Chapter 162 Help Him

Chapter 162 Help Him
\[Raelyn’s POV\]
“Return her memories.”
Ray’s voice is firm as he speaks, and confusion starts to rush through me.
Return her memories.
Whose memories was she supposed to be returning?
What the hell was even going on with all of these people?
“Do it,” Ray says more firmly when Jean doesn’t move. “Why are you hesitating?”
“Ray,” I say slowly. “What are you talking about?”
“You’ll know soon enough.” He tells me. “Jean, hurry up and do as I say before my mother decides to come and check on us.”
For a moment, Jean doesn’t move as she continues to look on in both fear and disbelief.
“But…” she says quietly. “What about my mother?”
“Don’t worry,” Ray smiles. “She is safe.”
“Really?” Jean asks. “How can you be certain?”
“Because I already took precautions.” He responds. “Now, please do as I’ve asked, and then we can end things once and for all.”
Frowning, I listen to the conversation going on around me while the unease I’ve been feeling this whole time returns.
“Alright,” Jean murmurs. “But if you’re lying…”
“I will personally allow you to kill me, although I can’t guarantee that this disease won’t take me out first.”
At his words, I feel a pang of pain shoot through me, but before I can ask what disease he is speaking of, Jean moves toward me, and when she touches my forehead, I feel magic start to flow into me.
“Ugh,” I hiss as pain shoots through me. “What are…”
“Relax,” she murmurs, sending more power into me. “Otherwise it will become painful.”
Eyes widening, I feel like something in my head is being ripped open, and with it come many memories involving Osiris.
“What?” I gasp as tears brim my eyes. “What is this?”
“It’s done,” Jean sighs, staggering back. “Now, tell me what exactly it is that you’re planning.”
“Isn’t it obvious?” Ray smirks. “I think that it is about time that we stopped my mother.”
“I agree,” I hiss, realizing what she did to me. “But I think that just killing her would be okay.”
At my words, Ray’s eyes widen, and I can see defiance flash in them. And when his lips twitch into a frown, I know that there is no way he will allow me to do such a thing, and honestly, I couldn’t blame him because she was his mother, but that didn’t change how I felt.
That bitch. I growl inwardly. She warped my memories for her own personal gain. When I get my hands on her, I’m going to kill her.
“What do you have in mind?” Jean asks, breaking the silence that has fallen around us. “You must have had a plan already made when you told me to give Raelyn back her memories.”
“I do,” he agrees, turning his gaze to me. “But we are going to need everyone on board to make it happen.”
“I’m all ears,” I tell him. “What exactly are you planning, and why are you doing this?”
Ray was the woman’s precious son, and as far as I knew, he helped that bitch hellhack Osiris this whole time. So, what exactly was he up to? He didn’t have anything to gain from doing this.
“We need to show the world what kind of woman she really is.” Ray says slowly. “And we have to do it in such a grand way that she can’t possibly deny it.”
“And how do you plan on doing that?” I ask. “And why are you telling us this?”
“Because I need your help.” He responds, his head bowing. “I know after everything it is a lot to ask, but would the two of you please help me?”
Remaining silent, I eye Ray, taking him in from his defeated expression to the dark circles under his eyes.
He looks exhausted, and that actually makes me feel sorry for him.
“I’m listening,” I sigh, deciding to hear him out. “I want to hear your plan before I agree to anything.”
I guess it wouldn’t hurt anything to hear him out, especially since I was tasked with getting rid of the bitch from Osiris’ grandfather anyway. If he and Jean were on my team, I believed it could be done.
“I hate to ask this of you, but can you keep pretending that you think I’m your fiancé?”
Eyes widening, I take in Ray’s request, and the urge to deny his request hits me, but I don’t say anything.
“I know it is a lot to ask.” He continues when I don’t speak. “But we need to have this wedding happen.”
“Nope,” I say. “You’ve lost me.”
“Wait, wait, wait,” he gasps. “I don’t mean that we should actually get married! What I mean is we need the ceremony to take place. That way we can reveal all my mother’s misdeeds in front of the entire werewolf community.”
Frowning, I consider what he is saying, but there is something that doesn’t exactly sit well with me.
“Are you saying you have proof of all of this?” I ask. “If you do, I’d like to see it before I agree to anything.”
“I do,” Ray assures me. “I’ve been keeping tabs on her for a while now, and I’ve collected enough to take her out.”
“Why?”
Jean’s voice drifts toward us, and when I look toward the woman, I see a look of disbelief on her face.
“She is your mother, and everything she has done has been to benefit you, so why are you doing this?”
“Because I can’t continue to sit back and watch her do such things.” He says but I can tell that isn’t exactly the truth.
“Tell me,” I say, eyeing him. “Why after all these years are you wanting to do this when you allowed her to do all those things to Osiris?”
I wait while Ray opens and closes his mouth, clearly looking for a proper response to my question, and when he finds it, he seems to almost deflate.
“I was a fool,” he murmurs. “I knew what she was doing, but I sat back and didn’t do a thing. Even if she is evil, she is still my mother, so can you blame me?”
"I…" I begin, preparing to tell him that I could, but I stop myself.
Honestly, would I do the same thing as him if it was my mother who was doing such things? I couldn't answer that honestly.
"Once she is out of the way, I will turn myself in for all that I helped with." He continues. "So please, I beg of you, help me end this."
