and then call me a failure as soon as she did. Somehow the both of you are sisters, and yet one is so useful and the other so useless. How did I ever get saddled up with a useless piece of shit like you?" David asked in rage.

"You want the answer to that question? The simple answer is that you were greedy. I have always been myself from the first time we met, and you have known me to be upfront about my feelings. I was never as polite as Elena, and I am sure that you noticed from the beginning. But you weighed your risk and reward, and you believed that the pack was worth the risk. Now you seem to think that I'm too much of a nuisance and that the pack is no longer worth it. Well, newsflash, you can't suddenly divorce me because if you do, I regain custody of this pack, and trust me, I will make your life a living hell," Matilda said.

"Maybe I'll enjoy your torture more than the torture I get from being married to you. You think I'm afraid of your little threats? You need me, Matilda. You need me more than you know, but I don't have the time to explain anything to you because I need to find myself something to eat. Elena may not have been a treasure trove, but at least she had virtue that far outweighed the benefits of being an alpha," David said.

"Oh, so it's all about Elena today, huh? Elena, Elena, Elena. You plan on giving me an earful of just how inferior I am to my sister. How about I tell you how inferior you are to other men? You are so terrible at being a husband I would rather have anyone else, anyone else but you. You are such a terrible leader that your pack is in constant decline and has been in worse shape than it has been in millennia. And you are such an immature man that you would make threats and raise your voice at a woman just because you are frustrated. If you are so interested in Elena, how about you go take her back and fuck her till you are satisfied? Maybe then I can leave your weak ass and get a real man for myself and have a good time," Matilda said.

There was a short, brief silence before a loud sound was heard. Matilda had been slapped, and the perpetrator was David.

Matilda held on to her face in shock as she slowly turned her head to look at David. "You son of a bitch, I'm going to kill you," she said and attacked David violently.

David did not relent and quickly grabbed both her hands and pressed her against the nearby wall. It was as though he had been waiting for an opportunity to do this, and in a matter of seconds, his hand reached her neck as he clutched onto it tighter and pressed her hard against the wall.

"You want a real man? Well, here is a real man, Matilda. If I haven't been fucking you good enough, then maybe you haven't been loose enough. Or are you cheating on me? Because I am going to find the little bastard you are cheating on me with, and I'm going to put the two of you together and slowly torture you both. I will drive you into madness, after which I will release you into the wild to be devoured by whatever is out there. You don't know me, Matilda, and you do not want to get me angry. Because rest assured, if you do, the one left standing will definitely be me," David said. He was pressing Matilda's neck tighter and tighter now, and she was choking under the force.

"Lord David," the voice of a servant said as he called David's attention, which made him release his grip on Matilda's neck.

He turned to look at the servant sharply and asked in a hostile voice, "What!"

"The elders request a meeting."
