It's going grand, as I expected.
Alphas have come a long way, despite the invitation's short timeframe. It is noticeable in everything that Elise has put a lot of effort and time into making this day unforgettable for me. Hundreds attended my Luna ceremony today. I think many have thought that Zane and I would not make it to this day. I was too young at first, then Zane had to face my Alpha and then he got a rival in the form of Shadow Moon's Alpha. But we have overcome all obstacles, our happiness is now unmatchable.
After visiting his parents, I did not go back to our residence.
Bad luck, Elise claimed, Zane was only allowed to see me on stage again. I was assigned a private room where I could relax and take a nap. And believe me, a rest and some dry food is all I needed back then. Until I heard a soft knock against the window. At first, I thought some birds were playing on the window frame, but when the noise continued, I was forced to get up and see what was happening.
And there was Zane.
With a bunch of Lely’s in hand. I stared at him in astonishment, he was the last person I expected to see here. In a daze, I took the flowers from him and held them to my heart. “Zane!” I breathed out before he pulled my head in with both hands for a deep kiss. He wasn't about to make a quick one like he had all the time in the world, he explored my mouth, our tongues played the old game we never tire of. When we were forced to part, he stroked my face while continuing to stare at me.
“Mercedes, I just want to say this to you. You are the love of my life. You already know how much I love you, I can give up everything just to have you with me”, he told me softly. “Today is your day, you officially become a member of this pack that loves you so much. We all prepared years for this moment when you would be one with us and lead the pack alongside me.”
Ooohhh Gosh, what could I say after all these compliments? The feeling of being accepted and desired is the greatest. Yes, I know Zane loves me, he can't otherwise after all the love I've showered over him. This man stands no chance in my arms, my charms work irresistibly on him. I don't know if the Moon Goddess’ pull has anything to do with that, as long as it's there and he’s mine. And I've already taken care of that. My eyes go to his neck to ensure my bite is still there. And yes, it is!
Zane follows my gaze and when he notices that his neck is my target, he starts to laugh softly. “I don't know what it is you have with our marks, Mercedes. The whole pack is talking about it, you are causing a lot of hilarity in Midnight Moon.” He pushes his sweater aside so I can get a better view of the mark. “I promise you it will never go away and everyone will see it.”
I look sheepishly at his face. “It better be! Otherwise, I'll have to mark you every day," I warn.
Shaking his head in disbelief, Zane turns back to me. His face is serious again, he grabs my hands. “Mercedes, my mate and wife. I promise to be the best mate for you. And our pups won't know a better father. I promise you the best that is in me.”
Well, here he got me. Tears of gratitude appear in my eyes.
I swallow hard, this emotional side of Zane is rarely seen. To the outside world, he's a mighty, unbeatable Alpha who holds his pack in line with an iron hand. His success is much talked about, many admire him and want to be his friend. But to me, he is always vulnerable, he does not shy away from humbleness. And for that I adore him, we are able to be equal in all aspects.
“You've always given me the best, Zane. I owe much of who I am today to you. The Moon Goddess could not find a better mate for me than you. I love you, Zane, and that's forever." After another lovely kiss, he pulls back. One more wave and he's gone.
I went back to bed afterward and, strangely enough, fell asleep right away. There's nothing to worry about, the future looks great.
And now I'm getting ready for the ceremony. Of course, I peeped at what the hall looked like, to be honest, I didn't expect so many interested people. One expensive suit after another, the Luna's are wearing their best dress. That shows that they attach great importance to this special day for me. A stream of gratitude flows through me.
The door opens and there is Elise with the makeup artist. “Everyone is already waiting, Mercedes. According to the event manager, you only have fifteen minutes. Elena here will help you finish your makeup quickly”, she urges me to hurry.
And indeed, fifteen minutes later, I'm dressed and all. With Elise, I step into the elevator which takes us to the ground floor. When I walk to the door that leads to the hall, I suddenly feel someone next to me. I look up and become silent with emotions.
"You didn't think I'd miss this day, did you, my princess?" My father takes me by the shoulder and presses me against his chest. “You are my only child. I'm here for you". The tears cannot be stopped, they flow down my cheeks like a waterfall. Moon Goddess, thank you for all the blessings. I lean against him for comfort, his warmth makes me completely relaxed. And when I feel the tender hand on my back, I know it belongs to my mother.
Flanked by my parents and happy as I can be, I step on stage. My eyes are fixated on my mate, all others around us blurred. The words of the Elders and the rituals pass me by. I don't even feel the cut on my palm, everything in me is tuned to Zane.
“Mercedes, Luna of the Midnight Moon pack, mark your mate”, I suddenly hear the Head Elder say. Instantly a loud roar arises in the hall, they bend double with laughter, still others hold a pole to be able to stay upright while laughing.
I grin, this pack is too much.
When I look at Zane's face, I notice that he is fighting to hold back his own laughter and keep the serious expression on his face.
I move closer to him, reaching out to slide his shirt off his shoulder as my razor-sharp fangs are clearly visible under my curled lips.
My teeth bury themselves deep in the old mark on Zane's neck, he lets out a sigh of ecstasy. A jolt of desire runs us and ends between our legs. “Mercedes! Baby,” Zane whispers. A haze comes over me as I become one with Midnight Moon and am allowed into the pack mind link. Congratulations are running through my head. I pull back from Zane and without warning, he grabs me and repeats my actions...
