Chapter 164 Wedding Bells?

Chapter 164 Wedding Bells?

The heavy magnetic locks of Level Minus-Four hissed one final time, sealing Thorne inside a soundproof, light-controlled concrete void. Through the thick glass, the ex-Alpha was nothing more than a ragged, shivering shape clutching a punctured hand—completely stripped of his terrifying legacy. I watched him for one last heartbeat, feeling the final, lingering cords of my childhood nightmare snap cleanly in two, before I turned my back on the cell.
"I'll have the sanitation drones scrub the corridor to remove any lingering trace of him," Elias said, adjusting his cuffs as the elevator doors glided open to receive us. "And I suppose I should formally apologize to the tech department for the gunfire. Though, Justin, your reaction time was surprisingly... un-bureaucratic."
Justin holstered his smoking pistol with a sharp, fluid click, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose. "I’m an analyst, Elias. When a rogue variable threatens the infrastructure—or, you know, my favorite toddler—I execute a permanent delete command. I'm just glad the kid's jaw mechanics held up."
Rayder let out a low, deep chuckle from beside me, his massive arms still cradling Winter. Our little spark had finally stopped crying, his thumb tucked firmly into his mouth as he blinked sleepily against the soft, warm ambient lights of the rising elevator. I felt the dark, suffocating tension of the bunker begin to dissolve with every floor we ascended, replaced by the familiar, clean scent of cedar and high-altitude mountain air.
Amelia looked down at baby Sapphire, who had fallen completely asleep against her chest. "The new vanguard will handle the perimeter shifts down here. It's time to let the modern world take over the paperwork."

As the elevator passed into the upper residential tiers, the clinical white lights gave way to the sweeping, sun-drenched glass panels of our penthouse. The valley below was sprawling, free, and completely alive.
I stepped out into the foyer, rolling my shoulders to shake off the residual chill of the dungeons. I looked at Justin, who was already pulling up a localized data terminal on his wrist link to log the incident report. The hard, tactical edge in his eyes had softened back into his usual restless intelligence, but I could still see a quiet, lingering weight in his expression.
"Justin," I said softly, stepping into his line of sight.
The tech expert paused, his fingers hovering over the holographic keys. "Yeah, Luna?"
"Now that the border is secure, and Thorne is permanently under a concrete slab..." I tilted my head, letting my golden eyes reflect a gentle, deeply personal warmth. "When are we going to visit your parents? You’ve spent three years protecting this territory from the dark. They deserve to see the man who saved the North."
Justin blinked, a rare, genuine smile breaking through his usual sarcastic demeanor. He rubbed the back of his neck, his cheeks flushing slightly under the penthouse sun.
"Soon, Selene," Justin whispered, his voice unusually tender. "We'll go very soon. My dad still thinks I'm just running an international IT consulting firm in the mountains, so explaining the whole 'Lycan administrative state' thing is going to take a few hours. But yeah... they've been waiting for a safe world. We can finally show it to them."
Elias patted Justin's shoulder with an elegant, gloved hand. "I shall arrange the private transport. A luxury helicopter flight, perhaps? We can't have the savior of the Northern grid arriving in anything less than absolute corporate majesty."

With a wave of her hand, Amelia led Elias and Justin toward the nursery wing to properly check on the children and give the security teams their final directives, leaving the central lounge suddenly, beautifully quiet.
Rayder set a now-snoozing Winter gently into his custom plush playpen near the corner of the room, ensuring the soft blankets were tucked perfectly around our boy's shoulders. When my Southern Alpha turned back around, the fierce, terrifying warrior who had just shattered a concrete bunker was entirely gone.
He walked slowly toward me, his golden eyes burning with a bright, undisguised heat that had absolutely nothing to do with war.
"You know," Rayder murmured, his deep voice dropping into a smooth, rumbling purr that sent an immediate thrill straight down my spine. He stepped directly into my personal space, his massive hands reaching out to effortlessly loop around my waist. "Now that we aren't hunting ghosts through the snow, or dodging rotten poultry in the public squares..."
I looked up, my breath hitching slightly as his intoxicating warmth completely enveloped me. "Yes, Alpha?"
"We are officially out of excuses, spouse," Rayder whispered, a wicked, breathtakingly handsome smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. He leaned down, his lips brushing softly against the sensitive skin just below my ear, his breath a hot, teasing caress. "No more battlefield strategies. No more emergency councils. As your legally bound partner, I am demanding proper, highly expensive, entirely uninterrupted dates."
I let out a soft, breathy laugh, my hands automatically finding their place against his broad, solid chest. "Is that an administrative order, Rayder?"
"An absolute directive," he growled playfully, pulling my body flush against his, his fingers digging gently into the small of my back. "The public relations team is already losing their minds with excitement. The official wedding announcement is going to be broadcast across both territories by the end of the week. The entire continent is going to watch me put a ring on the most terrifyingly beautiful woman in history."
He pulled back just enough to lock his golden gaze onto mine, his expression softening into a look of profound, limitless devotion. "But before the crowds get their festival... I want my wife to myself."
My heart didn't just beat; it fluttered, a wild, ecstatic rhythm that completely erased the lingering shadows of the Thatcher tragedy. The weight of the crown, the blood in the mud, the years of living as a phantom named Cyrus—it all drifted away like ash in the wind.
He loved me. The boy in the cradle was safe. The tyrant was broken.
Finally, I thought, my fingers tangling in the dark fabric of his vest as I pulled him down into a deep, definitive kiss that tasted entirely like the future. Finally, the winter is gone.
