Chapter 173 End It Now
\[Osiris’ POV\]
I take one last look at the room that my flame is still in before turning and heading back to the banquet hall.
Inside, the party is in full swing even though one of the stars of the evening isn’t present.
It’s annoying, but it shows just who this get together was thrown for. It wasn’t for Ray and it most certainly wasn’t for my flame. It was all for that woman to show off her power and glory.
Sighing, I enter the hall and then begin to look around, taking in all that are present for the event and then something hits me.
Victor isn’t here.
Frowning, I take another look around wondering if I possibly missed the man and when I realize I didn’t, I can’t help but smirking.
“Maybe I should give him a call.”
I was certain that the reason he wasn’t invited was because he would end up ruining things. A man that powerful and protected, there was no way that my stepmother would be able to warp his memories.
Then he is an ally that I need.
Once he was on my side would I really have to wait until that sham of a wedding?
Of course, I knew that I promised my flame I wouldn’t do anything, but even then.
“No,” I huff, deciding to deal with things on my own. “There isn’t any reason to bring him in and complicate things.”
“Bring who in?”
Flinching, I turn and find that Adeline is watching me with a look of curiosity on her face.
Dammit. How long was she standing there listening?
“Well?” She pushes when I don’t speak. “Who are you talking about? Who do you not want to bother with such things?”
“Don’t you find it weird that despite all these powerful wolves being here, Victor isn’t?” I ask, motioning around the room. “There isn’t even a representative here for him this evening.”
“I didn’t pay much attention.” Adeline admits, examining the party guests. “But you’re right. There isn’t anyone here from Emerald Moon.”
Did that mean that my stepmother didn’t bother inviting anyone to the wedding that was taking place the following week?
“Something feels off,” I murmur, slowly taking in the guests until I realize that my stepmother isn’t present. “Wait… Where the hell did she go?”
Suddenly, I get a bad feeling and before it can grow I’m moving, heading out of the banquet hall again and toward the lounge that I left my flame where multiple guards stand watching.
“Fuck,” I growl as I hear my stepmother’s voice from within. “This bitch just keeps pushing.”
Unable to control myself, I feel Sterling awakening, pulling at me so that he can take control and for once, I allow him to do so.
Satisfied, we start to shift and once we are in our wolf form he lets out a howl and then surges forward, slamming into the closest guard and beginning to fight.
Instantly, I hear chaos behind me and I’m certain that it is the other party guests coming out to see what exactly is happening, but I don’t hold any hope of them helping me.
Instead, I fully intend to handle things here on my own.
One by one, I go after the guards until I hear a commotion from within the room and when magic starts to press against me, I know that a struggle is happening.
Move. I hiss inwardly, continuing to fight the guards. Move out of the fucking way so I can…
I don’t get to finish my thoughts before Jean appears, shoving at a woman who looks similar to her and I know in that instant that it must be her mother.
Together, the move, fighting for dominance from the other and though it is the strangest thing I don’t have time to worry about that.
Right now, my only concern is dealing with these guards and getting to my flame before my stepmother can do anything.
With this single thought in mind, I continue to move, fighting, biting, scratching, working for dominance until finally I’m close to the lounge, but before I can reach my stepmother appears.
“I knew it was you,” she smirks, her eyes flashing. “It’s always you getting in my way when I’m almost there.”
I let out a huff while I stare at her, taking in her crazed expression, her proud face, and how she looks like she actually believes that she is going to get one on me.
Keep being delusional, I think, starting to move toward her. I’ll deal with you once and for all.
Honestly, thinking back on it I should have just went ahead and dealt with her when I had the chance in the past. It was too fucking kind of me to let her continue walking on this fucking earth like she owned the place.
Well, lesson learned and I wasn’t going to make the same mistake that I did in the past.
Today, things were going to end.
I was going to make sure that this woman was ruined and never able to show her face around me, my flame, or anyone that I cared about.
Once she was dealt with I would make sure to get rid of anyone who worked for her in Moon Storm and then I would deal with my father since I already knew that he would definitely try to do something to me for dealing with his woman.
‘Let’s kill her,’ Sterling offers, but I know that isn’t the right way.
‘I want her to rot behind bars for the rest of her life.’ I tell him, starting to slowly move forward while the bitch stares at me. ‘Killing her would just be too fucking kind.’
‘Then we take her out.’
‘We take her out,’ I agree, surging forward. ‘Here and now.’
I let out another howl as I close the distance between my stepmother and me and when I reach her, I open my mouth, ready to bite down on whatever I can get ahold of, but before I can I feel a wave of magic slam into me.
Skittering backward, I look around, half expecting another mage to be near, but I come up empty.
‘What?’ Sterling hisses, showing he is just as confused as me. ‘What the hell happened?’
‘I’m not sure,’ I admit.
I’m certain that there isn’t a mage around her and after growing up with the woman I was more than aware that she didn’t possess any magical abilities, but then, what the hell just happened?
