Chapter 229
Writers POV
_____
Loud chants of victory echoed all around. The battle which just started was now over with fewer casualties on their side.
Alphas were administered to take some troops to evacuate the houses beside the embattled crumbled walls for their safety.
Loud groaning could be heard coming from different directions as families were dead and children were left with the bodies of their patients lying unmoving on the floor.
Irrespective of them being werewolves, none could withstand getting hit but a massive hardened wall.
Even though the battle had been won some things couldn't be changed.
That was what they all thought, but it was wrong.
Spatial energy formed up in the sky and covered the sky, the weather turned dark, and the clouds turned into tornadoes.
"What's that?" Whispering spread wide as all the pack members who were assigned to various places were now frozen and looking up at the sky.
They didn't know what it was because never had happened in their lives.
Though this fact got the Alpha king thinking so hard, then he was hit by gravity.
An immense force crashed his body and he grumbled on the floor.
There were earth cracks at the spot he was in, and the gravity was still there, pushing him deep into the earth.
Subsequently, his willpower was being severed from his body, and he felt as though he had been drained slowly.
He was far away behind the perimeter and all that was going on with him wasn't noticed by his armies. Their eyes were locked on the sky, but what they didn't expect came for them.
Thunder strikes began to spark inside the foggy tornadoes, and they came pouring down on the earth.
Serial bolts of lighting came at them and caused a massive quake on the floor. The ground shook as an explosion occurred.
That wasn't enough, there was more. The tornadoes came, fetching people off their feet and sending them to the clouds.
Many were struck to death by lightning, while others were caught by the effect of the swirling tornadoes.
The entire kingdom became chaotic and everyone ran helter shelter for their lives.
"You are a fool for believing you have defeated me" A spatial portal appeared out of thin air and Laura walked out of it.
She was looking unsheathed like nothing had happened to her in the first place. Her neck looked well, and her body was still in one piece.
The Alpha king who was still on the floor was left in dismay. He looked stunned by what he was seeing. Was that a double of hers? He thought, but then the myth was uncovered before his eyes.
The person he killed was just a replica of her, originally it was one of her spells. The effect came off, and he saw it was one of the pack members he killed.
He couldn't believe his eyes and his world felt like it was crumbling. What he did was a crime. Even though it wasn't avoidable, it was still his hands that took the life of his pack member.
His eyes held regret, and he didn't possess any bit of strength to get up. At that moment he felt life dying.
"I like that, now submit to me" Laura chanted happily and her hands began to emit some sparks of reddish substance. She then paced towards him with her hand extended forward, aiming for his head.
She was just feet away but something unexpected happened. Her palm was being severed off her hand if it fell to the floor.
Laura's expression turned dark as she held on to her served arm and tirelessly groaned in pain. She looked at the floor and saw how lifeless her palm sat on the floor.
The cranking of a sword could be heard and was flung at her which inflicted a deep cut on Laura's face, and she barely escaped what would have happened next.
"Let see you struggle your hand on my mate" A voice was heard, looking at whose voice it was, Ana emerged.
_______
Earlier on.
While Ana was so deep in thought, she began to pick up anguish and pain and variably it was coming from her mate.
"Mike?" She exclaimed breathlessly and she stared blankly at the widened space. Her senses were jerked up and she felt restless.
She couldn't help but feel something was going on with her mate, he was in pain and might be suffering a lot at the moment.
Quickly she sprang from the bed with uneasiness swelling in her chest, she walked towards the door to leave but just then Bryan made a faint sound from his cradle, and she couldn't help but pause her motives.
She knew she couldn't just leave him here because of the dangers lurking around, and there were also mind-controlled werewolves around the castle.
The only option her head could think of was to bring the head maid to come to take care of him just like before, but there might be a possibility that she might be controlled too.
Hastily, she walked out of her chamber and was out., luckily she was able to see whom she was looking for all this while lingering by the door.
"What happened to you?" She muttered worriedly while shrugging the maid who was laying on the floor multiple times for her to wake up.
She did, but barely, after countless shrugs.
"My lady," the maid replied in fright.
"What happened to you?" Ana asked again, feeling disturbed.
"I must have passed out, I'm sorry" she explained and Ana fell into a shallow thought before she pulled off.
Afterward, she stood up hand in hand with the maid and went back into her chambers.
"I want you to take care of Bryan, if anything goes wrong, take him out of the castle and go look for Daciana" Ana pleaded as she cupped the maid's chin with both palms.
It might dawn on her that things might not go as expected, and she could feel it, her ego told her.
"I can't, what if I get controlled again and try to harm him?" the maid rejected. Sadness flashed off her face as what happened before recurred in her head.
"Then have this…" Ana handed over her necklace to the maid…" It possesses certain powers and can keep you off mind control" she assured, and the maid believed.
